Sports events --The Match: B&H-IRELAND
13th November 2015, a very important football match took place in Zenica. Our dragons welcomed
Irish players at the stadium „Bilino polje“.
That day excitement could be felt in the air.Everyone was talking only about that match and
everyone expected victory.Children were wearing jerseys of their favourite players ,kicking the ball
all day long ,and just thinking about evening ,about the result and imagining goals of their favourite
players. But not only children ,girls ,men ,women ,old people ,young people ,literally everyone. The
evening came ,streets were empty ,TV’s on ,excitment ,...and silence was overcoming.
The match finally started .The only surprise was Edin Cocalic ,who played from the first
minute.Together with him ,on the field entered Begovic ,Spahic ,Sunjic ,Mujdza,Zukanovic ,Pjanic,
Lulic ,Visca ,Ibisevic and Dzeko.
They were ready and prepaired for the match ,and also, they hoped to achieve good results and to
get out of the match as winners.
We had a lot of opportunities in the first half of the match, but we weren't lucky enough to make it
more than just an opportunity.
10
When the second half began suddenly the fog appeared.Players couldn't see anything ,it was very
hard to play in such conditions ,and even to watch the match.
We had many opportunities ,the same as in the first half ,but in 82nd minute Irish player,Brady,
scored a goal. Our players weren't depressed ,they only got more motivated.
In 85th minute Dzeko scored the goal for our representation and happiness was endless.
The end result was 1:1.
But beside everything,we were satisfied. We were proud of our dragons. They were figthing as much
as they could ,despite bad conditions. After the match there were some jokes about the bad
conditions (fog) and here are some of them:
„I think it's better to listen to the radio.“
„What is the price for this fog?“
„I can't recognise which ones are ours.“
„Can the referee tell us what the result is?“
„We can take 7 more players ,no one will notice.“

Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Statehood Day: November 25. Statehood Day is a public holiday in Bosnia
and Herzegovina. In the Federation, 25th November is celebrated as Statehood Day. On this
day in 1943, the Anti-Fascist Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZAVNOBiH) adopted a
resolution declaring Bosnia and Herzegovina an equal community of Serbs, Muslims and
Croats.
History of Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina
On25th November 1943 the first session ZAVNOBIH (National Anti-Fascist Council of
National Liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina) was held. At the meeting it was decided to
renew BiH statehood, where its historical borders were confirmed, and Bosnia was defined
as one of the six equal republics of the former Yugoslavia.
On 25th November 1943. Bosnia and Herzegovina renewed its statehood, which was lost in
1463., when Bosnia came under the administration of the Ottoman Empire.
A few days after the Decision of ZAVNOBIH was confirmed, it became official at the First
Session of AVNOJ (Anti-Fascist Council of National Liberation of Yugoslavia) in Jajce.
Bosnia and Herzegovina received the flag and coat of arms in 1945, which were recognizable
and main symbols of socialism, until 1992 and the beginning of the aggression on Bosnia
and Herzegovina.
12
The most important fact and conclusion of the session ZAVNOBiH is that Bosnia and
Herzegovina was defined as a unitary and indivisible state in which all people have the
same rights. It should be added that the decision of the ZAVNOBIH was confirmed by 247
ZAVNOBIH councilors.
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Statehood Day Traditions, Customs and Activities
Even though Statehood Day is a nationwide public holiday in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the
celebrations are only held in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Republika Srpska prefers to observe the holiday on November 21.
The country has been shattered and living with painful memories since 1992, the time of
war.
The Dayton Agreement brought peace to the region, but the country is controlled by a
president and two co-presidents, making it difficult to agree on a certain day of celebration
for the country’s National Day.
Despite politics, Statehood Day is still celebrated on November 25 as a sort of National Day
in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Celebration of New Year and
Christmas
Winter reminds everyone of New Year and
Christmas. That is the season when the Earth is shining more than in any other season. In
Bosnia, just before the 25th December, all towns are being decorated with sparking plugs
and lamps. Apart from celebration of Christmas, there have been developed some other
customs like decorating the Christmas trees, singing Christmas songs and giving presents.
On Christmas all family is together. On Christmas Eve people go on Midnight Mass (before
that, all day they eat meatless food) and when they come back they eat different kinds
of food which is made on Christmas. The most famous food which is made is turkey and
cakes.
All around the world, with a lot of noise, music and dance, people celebrate upcoming
year. Celebration is similar in every country: fireworks are necessarily, so as table full of
food, and of course- being with the people you love. Dubai is the most famous place for
celebrating New Year because of their fireworks- it breaks the world's record in size and
duration. In Bosnia there are no special customs for celebration. Celebration starts at
night, everybody is beautiful and happy, but, for example, people in Japan clean their
houses all day for the upcoming year. On that way they 'repel dust' from the last year and
welcome the new one with clean houses. People choose different places to celebratesome of them celebrate in their houses, some at clubs or squares , and some of them,
who have an opportunity, choose to go abroad. The most common places abroad where
people go to celebrate New Year are Istanbul, Sydney, Dubai, Paris, Vienna, London. New
Year doesn't come at the same time all around the world. In Australia, New Year comes
before than in Europe and in America it comes later than in Europe. The common places
where you can celebrate New year in Bosnia are square in Sarajevo, mountains Vlašić and
Bjelašnica, different restaurants and hotels. On midnight, all around the world, there are
fireworks, people hug and kiss each other and wish all the best in New Year. Everybody is
full of hope that that the year that is coming iwill be better than the old one.

