Cardinals Participate in Special Olympics
On May 15, Maud Cardinals attended the Alford’s Athletes/Carson’s Crossing Special Olympics.
Participants included: Jace Bramlett, Marktavin Conklelton, Jake Gipson, Reece Hinderer, Kalvin
Johnson, Lisa Shaw, and Sarah Worrell. Events included softball throw and 50 meter dash. Even
though rain drops cut the event short, they did not dampen the sunny smiles on the participants faces.
Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped to make this special day even more memorable!
Box Tops for Education
Thanks for a great school year! We earned
$1,130.20 this school year from the Box Tops for
Education program. You can still help our school
by collecting Box Tops this summer. For a list of
participating products, go to BTFE.com. Clip the
Box Tops, keep them in a safe place, and turn
them in next school year. Our first contest will
run during the months of August and September.
The individual
winners will
win cash

Class Poem
Graduation Friendship
By: Joanna Fuchs
We’re graduating, and we
know our lives will be different and new;
we’re going out into the
world, our goals and dreams
to pursue.
But one thing will never,
ever change, as we go our
separate ways;
the friends we’ve made in
school will be our friends for
all our days.
The special ties and attachments we’ve made, these
bonds will never be broken;
We’ll continue to feel that
special bond, though words
may not be spoken.
So it’s not “goodbye,” but
rather “farewell;” I’ll see
you again, my friend.
Your friendship means a lot
to me, and it will never end.

Under House Bill 5 (passed
by the 83rd Texas Legislature) all districts are required
to evaluate the district's performance in regard to community and student engagement. Districts must assign
one of four performance ratings—Exemplary, Recognized, Acceptable, or Unacceptable—to the district for
overall performance, including performance in the following categories: Fine Arts,
Wellness and PE, Community
and Parental Involvement,
21st Century Workforce Development, Second Language Acquisition, Digital
Learning Environment, Dropout Prevention, and Educational Program for Gifted
and Talented Students. Local
committees determined the
criteria that the district used
to evaluate the categories
and assigned performance
ratings. Under the Texas
Education Code, ensuring
school district compliance
with many of the statutory
requirements cited is a
shared responsibility between the superintendent
and the local school board.
If you would like to complete
the Community and Student
Engagement Ratings Survey,

website, or if you are viewing the online newsletter,
