October 2014 Newsletter
October Meeting:
Members present: Rick Torres, Darrel Holmes, Phil & Sandy Newell, Jim Carmon, Mike Hart,
Sam & Stephen Bradley, Gordon Hunt, Dave Sliper, and Dan & Sharon Irwin.
This meeting was held at the Cameron Park Show n’ Shine & Fly-In car and airplane show at
the Cameron Park airport and was kept short due to the event activities.
A motion was made by Mike Hart and seconded by various members in attendance to approve
the minutes of the last meeting. New member Jim Carmon was voted in along with his 2006
ticket grabbing GTO. Welcome Jim! Rick introduced guest Ted Hanson who has a silver/blue
2006 GTO.
Dan has connected the club to an online GTO Forum. We discussed options for the club to get
content on the forum. We’ll continue to explore options.
Rick mentioned that due to our presence on the Internet, he receives phone calls from GTO
enthusiasts all across the country. Oftentimes, these calls are people looking to either buy or
sell GTOs. As an example of people contacting us, new member Jim Carmon E-mailed the club
through our website, seeking advice for buying a new generation GTO. Rick’s contact info was
given to him, and Jim bought a beautiful 2006 GTO with Rick’s guidance. We are proud to be a
mix of the classic GTOs and the new generation GTOs. During this meeting, it was reiterated
that we are a club to not only enjoy car related events together, but to also help each other with
GTO related projects, whether it be sharing information, lending a special tool, or lending a hand
during a repair, etc.
A motion was made and approved to allow club members to bring and show their other Pontiacs
at our annual Apple Hill run on October 19th, 2014.
On-going Business:
By-Laws update – there’s nothing new to report. Due to the October meeting being at the car
show, the updated By-Laws were not reviewed. We will re-visit this at the next meeting.
September 2014 was so far our biggest month for poster sales. Thanks to our friend Jorge from
the Nor Cal Goats Club placing posts about our poster on their Facebook page and the LS1
GTO forum, we had 47 online poster sales in September. A BIG thanks to Jorge and the Nor
Cal Goats Club!
