Have you ever thought of the story of your life as a song or a poem? A
grand narrative whose music rises into heaven and is heard by God as
a sweet melody? A melody that God hums to God’s self with joy? A
poem that God listens to over and over again, lovingly memorizing it
while looking forward to hearing the next verses? Though God already
has a sense of what those next verses might be, God leaves room for
our creativity as God loves to hear what we create.
Now you might be thinking to yourself, “My life is a sweet melody to
God? Really? I can think of many sour notes just this week let alone
over my whole life!”
But it’s true. Read the book of Psalms. Maybe the songs the Psalms
sing have different lyrics than the ones from your life. But the Psalms
share similar melodies for they contain melodies of great joy and deep
disappointment, of inspiring faith and debilitating doubt, of friendship
and betrayal, of love and loss.
Beginning on May 31 during worship, we’ll read some Psalms together
one each week over the course of six weeks. I will miss two of those
Sundays for treasured family time but will hold you all in prayer!
The overarching theme for this sermon series is:“God’s Love Song is
You.” I’m excited to see and hear where we’ll go over these next few
weeks. I hope you are, too! And if you have a friend or family member
who might be encouraged or inspired by this good news, invite them to
join you—no strings attached!
Whether you make it one Sunday or for all six, I hope that you’ll take
time to read a Psalm each day over the next six weeks and as you do,
remember: God’s love song is you.
Love, Pastor Tom

A Celebration of Life
Saturday Morning Bible Study
June 13th and 27th, 8:30-10:00 a.m.,
in Great Hall, downstairs
Saturday Study meets on the 2nd and 4th
Saturdays of the month. We begin a new DVD
series, Romans—Living Faithfully. Martin Luther
wrote in his introduction to Romans that “this
epistle is in truth the most important document in
the New Testament, the gospel in its purest
expression…It is a brilliant light, almost enough to
illumine the whole Bible.”
You don’t need to attend each session, come as
you are able. Bring your favorite Bible (or we have
extra!) and your own experiences as we explore
the great themes from Romans over our morning
coffee, provided. For additional information,
contact Tammie at 654-3256 or
[email protected].

Giving
Dear members of Trinity, The giving in April was
not very good for having Easter services, so we
need more funds to come in. We had a major
expense in April with the roof repairs of $5495 to
replace broken tiles. Lets keep Trinity growing
strong. We do not want to go backwards but
keep going forward. Thank you all that have met
the goal of upping your pledges by 10% or more
this year!
Thanks again, Jim Lichtenheld Treasurer
