From its start in 1877, Onset has been known as a
Community. Originally a Spiritualist Community,
large tracks of land were designated as parks and
venues for cultural events. Today, Onset has retained
that old world Victorian charm, while blossoming
into a thriving Cultural Community offering many
musical and artistic events that are available to the
public with little or no charge.

The Onset Bay Association (OBA) is a 501(c )3
nonprofit, dedicated to raising funds to be used to
create events year round to support the arts and the
community.
We need your help.
We are looking for sponsors and donations that will
be used to build and sustain our roster of events.
These events offer local artists a venue to perform
and free and/or inexpensive access to the arts for the
general public.

The OBA’s signature event is the annual Onset Blues
Festival. This is the longest running blues festival on
Cape Cod with over 23 years of amazing
performances. Award winning local and national
bands bring out a full day of entertainment and
outstanding music.
Past performers include Lil Ed Williams (2 time
Blues Music Award Bank of the Y ear) John Nemeth
(Soul blues Male Artist of the Y ear), Martha’s
Vineyard’s legendary Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish,
and Gracie Currin & The High Falutin Band (2014
Blues Artist of the Y ear)

In 2014, the OBA added the Onset Street Painting
Festival. Aspiring artists from all over New England
came to create art on the walkways of Prospect Park.
The event featured street artist, Stephanie Dolph of
Connecticut and included the musical participation
of Mark Small, Onset Blues Festival performer
(2013) and winner of the Blues Blast Music Award
for Best Acoustic Blues Album 2014.

Every Wednesday night during the summer,
residents and tourists enjoy The Summer of Love
Concert series. Featuring local bands, the music
ranges from rock to funk, jazz and pop. Our
audiences enjoy this free concert on the band shell
next to the harbor for a captivating three hour show.
The Lillian Gregerman Band Shell is a decades old
landmark in Onset. Situated in a big, open park
across from the town pier, it is the ideal location for a
summer evening concert.

For over 120 years, Onset has enjoyed Illumination
Night. In this beloved Onset summer custom, more
than 1,200 flares are placed at intervals on the beach
all around the harbor and around Wicket’s Island,
then lit simultaneously.
The night is made complete with an old fashion New
Orleans Dixieland Band that march through the
village.