The Hunger Games novels, by the American author Suzanne Collins. Distributed by Lionsgate it
stars Jennifer Lawrence (as Katniss Everdeen), Josh Hutcherson (as Peeta Mellark), and Liam
Hemsworth (as Gale Hawthorne) in the three leading roles. The first three films set records at the

-The Hunger Games(2012): Every year,
in the ruins of what was once called North
America, the Capitol of the nation of Panem
forces each of its 12 districts to send a
teenage boy and a girl, between the ages of
12 and 18, to compete in the Hunger Games:
a nationally televised event in which "tributes"
fight each other within the arena, until one survivor remains. When Primrose Everdeen is selected,
her sister Katniss volunteers in her place to enter the games and is forced to rely upon her instincts
when she's pitted against other tributes.
15
16
-The Hunger Games (2013): Catching Fire Along with fellow District 12 victor Peeta Mellark, Katniss
Everdeen returned home safely after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games. Winning means that
they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the
districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much
in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games - the Quarter Quell - a
competition that could change Panem forever.
-The Hunger Games(2014): Mockingjay –
Part 1 Katniss Everdeen finds herself in
District 13 after she shatters the games
forever. Under the leadership of President
Coin and the advice of her trusted friends,
Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to
save Peeta, along with other victors and a
nation moved by her courage.
-The Hunger Games(2015):
Mockingjay- Part 2: Realizing the
stakes are no longer just for survival,
Katniss Everdeen teams up with her
closest friends, including Peeta, Gale,
and Finnick, for the ultimate mission.
Together, they leave District 13 to
liberate the citizens of war-torn Panem
and assassinate President Snow. What
lies ahead are mortal traps, dangerous
enemies, and moral choices that will
ultimately determine the future of
millions.

SPELLING BEE
18
What is a Spelling Bee?
In 19th century America, farmers often gathered together to perform work or even to celebrate.
Sometimes, these gatherings were called ''bees''. Competitions for children to participate spellings
also took this name. English words, unlike local language, do not follow logical spelling. For
example, the English words ''deer'' and ''here'' sound very similar, but have different spellings. This
requires extra attention and practice from students.
The first national spelling bee in America took place in 1925, with the top nine students invited to
the White House to meet the President. This tradition remains today and is a sign of the
importance and attention placed on spelling bees in the United States. These spelling bees now
take place in schools across the United States, as well as in England, Australia, Canada and many
non-English speaking countries, including Mexico, Indonesia and Germany.
 Introduction of the competition
A seperate word is given to each student. If none of the students fails to correctly spell the word,
the next student recieves a new one. If the student cannot correctly spell the word, he/she is
eliminated from the competition.
Each word is read aloud by the teacher three times: the first time, the word is alone, the second
time in context, and the third time alone again.
-Example: Teacher first says: ''Cat''.
Teacher then says: ''Cat. A pet that catches mice. Cat.''
The student may ask for the word to be repeated only once.
If the student provides the wrong letter, then he/she is out of the competition. However, the
student has one opportunity to correct him/herself during the spelling word, before pronouncing it.
End-of-bee procedure
If all spellers in a round misspell:
If none of the spellers remaining the spelling bee at the start of a round spells a word correctly
during that round, all remain in the competition and a new round begins.
If only one speller in a round spells correctly:
If only one speller spells the word correctly, is a winner.
To choose a second place winner:
If only two students were competing in the final round: The second place winner will be the speller
who is not the champion.
If more than two students competed during the final round: After the champion is declared, all the
other spellers who reached the final round will start a new round. The same rules stand for this
round as well.
19

