Good Afternoon to you all.
Ross Has Talent got underway at assembly last week, and we look forward to seeing the many
great acts. The finals for this will be next term.
SNAP TV continues to be going well this year. We are currently working on a web site that will
house all our feature stories and copies of each of the shows. It’s great to see the quality
improving with every broadcast.
Finally, congratulations to our Super sport rugby boys who braved the wet conditions to take
part. Not a win but some great games were reported.

MAXIMUS SAYS… Mufti day Friday 27th August, gold coin donation. Dress up as what you want to be when you grow up! SUPER SPORT RUGBY
The Ross rugby team travelled to Wanganui yesterday to compete for the Super Sport banner. It
was a wet and windy day, but this did not affect the quality of the play in the tournament. The Ross
side started well earning a 5 - 5 draw against Levin. Unfortunately, the team lost their next two
matches to the eventual finalists in closely fought encounters. In the play off for 5th & 6th place the
team thrashed Feilding Intermediate by 52 - 0 to finish the tournament on a high – Warrick Price
(rugby coach).
TOUCH RUGBY
The Touch Rugby season is approaching fast. We are looking for as many parents to coach or
manage teams as possible. There is a lot of interest from students to play touch and the teams are
only limited by how many coaches we can find. If you can help to coach a team please contact
Paora Pomare on [email protected].
CHARITY TRIP TO CAMBODIA
Jordan Nicholson of Room 9 is off on an exciting charity adventure this term. He leaves for
Cambodia on 22nd September. Jordan’s whole family are travelling together. His parents have been
many times previously, but this is the first time the whole family is going. They are going along on
a church based charity project for their church, Salt West which is part of Salt Global. The family
help out at a local school that was built on funds raised by the church previously. His father, a
builder, will be lending a hand with construction, and the family will be involved in a variety of
“hands on” helping tasks. Jordan is hoping to fundraise $280, which will provide each student with
a pack containing a pencil, pen and book. They would love your help. If you are able to make a
cash donation or send along one of the above mentioned stationery items to the school office, that
would be very much appreciated. Many thanks, the Nicholson family.
PTA MEETING – 7PM ON TUESDAY 31ST AUGUST
To all parents and caregivers, you are welcome to come along to our next PTA Meeting - see what
the PTA does and can do for the students of our school. Share your ideas for fundraising, and
topics you would like discussed at future meetings from a teacher representative or Principal.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT - Leanne Duncan (Chairperson).
MANAWATU SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FAIR
This will be held at the PN Community Leisure Centre, Ferguson Street, Palmerston North and is
open for public viewing on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th August from 10am – 2pm.
2011 ENROLMENT PACKS
We are currently visiting our contributing schools at the moment and handing out enrolment
information. If you know someone wanting to come to Ross Intermediate, please contact the office
and we can send a pack out to them. The Enrolment Scheme will not restrict enrolments made in
Term 3 of this year for a 2011 enrolment. All enrolments received in Term 3 will be accepted.
