BROKEN DANCERS
Spring, 2007
Broken Dancers, a group of five Russian orphans, will be making their third tour to the United States this
coming year with an exciting and energetic show that is sure to thrill audiences. The group of teens is from
an orphanage in Penza, Russia. The group was formed by two brothers several years ago after they visited
St. Petersburg and saw some street dancers performing on a corner. Combining acrobatic stunts, hip hop,
jazz, break dancing and traditional Russian folk dancing, the talented team enthusiastically performs to
American music as they tell their life stories and how to be an overcomer in Christ.
Over the past three years, the group has performed for more than 50,000 people in Chicago, Dallas,
and Ft. Worth. They have appeared on the CBS Morning Show in Dallas/Ft. Worth, NBC, Fox News, and
have taped a one-hour concert on TBN. They have performed for large crowds at Grapevine Mills Mall,
SMU McFarlin Auditorium, Will Rogers Coliseum, Fair Park Science Place, Scottish Rite Hospital, Ft. Worth
Juvenile Center, Gainesville State School, Daly Center in downtown Chicago, and for thousands of
students in Elementary, Jr. High and High Schools around Dallas, Chicago and Ft. Worth. The group
has also made radio appearances and has been featured in special articles in the Dallas Morning
News and Chicago newspapers.
The Broken Dancers currently live in Penza, Russia, a city of 800,000 people located about 500 miles
southwest of Moscow. They are sponsored by Spoken For International Youth Outreach, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Grapevine, Texas. Spoken For is an outreach organization that focuses
on helping youth at risk around the world. Spoken For primarily serves in Russia, Africa and South Dallas.
The Broken Dancer tour is a non-profit tour with the goal of giving these incredible youth from Penza the
opportunity to share and perform as well as giving audiences around America a show that will
impact everyone for years to come. The show is suitable for all ages and can be performed anywhere that
has a flat surface. Spoken For provides lighting, sound and the flooring for the show. It takes 15 minutes to
set up the show. There are 20-minute, 30-minute, 45-minute, and 1-hour shows depending on the time
allotted. The guys are available for autographs and pictures as well as questions and answers. In addition
to the five performers, the team includes a van driver, two chaperones, a translator, a sound and light
technician, and two stage hands that tour with the show.
There are no performance fees for the show.
The tour is 100% funded by donations; all financial
contributions to the tour are tax-deductible and are what make the show possible.