22nd April – International Earth Day
The annual observance of the International Mother Earth Day by the United Nations on April 22 is
part of the UN’s efforts to raise awareness and appreciation of the Earth’s natural environment.
By declaring this International Day, Member States of the United Nations recognised their
responsibility, as called for in the Rio Declaration, adopted at the 1992 United Nations Conference
on Environment and Development (UNCED), also known as the “Earth Summit”, to promote
harmony with nature and the planet to achieve a just balance among economic, social and
environmental needs of the present and future generations of humanity.
The term “Mother Earth” is used commonly in a number of countries and regions, to refer to the
planet earth, reflecting the interdependence that exists among human beings, other living species
and the planet we all inhabit.Today, International Mother Earth Day is celebrated in about 175
countries around the world.
But 22nd April is our School Day as well. We celebrate it every year, with music, dance, poetry
reading, art exhibitions and similar activities. The members of our clubs contribute as well. This
year some of them sang in English and French and read poems in English,French and German.

In Celebration of Earth Day
In celebration of Earth Day,
Why not plant a tree?
It will produce fresh air,
And be a joy for all to see.
In celebration of Earth Day,
Make It Green
Lives are crying because it's not clean,
Earth is dying because it's not green...
Earth is our dear Mother, don't pollute it,
She gives us food and shelter, just salute it...
Go and visit a local park.
Get back in touch with nature,
Its sites and sounds in light and
dark.
In celebration of Earth Day
Try to be more aware,
Of how your actions affect this
world
And devote yourself to its care.
With Global Warming, it's in danger,
Let's save it by becoming a strong ranger...
With dying trees and animals, it's in sorrow,
Make green today and green tomorrow...
With melting snow, one day it will sink,
How can we save it, just think...
Trees are precious, preserve them,
Water is a treasure, reserve it...
Grow more trees, make Mother Earth green,
Reduce pollution and make her a Queen..

IF I COULD FLY
[Verse 1: Harry & Liam]
If I could fly, I'd be coming right back home to you
I think I might give up everything, just ask me to
Pay attention, I hope that you listen cause I let my guard down
Right now I'm completely defenceless
[Chorus: Harry]
For your eyes only, I'll show you my heart
For when you're lonely and forget who you are
I'm missing half of me when we're apart
Now you know me, for your eyes only, for your eyes only
[Verse 2: Louis & Niall]
I've got scars even though they can't always be seen
And pain gets hard, but now you're here and I don't feel a thing
Pay attention, I hope that you listen cause I let my guard down
Right now I'm completely defenceless
[Chorus: All]
For your eyes only, I'll show you my heart
For when you're lonely and forget who you are
I'm missing half of me when we're apart
Now you know me, for your eyes only, for your eyes only
[Bridge: Louis & Harry]
I can feel your heart inside of mine, I feel it, I feel it
I've been going out of my mind, I feel it, I feel it
Know that I'm just wasting timeAnd I hope that you don't run from me
[Chorus: Liam & All & Harry]
For your eyes only, I'll show you my heart
For when you're lonely and forget who you are
I'm missing half of me when we're apart
Now you know me, for your eyes only
For your eyes only, I'll show you my heart
For when you're lonely and forget who you are
I'm missing half of me when we're apart
Now you know me, for your eyes only, for your eyes only
For your eyes only
