? Did you know that . . .
• Oil paintings generally cost
less to frame than equally
sized prints
• Lighting on a painting needs
to be dimmer at night and
brighter during the day
• Reputable galleries offer the
same prices as their artists
offer directly
• An artist's best work is
usually sent to his most
productive gallery to sell
• Most artists are left handed
• Giclee prints are just high
quality ink-jet prints on fancy
paper or canvas
• Most couples do not agree on
artwork for their home,
initially.
• Art prices are set just like
other prices--by supply and
demand
• Most art buyers acquire it to
enhance their home interiors
• Art has surpassed the stock
market in appreciation over
the past twenty years
• Added lighting almost always
enhances a painting,
regardless of style or color.
But use caution with your
type of lighting. Fluorescent
lighting causes more fading
of artwork than incandescent
lighting

Buy A" !
Easy Way
Purchase Art on Layaway! How many
times have you returned to purchase that
special piece of art days after you first
saw it and it was gone?
It only takes one time to know the
feeling of disappointment. When you
don’t want to use a credit card and you
don’t have the cash on hand for your art
purchase, consider using Hunter-Wolff
Gallery’s layaway plan. You won’t risk
missing out on the artwork you love.
Layaway purchase plans are designed to
reserve your purchase without using
credit or paying the full price
immediately.
Dumb!”), not using your credit card
when you can’t pay the balance off
immediately, layaway can be the perfect
solution.
When you buy an item on credit, you
take the merchandise home with you but
then you are likely to pay a premium to
your credit card holder while you make
installment payments. When you use
layaway, however, you agree to a nonrefundable deposit equal to a percentage
of the purchase price and pay over time
at no extra charge.
Unlike credit card purchases, no extra
fees are added to your purchase. In
addition, using a layaway plan lets you
"reserve" a purchase before it is
snatched up by someone else. This is
particularly important when considering
a one-of-a-kind gallery item that cannot
be reproduced.
Depending on the
overall cost, most layaways are
scheduled for final payment within a
few months.
While making regular installment
payments according to a schedule your
item is removed from the selling floor so
that others can't purchase it. If you
decide to cancel your layaway purchase,
however, you risk losing your deposit.
Then the merchandise is returned to the
selling floor and to account for the time
it was off the selling floor, a restock fee
is assessed and passed on as a final
settlement.
Our layaway purchase plan is not
limited to in store purchases. We also
offer layaway options for items that
clients find on our website or Facebook.
Our goal is to help you acquire the
artwork that you love without causing
financial stress. Layaway is easy; start
with a down payment and make regular
weekly or monthly payments and before
you know it, you will own beautiful
original artwork.
Because we want you to have the art
you love, we never add a handling fee or
any up-charge to your layaway. We do
remove the item from the sales floor and
it remains in storage reserved for you
until the final payment is made.
Why opt for layaway? A layaway plan
offers an alternative to make larger
purchases without upsetting the
household budget. As a fan of Dave
Ramsey (“Cash is King; Debt is

ArtistSpotlight
For nearly three years, we have been pleased to
offer patrons Clifford T. Bailey’s diverse collection
of oil and watercolor paintings. He has painted
more than a hundred paintings specifically for
Hunter-Wolff Gallery while keeping other galleries
in North Carolina, Nebraska and northern Colorado
as happy as us.
Bailey
Clifford is one of Hunter-Wolff Gallery's most
accomplished and popular artists. He has kept a
specific style (Stylized Realism) learned as a young
artist alive. The first image [right] is casually
referred to in our gallery as his “dot” paintings.
Over the years he has refined and put his own mark
on this style inspired by the late Disney illustrator
Eyvind Earle.
At 16 years old, Clifford was captivated with oil
painting and began exhibiting a short time later in
Scottsdale, AZ. He recalls one of his first shows,
“Here was a kid on a bicycle exhibiting next to
nationally known artists [like Eyvind Earle].” He
dropped out of college to pursue his passion
because he believed a degree in art meant teaching
and he really wanted to be a painter ... an artist. For
four decades, he has successfully followed his
calling.
Clifford tells us being an artist is solitary work;
work that is difficult and doesn’t include company
benefits, paid vacation or sick time, insurance plans
or 401K. “I doubt I will ever retire.” Instead, he is
driven to paint 10 to 12 hour days, six days a week.
It takes anywhere from five days to a month to
complete one of his paintings.
He claims he never tires of painting familiar
northern Colorado landscapes—the open plains,
mountains, fiery sunrises and sunsets, and pastural
rolling hills with cows or horses. Early in his career,
he referred to his own photographs and would scrap
50% of his work because he was not satisfied with
results. It is rare today but should a work of art not
take the direction intended, he might wash off the
painting and start over.
At his studio, he typically works on more than one
canvas at a time but assures us he takes a break to
play his cello. He has played guitar since he was
eleven and picked up the cello about eight years go.
Clifford welcomes custom work too as long as
requests are in keeping with his style. For example,
he has painted client’s favorite Colorado locations,
fishing holes, and completed pieces to meet specific
sizes. Stop in to see his current collection.
