From the General Manager
Barry McDonald
Sawgrass Country Club is proud to announce it has been designated as
one of America’s Healthiest Clubs by Prevo Health Solutions, which
is a wellness solutions provider in the club industry. In November, our
club went through an on-site club evaluation that included five categories: fitness, nutrition, staff, members, and facilities. Upon qualifying,
we received a health score and a detailed evaluation that outlines current and future strategies. “With an impressive fitness facility, healthy
menu options, golf and tennis conditioning, and complimentary health
seminars, Sawgrass Country Club offers more wellness related services
than 90% of clubs in the nation,” Prevo Health Solutions determined in
the final report. In addition to our new fitness facility, we scored well
by having healthy diet options; the fitness department and food and
beverage continually developing new and unique options to enhance
members’ fitness regimen including the “Fit-Fuel” program and adding
healthy food offerings for members and employee meals.
We are preparing for what has to be a very pivotal year for Sawgrass
Country Club. According to our Master Facilities Plan and Our Golf
Course Master Plan, we will conclude our beach club renovation work
and complete our three year golf course renovation and end the larger
project distractions that our members and residents have been exposed
to for the past few years. Thank you all for your understanding.
We are preparing for what has to be

We are optimistic that the cold weather is behind us and we can begin
to prepare for less severe temperatures for the springtime. We have a

fun-filled St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th at the Beach Club that will
feature our own “Pub Crawl” theme along with music from the Firewater
Tent Revival that many of our members really enjoy. Also this month,
you will see the return of Sundae Mondays with $3 burgers and the
Tuesday Fish Fry in mid-March. March will also bring the Bass Master
Fishing Tournament.
The Fit Fuel program that began in January continues to receive great
reviews as our team is now packaging over 500 meals to be picked up on
Tuesdays. Member dining is on the rise as we are seeing many Friday and
Saturdays sold out at the Beach Club. Last month the Deadliest Catch
was a big hit and the wine dinners sold out, as usual. And, if you have
never attended the Chili Cook-off, you may be missing one our most fun
and well attended events of the year. Our Chili cook-off in February was
the most highly attended ever and a real crowd pleaser. This year’s winning chili by Mary Fedak will be featured on the Golf Clubhouse menu
though March. Also in March our popular Pasta Night and Seafood
buffet returns. And as a signal to warmer weather, Sundowners on the
Oasis deck will begin in late April.
As a member of Sawgrass Country Club I think you can all be proud
of our club and our accomplishments from the past several years. This
month I am recognizing the Membership Department for all they do to
make our members’ experiences extra special. They have had an incredible year in recruitment and are still working hard to maintain our excellent position in 2015.
Thank you all who filled out their member survey. Nearly 890 responses
were received in February including members and spouses. This information will be gathered and shared with the membership in April.
