18-Musa_0
Prophet from among their brethren, like unto
thee”…
Injeel Acts 3:20-22 “And he [Allah] shall send Jesus
Christ [Isa al-Masih], which before was preached
unto you: Whom the heavens must receive until
the times of restitution of all things, which God
[Allah] hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy
prophets since the world began. For Moses truly
said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your
God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto
me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he
shall say unto you.”
It makes it very clear in the Injeel, that Isa al-Masih
would be sent who would be like the prophet Musa.
It was referring to Isa and not to someone else.
How can we be sure? Just in case we did not get
it the first time, in mercy it is being repeated with
added statements which tell us who is this person?
Injeel Acts 7:37-38 ‘This is that Moses, which said
unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord
your God [Allah] raise up unto you of your brethren,
like unto me [Musa]; him shall ye hear. This is he
[Isa], that was in the church [ummah of believers] in
the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in
the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received
the lively oracles to give unto us’:
Injeel Acts 7:52 Clearly the messenger Stephen
told the Jews of old… “Which of the prophets have
not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain
them which shewed before of the coming of the Just
One [Isa al-Masih]; of whom ye have been now the
betrayers and murderers.”
Be Like Prophet Musa
It tells us that this person who would be like the
prophet Moses (Musa), would also be the same
person who was with those who came out of Egypt
and was with those in the wilderness when Allah’s
voice was heard from Mount Sinai. It was Isa
al-Masih who was there. This is made
very clear in this verse. It was not the prophet
Mohammed who was there in the wilderness, but Isa
al-Masih. So now we understand that Isa al-Masih
was the One who was referred to here in this text
of Deuteronomy 18:15 & 18 and not the prophet
Mohammed. If we are patient and inquiring we will find
that Scripture will always interpret or explains itself.
It was Isa who was to lead the believers out from
bondage as did the prophet Moses. Moses lead Israel
out from slavery of Egypt to freedom. They passed
through the wilderness deserts. Moses endured
many struggles, at times the ones which had been
freed from Egyptian slavery wanted to take Moses’
life because they became impatient and tired. Even
so Isa al-Masih, in the same way is leading a people,
those who believe out from the wilderness of sin
and darkness into the glorious liberty of truth. Isa
is leading a people to the promised land, heaven,
in much the same manner as did Moses lead the
children of Israel out of Egypt into Canaan the
promised land.
We now look forward not to an earthly Canaan but a
Heavenly. A goodly land where peace forever reigns
and where those who desire peace will be found. A
peaceful people who love truth will be there. People
whose lives have been changed by the One who has
been leading them all along.
May you and I be among the Mutaqeen (Righteous)
as we allow the Prophet like Moses, Isa al-Masih to
lead us. May Allah grant you to be among them is my
humble prayer (du’a) this day.

A Prophet
Like Musa

Assalamu’ Alaikum!
May the peace of Allah be upon you and may He
guide your life. Much discussion has involved the
text found in the Bible Scriptures which is the title
of our topic today. It is noted by many scholars
that this verse in the Bible is pointing forward to
the prophet Mohammed! Taurat Deuteronomy
18:15,18 “The LORD thy God [Allah] will raise up
unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy
brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken. I
[Allah] will raise them up a Prophet from among their
brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his
mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall
command him.”
Intelligent scholars will freely quote the above verses
and confidently say, this is the desert prophet which
it is referring to here in the ‘Taurat’ Deuteronomy of
the Old Testament Scriptures. From a casual glance
it seems certain that this may be true. However we
need to further investigate these claims. There are
many who state claims because it sounds good, but
wait isn’t there some scholars who claim that the
Bible Scriptures have been corrupted? They say
that they have been falsified so that we cannot trust
them. Then why can Muslim scholars quote from a
source which they feel have been corrupted? How
do they know that the very verses they quote are not
themselves among the corrupted? It is all a puzzle
or so it seems, unless we search out the facts from
fiction.
“To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming
the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in
safety: so judge between them by what Allah hath
revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging
from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each
among you have we prescribed a law and an open
way. If
Allah had so willed, He would
have made you a single people, but (His plan is)
to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in
a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah; it is
He that will show you the truth of the matters in which
ye dispute.” Sura 5:48 Al-Maeda
The Honored Qur’an makes it very clear that Allah
who sends the Scriptures is also guarding them.
When Allah sends down His word it is the Word of
truth. It never becomes obsolete. He had sent the
Taurat through Musa, the Zabur (Psalms) through
Daud (David) and the Injeel through Isa al-Masih.
How can mortal man confirm that which was
previously sent is now corrupted or falsified? And
who is he which is above Allah, and who would be
able to stand in the judgement and make claims that
Allah’s truth, the Taurat & Injeel, which were sent are
corru8pted? Perhaps there are many verses in the
Holy Books which appear to the casual reader to be
misleading. But upon earnest prayer (du’a) and even
with fasting (saum) these words can be understood.
Remember that spiritual things are spiritually
discerned.
Injeel Matthew 11:25 “At that time Jesus [Isa al-Masih]
answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of
heaven and earth, because thou [Allah] hast hid these
things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed
them unto babes [humble learners].”
Humble Learners
Unless we are among the humble learners and if
we are wise in our own eyes we will miss the things
heaven is trying to reveal to us. It is therefore
necessary that we pray for humility and to receive the
spirit of a learner. Who among us can teach Allah?
Who can know more than He? Again it tells us in the
Injeel the following…
Injeel 1 Corinthians 2:14 “But the natural man
receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they
are
foolishness
unto him: neither can
he know them, because they
are spiritually discerned.”
It would certainly be a terrible insult to Allah,
who has without question sent down previous
words for mankind, to even suggest that He, Allah
cannot keep His word in tact from evil minds. Is not
Allah stronger than the Jinn (fallen spirits) or those
affected by them? Then we must be among those
who believe and not doubt. For a confirmed doubter
will receive nothing from Allah except eternal loss.
Remember Allah never fails in His
promise
“Our Lord! Thou art He that will gather mankind
Together against a day about which there is no
doubt; for Allah never fails in His promise.” Sura 3:9
Aal-E-Imran. Allah has promised that what He sends
down He will guard from corruption.
“We have, without doubt, sent down the Message;
and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).”
Sura 15:9 Al-Hijr
There are those who doubt as to what Allah has
revealed. Then the Honoured Qur’an tells us that
if we are in doubt, then ask those who were given
the Book (Bible Scriptures) beforehand. Sura 10:94
Yunus. If thou wert in doubt as to what We have
revealed unto thee, then ask those who have been
reading the Book from before thee: the Truth hath
indeed come to thee from thy Lord: so be in no wise
of those in doubt. Sura 10:94 Yunus
Today we wish to ask those who have been reading
the Book, the Bible Scriptures the truth regarding
who was the person it speaks about in the Taurat
Deuteronomy 18:18 “I [Allah] will raise them up a
