•  In 2001, Tataskweyak Cree Nation and War Lake First Nation
formed a partnership, the Cree Nation Partners, because of
our shared interest in future hydroelectric development that
will impact our traditional lands.
•  The Cree Nation Partners, have developed a business
partnership with Manitoba Hydro that will permit us to own
up to 15% of the Keeyask Generating Station.
•  In addition, the CNP, along with other First Nations, are
currently working with Manitoba Hydro to examine potential
development of the Conawapa Generating Station.

CNP TRAINING SERVICES
Providing the Link Between Contractors and Aboriginal Workers
•  Work with General Civil Contractor (GCC) and Manitoba Hydro
to develop a strategy to maximize the number of Aboriginal
trainees

Iron North Limited Partnership
Iron North Limited Partnership was formed in 2011 and is
100% owned by the Tataskweyak Cree Nation of Northern
Manitoba.
By combining our resources with strategic partners we are
able to diversify our offerings for any and all construction
projects in preparation of the Keeyask Project and all other
future projects.
Our strategy is to grow and access larger contracts and
opportunities in Manitoba by creating synergies with our
companies and creating strategic alliances and partnerships.
With over two years operating independently and with a
development team of over seven years, our team of project
managers, technicians, procurement specialists,
administrative and support staff have been delivering
projects on time, on budget, and at the highest level of
quality.
Part of our company’s mission statement is to promote local
employment and training initiatives and to enhance local
economic development.

strengthen the Tataskweyak Cree Nation by developing and
delivering construction projects that will provide socioeconomic opportunities for the Cree Nation while maximizing

Iron North Limited Partnership
Capability and experience in managing and undertaking
major projects in remote and semi-remote areas either
directly, through its subsidiaries or in partnership within the
Cree Territories.
In peak construction period, Iron North employs
approximately 75 workers.

• Civil Engineering/Civil Construction
-Roadwork, municipal infrastructure, water and sewage
networks & treatment facilities, excavation, earth
moving, dikes, dams, and other heavy equipment
related projects.
• Environments and Special Projects
-Managing projects related to reforestation, tree
clearing for roads, & hydro electrical development
needs, power transmission lines, campsite installation
and operation, and other environmental projects.
• Building Works
-Schools, sports and recreational centers, office and
other industrial and commercial facilities. INLP also
designs and builds housing.

In 2012 a partnership between the Cree Nation Partners (Tataskweyak First Nations and War
Lake First Nations) and Newton mechanical / Electrical Inc. formed to provide maintenance
services to MB Hydro for the Keeyask Infrastructure and generating station project. Providing a
strong leadership background and past history of experience completing successful Northern
Projects, Newton Mechanical / Electrical Inc. and the first nations are working together as one.
Our Joint Venture partnership holds a vast variety of red seal trades from teamsters, labourers,
carpenters, electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, welders, and heavy duty mechanics. Our project
management team has over 100 years of experience working in northern remote locations on
commercial / Industrial projects. The Wuskwatim Hydro Generating station project Mechanical /
electrical was a project that our current General manager / Co-owner managed. His experience
in industrial mechanical projects and business relations has had a substantial impact on the
growth of NME in a positive way. Please see below for some of the current / past projects that
Newton Mechanical / Electrical Inc. accomplished.

Aboriginal Strategies L.P. (ASLP) is located in Winnipeg and is fully owned
by Tataskweyak Cree Nation. It has been serving First Nations in Manitoba
and Northwestern Ontario since 1993, providing a wide range of
professional services. These services are designed to provide the expertise
and support to enable our clients to take effective and efficient control over
their financial and administrative affairs. ASLP strives to be mindful of its
clients’ goals and to actively engage both the leadership and front-line staff
to accomplish the work for which it has been engaged.
These services include accounting and financial advice; assistance with
developing and maintaining comprehensive community budgets; financial
monitoring; capital project financial administration and monitoring; debt
recovery plans; accounting training; payroll training; human resource
management training; Board of Director training; development of
accounting systems and payroll solutions; technical assistance for
accounting software; systems analysis, computer network and workstation
installation; policy development; negotiations with Federal and Provincial
agencies; and loan applications and negotiations.
Aboriginal Strategies offers classroom style workshops from its training
facility in Winnipeg as well as one-on-one training and group training at the
client’s site.
ASLP has a well-rounded staff of eleven accountants with expertise in all
areas of accounting, administration, capital management, small business
management, Federal and Provincial funding requirements, and banking
requirements. They have the technological capacity to assist clients
remotely, which allows them to serve their clients in a timely and cost
effective manner.
