Ministry Update
A Time of Growth~

Building a ministry and reaching kids always Area Director
takes me and there are no short cuts. It’s hard work and takes lots of prayer and much of God. As I pause to reflect to where we are in the growth process of Chippewa Valley Young Life, I am very pleased. We are adding an Eau Claire Club this fall, making giant strides into Fall Creek High School, and growing our prayer team and adult support in the community. We brought the largest group to camp this summer (more to come in the next newsle er) that this area has seen in a while.

More important than all of that is the way God is working in the lives of many teens who recently had no thought of Him. They have en-‐
tered a new journey with ques ons and a genuine desire and faith. So much is ahead of us. If you have not been involved or support us, now is the me. Eric Johnson, Area Director

A er many months of planning, includ-‐
ing praying for at least one wet-free May day in Wisconsin, the YL Chippewa Valley Golf Tourna-‐
ment came and went with spec-‐
tacular weather and many success-‐
es! This year’s golf fundraiser was on par with some of the best golf this side of Pebble Beach. Golfers did their best while having a blast at the area’s finest golf course, Wild Ridge. Arriving at the course, golfers were greeted with a variety of breakfast goodies, prize swag, and a chance for camara-‐
derie and good-natured shenanigans among old and new friends. And be-‐
fore the shotgun start, golfers were pu ng their way to ul mate bragging rights at the 50/50 style “Ul mate Pu ,” one of two new course events, including a golf-inspired Texas Style Hold ‘Em card game, to keep the ea-‐
gles from heading to the course too soon!
If a successful fundraiser is measured in monetary terms, then the 2013 YL Golf Ou ng was successful with raising over $22,000 from 62 area golfers! But if one measures success based on how well people were served, then this year can be considered a rousing success. The Golf Team Commi ee, Wild Ridge Golf Course, and headline sponsor DJ’s Mart would like to see YOU golfing your way to a great me on May 15, 2014! Mark your calendars and plan to get entered in the early registra on drawing, which included an iPad this year. As for next year’s prizes and event informa on, you’ll just have to keep your clubs close and an eye on the Young Life Chippewa Valley Mission Community Facebook page for details! Welcome Syd!
We are super excited to introduce you to Syd Washcovich. Syd is passionate and talented. She will be on what is called Student Staff through this school year. Student Staff are college students who desire to come on YL staff as their career. It will be a great fit for Syd and the area as well. She will raise half her modest support outside the Chippewa Valley and the other half will come from the cur-‐
rent budget. Ch

Hey everyone! My name is Syd, and I will be going on Student Staff with Chippewa Valley Young Life this fall. I am currently a student at UW-Eau Claire studying art educa on and hope to end up teaching high school art in the future. I came into college as a freshman thinking I wanted to study psychology, but realized pre y quickly that my real purpose is to come alongside people not as a profession-‐
al therapist or counselor, but simply as a friend. That is why I love Young Life! To me, there is nothing more beau ful than ge ng the chance to walk alongside the To me, there is nothing more kids and tell them how beau ful than ge ng the much they are loved by chance to walk alongside the Jesus. I hope kids and tell them how much to work for they are loved by Jesus. Young Life -Syd
for the rest of my life and minister to high school students by being a teacher who cares deeply for the everyday needs and worries of my younger friends. I feel extremely blessed to be part of this com-‐
munity and I have already been blown away by how God is transforming the lives of kids in the Eau Claire area. I am so grateful for any support you have to offer, be it financial or in prayer. Thank you for partnering with Young Life to show kids Jesus! If you would like to make a dona on towards Syd’s support, please note that on your dona on.
