Dear Kababayans,
Come celebrate with ALL another year of preserving and remembering the traditions and culture of the
Filipinos in North Texas through the celebration of independence day of the Philippines!
On June 7, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the “Pista Sa Nayon” or Filipino Festival, another
annual major event celebrated by Filipinos who lived in North Texas, will again be at Traders Village,
2602 Mayfield Road, in Grand Prairie. Traders Village, one of the largest flea markets in the United
States, offered a huge pavilion called then Green Pavilion, for the comfort of the festival goers. The
event will start with the parade of banners, followed by the program showcasing Filipino and other
multi-ethnic cultural presentations, choirs, bands, pageant and songs. Vendors will sell exquisite
paraphernalia and delicacies. There will be games for adults and children, elbow rubbing among
families and friends. The Santacruzan, a beauty pageant procession honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary,
winds up the activity. Around 20,000 visitors are expected on this year’s festival. Impelled by the need to
strengthen the bond of solidarity among them, majority of the different Filipino American
organizations, churches, business establishments join forces to celebrate their precious independence
won by their forefathers from Spain 116 years ago. PRDC aims to reach the 40,000 Filipino-Americans
residing in the DFW Metroplex, who make significant contributions to the local economy as doctors,
nurses, engineers, teachers, other professions and business entrepreneurs.
Please forward to your email lists. Thank you.
Sincerely yours,
Eveng Cava
President, PRDC
