Brand New Facilities for Avio-Diepen
the Netherlands and AD-S&Co
State of the art and impressive facilities; that is the impression most of our visitors have
when entering the brand new premises in Alphen aan den Rijn, the Netherlands.
Standing in the center of the building, it is hard
to imagine that the same area was once the
logistics center of Avio-Diepen, filled with racks
containing many thousands of parts.
When it became clear that AD-NL outgrew
its warehouse and offices at the Keplerweg
and needed to move to a much larger facility,
it also became apparent that the newly freed
up space in the building would allow us to
relocate all AD-NL administrative departments,
the corporate organization, as well as AD-S&Co
into one efficiently managed facility. Merging
all Avio-Diepen staff into one building with an
open office environment resulted in dramatically
improved efficiency in administrative processes
and communication. It also enhances the synergy
between Corporate, AD-NL and AD-S&Co and
results in a reduction in facility costs which will
benefit our customers and suppliers alike.
After the main warehouse facilities had been
relocated to its new premises towards the
end of 2009, the architect who designed the
original and unique Keplerweg facility back in
the mid 90’s, was asked to study the options
for housing the entire staff into a redesigned
huge empty warehouse space. Tackling different
challenges, such as regulations regarding
daylight levels and energy containment, climate
control and a fast growing organization,
several designs were presented. After careful
considerations, and further optimizing and
detailing of the design, we applied for the
necessary permits from the local authorities.
We received the official documents on Friday
October 8 of 2010 and quickly made a start
with the construction work.
Construction
The remainder of 2010 was used to create the
foundation for the five-meter extension, removing
the facade at the back, and assembling the
steel construction for the concrete second floor.
For the office staff this meant that the winter cold
controlled the building and having to fight the
cold with back-up heaters. Only when outside
temperatures remained above the freezing
point and the facades gradually closed and
insulated, did working temperatures rise to an
acceptable level. With the building closed and
the roof made watertight, the interior furnishers
and installers of heating and electricity could
now start their work in order to finish the job by
the end of March. We would like to take this
opportunity to thank all personnel for keeping
up the spirit and quality work during these
extreme circumstances.
Moving In
Although some jobs had not yet been completely
finished, enough office space was completed
by the end of March to house the staff located
in the Röntgenweg office building. Some
departments on the Keplerweg had to relocate
simultaneously, resulting in a couple of days
of moving furniture and boxes from old to new
offices, and relocating everything from the office
on the Röntgenweg to the Keplerweg. A couple
of weeks later, all furnishings were finished, and
AD-S&Co could move in as well, including their
complete warehouse, now located in the former
AD-NL receiving and shipping facility.
Company Identity
One of the priorities set by colleagues involved
in this project was to create a clear company
identity in the building. Supported by advice
from the architects, we opted for a floor
furnishing sporting the company colors orange
and blue and using multi-colored striping to
connect spaces divided by glass walls. With
an eye towards the business environment in
which our company thrives we added the
unique feature of incorporating a lit runway in
the central area of the main facility. Looking
back at the project, Vincent van Campen,
Avio-Diepen’s CEO, mentioned in his speech
on the occasion of the official opening that
we see the transformation of the Alphen aan
den Rijn facility as a logical consequence of
our continued strong growth and that this will
greatly contribute to the successful transition of
Avio-Diepen from Distributor to Supply Chain
Solutions provider.

Ancra International and Avio-Diepen Introduce New
Concept of Quick Install / Quick Release Seat Fittings
Ancra International and Avio-Diepen are on
the verge of introducing a new generation
of quick install- / quick release seat track
fittings to the aerospace seats market. This
new line of seat track fittings is designed to
meet the latest requirements of the market,
such as Airbus A350 interface, as well as
for the latest Regional Jet designs.
Installing quick release fittings on seats
allows airlines to change configuration
when desired, a way to increase revenue
and/or to reduce fuel costs. It will
also reduce the turn around times for
maintenance cycles, as well as initial
installation in the Aircraft.
Prototypes of the new generation fittings will
be demonstrated at the NBAA Conference in
Las Vegas on October 10th – 12th. We invite
you to visit our Booth (N4925), to view this
exciting new product line and we welcome
your feedback on this new development.
For inquiries ahead of the conference,
please contact Koen Boendermaker at
