Letter From Director
God Knows Our Needs Before We Do - Susan Baldwin
In October our ultrasound machine
broke down for the second time.
The repairs were extraordinary and
our 6 year old machine was no
longer manufactured. Deanna and I
prayed for God’s help and
guidance. We were seeing on
average 5 abortion minded girls
daily. We had to act fast. We were
reminded of a gentleman, Austin
Boyd, whom I had never met. We
had spoken on the phone as he had
heard we were opening a center
across from Planned Parenthood
and wanted to help us. I called
immediately to see if he thought

that
Decatur

to ask if the Women’s Resource Center had raised the $12,500 to match
their donation. I immediately called
their pastor, Doug Ripley, and
explained our situation. He assured
me the money was ours if we raised
the rest. In faith, I said “I know we

two positive home pregnancy tests,
I became very fearful of the
responsibility of raising a child alone. I
had thoughts of having an abortion. I
ended up at the Women’s Resource

test was confirmed. My counselor
gently shared I was pregnant and
brought me a small 12 week old
model of a baby to hold. She shared
about my options and with all the
information and even seeing the model
of “the baby” it was all still very
surreal to me. On leaving the center I

pregnancy, whether to keep “the baby”
or not. The realization began to fall on
me that it wasn’t “the baby’s” fault and
that “the baby” didn’t ask to come here.
It wasn’t until the ultrasound of “the

pregnant and was soon to be a mama.
This was when “the baby” became MY

even 5 months after giving birth that

Celebrating the Past and Envisioning the Future
Dear Friends for Life,
The year 2010 began with the dedication of our new center for life at 718 Downtowner Loop on
January 31st. Faithful supporters from the Body of Christ joined to affirm Godly pillars of
righteousness over the Women’s Resource Centers of Mobile and Saraland. Together we proclaimed
Truth, Salvation, Life, Purity, Healing, and Hope as the spiritual foundations of this ministry.
While 2009 was our 25th Anniversary and our most productive year ever, 2010 exceeded our highest
expectations. It was truly the Lord’s Will for us to be across the street from Planned Parenthood.
Honestly, this has been the most difficult year I can remember for Sav-A-Life volunteers and staff because daily we see the
women “stumbling to destruction” (Proverbs 24:11) and grieve for everyone we cannot reach. Nevertheless, by God’s Grace we
are available to minister to many who would never have known the Lord’s Love otherwise.
Both the Saraland and Downtowner Centers have ministered to about one fifth more clients than in the previous year. We have
had baby showers, youth group visits, Sunday School Class visits, the largest Baby Bottle Boomerang fundraiser ever (46
churches), and an amazing Walk For Life around Downtowner Loop with almost 400 walkers showing their passion for the
Sanctity of Human Life. We have been featured on “Speak Up” with Eric Reynolds, who also has joined Hugh Lopes to help
launch the “Man Up” program which reflects our desire to be a part of the Fatherhood Initiative to reach men and help them
become Godly fathers. Our outreach to women seeking healing for abortions has doubled, and we are continuing to expand the
Earn While You Learn program as well as our Parenting Classes and Labor and Delivery Classes. If you are not now a part of
all this, we invite you to ask God if there is something here that you feel called to support.
This past year has been a year of miracles and, as we look to 2011, we are expecting God to Move Mountains. Please begin this
year by supporting Sanctity of Human Life Sunday on January 23rd, our Banquet on March 28th, and our daily ministry to the
many men and women who are in crisis. Also, we would love to have you visit us at the centers so you can see for yourselves
what the Lord is doing.
For Life,
