PAYROLL DEDUCTION/DIRECT DEPOSIT
Two of the greatest advantages of credit union membership are Direct Deposit and Payroll Deduction.
Payroll Deduction enables you to deduct any amount from your paycheck to be sent directly to your
account at the Credit Union before you receive your check. You can also avoid the regular chore of
cashing your check by using Direct Deposit. Direct Deposit is a simple and convenient method of having
your ENTIRE paycheck deposited directly into your account at the Credit Union. Start Payroll Deduction
or Direct Deposit today!
VISA CHECK/DEBIT CARD
Our new VISA Check/Debit Card works just like writing a check, minus the hassle and time! You can
use the card at any merchant that accepts Visa (that’s more than 12 million locations). Using the card
is simple. When you’re ready to make a purchase, just hand it to the merchant or swipe it through the
scanner at the sales counter and select credit. Your purchase will be deducted electronically from your
Jackson Area Federal Credit Union checking account. And, you’ll be given a receipt to assist you with

I
t’s probably hard for some of us to believe, but the year is almost
half-way over. In the beginning of the year, some of you may
have made resolutions to eat better and exercise more. And for
some of you leading a healthier lifestyle included boosting your
credit health. Have you stuck to those resolutions? Now’s a good
time to take a look at your credit and financial goals. Consider the
following tips when you’re looking at your credit health:
• Actively monitor your credit score. Purchasing a home, paying
off a loan and opening new credit card accounts can all affect your
credit score. Managing your score throughout the year means you’ll
know your financial position and what interest rates to expect when
it comes time to apply for a loan.
• Check your credit report from all three of the major credit reporting agencies on a regular basis. Correct errors on your report and
carefully check each account to ensure that it was, in fact, you who
opened the account.
Reviewing your credit
file regularly could
not only help you
manage your credit
score, but it could
help you detect identity theft which often goes unnoticed for months. It also means that
you know exactly what’s on your credit report—so there won’t be
any unexpected surprises when it comes time to open a line of credit
or apply for a loan.
• Pay down debt. This probably sounds obvious, but many of us
try to put this off until later. Paying down some of your debt now
means you’ll pay less in interest which could save you money over
the course of the year.
You are allowed to request a free credit report once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies:
Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
