The company DWT is a family owned company, located in the industrial heart of Germany. The
headquarter is situated in Bottrop, where production
and central stock is located. The company has been
set up in the year 1987 as main supplier of the german mining companies. Nowadays we deliver pneumatic products all over the world to different markets
and for many different applications. Nowadays we are

Ten years ago DWT has overtaken the production of pipe beveling machines
from the German steam boiler manufacturer „Deutsche Babcock“, who has

BOILER MANUFACTURING SEMINAR
Due to the increasing demand of manufacturing know-how in the energy sector the company DWT, Germany has announced the first time in 2008 a boiler
manufacturing seminar. The seminar was organized in cooperation with the

Field of application
The portable pipe chamfering and facing machines are used for pipe preparation of the
pipe edge in pipe welding applications. The portable machine is used for facing and
chamfering the pipe end. Especially for heavy wall pipe the pipe machining is fast and
accurate. Pipe chamfering and facing can be done in one operation with special tool holders. Operated by one man the pipe beveling machines can be used in the workshop and
on-site with low weight due to aluminium construction. High speed chamfering and facing
with special tool bits provides economical manufacturing of pipes, tubes and headers.
The machines can be also used for weld preparation in orbital welding.

for pipe bevel and pipe preparation. Especially nowadays supercritical boilers are a big challenge in production. For pipe welding and weld preparation of boiler tube panels the crown
milling cutter has been developed. The tool is equipped with tool tips to cut of the bars between
the tubes of the panel wall and in the same step to bevel the pipe end of boiler tube panel.

The external portable pipe bevelling machines are used for pipe bevel of the pipe end
in pipe welding applications. The portable machine is used for facing and bevelling the
pipe edge. Especially for heavy wall pipe the pipe machining is fast and accurate. Pipe
bevelling and facing can be done in one operation with special tool holders. Operated by
one man the pipe bevelling machines can be used in the workshop and on site with low
weight due to aluminum construction. High speed bevelling and facing with special tool
bits provides economical manufacturing of pipes, tubes and headers. The bevellers are
also used for boiler tube panel repair and removing membrane of the panel in supercritical boilers and high pressure boilers.

For use in production of high pressure boilers Babcock has developed special production
tools for pipe bevel and pipe preparation. Especially nowadays supercritical boilers are a
big challenge in production. For pipe welding and weld preparation of boiler tube panels
the crown milling cutter has been developed. The tool is equipped with tool tips to cut of
the bars between the tubes of the panel wall and in the same step to bevel the pipe end
of boiler tube panel.
It is mainly consisting of:
• 1 base holder for each pipe beveling machine
• 1 tool tip milling cutter for each diameter
• 2 tool tip holders 30° are for all diameters identical.
Tool tips and screws are identical as well for all
applications.

The following tools are necessary for beveling the boiler tube panel. For the correct pipe machining different bevel tools have to be combined to achieve the perfect result in weld preparation

The portable pipe cutting machine for steel pipe machining of pipes on-site is able to perform beveling and cutting of steel pipes as well as stainless steel and high alloyed steel
pipes. The machines are reduced in weight and dimensions. The accessories allow multiple operations, like beveling and cutting in one operation, inside beveling, flange repair of
flange facing. The clamshell pipe cutter is available from 3 - 57“. The pipe cutter can do all
kind of pipe weld preparation by use of different tools.

The machine is used for boiler tube panel cutting. Having a low weight the unit is of very
rugged design. Operated by one man only, it is well suited for use in the workshop and on
site. Due to its extremely compact type of construction it can be readily used in confined
space. Its high working speed and quick readiness alows economical manufacturing by
removing membrane and cutting pendant tube in one operation.

MFS-4, MFS-6 AND MFS-16
The basis of the MFS pipe chamfering machines is formed by the new MFS-4 with clamping
range from 1/2” to 4” (20 mm - 116 mm outside
diameter). The number in the title of the machine refers to the maximum clamping range in
inches for that particular machine. For example, the MFS-16 has a clamping range up to 16”
(410 mm).

Making weld preparations is a matter of
seconds
The performance determins the choice of a
machine. It is the fastest working machine for
machining heavy wall pipes made of duplex
steel, stainless steel or hasteloy, for example.
The minimal handling of materials required
and the very short machining time make the
MFS end preparation machines to some of the
fastest on the market.

Self-centering prism clamp
A self-centring prism-clamp holds the pipe firmly in place. The clamp
can be manually opened and closed rapidly using a large ratchet.
The MFS-24 and MFS-30 have an electric drive as standard for the
prism-clamp.
Large chip tray
The large chip tray has a separator to filter the chips out of the
coolant. All MFS machines have a built-in pump for cooling fluid.
Powerful electric motors for pipe chamfering
The more than adequate electric motors of the MFS-4 and MFS-6
have two speeds and can be operated very simply. As well as the
two speed motor, MFS-16 also has a gearbox allowing simple switching to a total of four speeds.

ROLLER BENCHES TYPE RBT
The RBT roller benches have been especially
designed for use in combination with the MFS
pipe end preparation machines. The trough system with steel rollers makes it possible to roll the
pipe easily by hand into the machine.
Just as the MFS pipe chamfering machines the
RBT roller benches are extra strong and robust
and exceptionally suitable for heavy work.
Unusual sizes or modified models, for example
with stainless steel rollers or completely
turneable through 180°, are available on request.
All MFS pipe chamfering machines are provided
with an extra 400 volt socket in which the roller
bench cable can be connected, so that there is
always a powered socket available for the RBT.

Why to line-up pipes for welding?
The welding quality in pipeline construction is crucial and has to fullfil worldwide standards, certified by international authorities. Companies like Norske Veritas have set up guidelines, to avoid defects and therefore environment and health risks, by use of the best pipeline equipment.
Very important is the choice of the correct internal line-up pipe clamp for weld preparation, to
compensate tolerances of pipe manufacturers and to avoid edge misalignment during welding
process. Internal line-up clamps are the most frequently used alignment equipment nowadays,
because it provides a full access to the weld seam during the entire welding process.
