Gelbvieh Breeders...
What an incredible genetic opportunity.
The KGA Pick of the Herd Female Sale has
traditionally produced more breed-leading females than
any other sale in the nation, and this year is no exception.
It has been a pleasure to work with the breeders to offer a
fantastic set of breed changing females.
If you are looking to build a premier cowherd of
deep-ribbed, easy fleshing females, this is the one sale
you need to attend. No sale in the country has produced
the proven return on your investment like this sale. As
we move forward in this cattle cycle, the quality of your
genetics is going to be more important now than ever.
We are seeing history in the making. Cattle prices and
the demand for beef has never been better. The females
that you add to your cowherd now, will be by far more
profitable over their lifetime, than any other females you
have owned. With this in mind, make sure you are adding
the right kind of females to capitalize on this tremedous
market.
If you have any questions about the offering, or
would like assistance in selecting cattle that will fit your
program, please give me a call. I will be going through
these females again on Friday, November 28, so don’t
hesitate to give me a call anytime at 913-547-1635. I will
do my best to assist you. I look forward to the opportunity
to work with you in purchasing a heifer to fit your program.
Bid Live on DVAuction.com.
Please

daughter offered to the public. He is a two time Res. Nat’l Campion yet he is transmitting more depth and rib
than any sire ever at Overmiller’s. He also is passing on outstanding carcass EPD’s to his progeny. Bling Bling
is in the top 1/3 of the breed for REA, MB, and FPI. This is the highest performing heifer at Overmiller’s this
year as well as being the pick of every visitor to the pastures this summer. Maternally, she is backed by a CTR
Sandman daughter and we all know the genetic worth of the Sandmans. Her first time shown she was selected
Res. Supreme female out of 12 breeds. Bling Bling has the look and class to play in the futurity, but her real value
will be in the pasture due to her performance, muscle, ribshape, and her brood cow look.

country including Solution Genetics were they avg. $11,600. Overmiller’s 3 high sellers in their online Red Angus sale were
sired by him also. Multiple St. Fairs have been won by daughters as well. When you cross this sire that puts a level square
hip and tons of ribshape with a Nitro 3161N daughter that’s long and performance oriented you get a super big middled wide

• BAR M RANCH, PHILLIPSBURG, KS
• Maxine is a moderated framed, big bodied, easy fleshing female that is very maternal in her look.
This March born heifer will make a great show heifer and go out to pasture and make a super cow
after her show career. Maxines’ pedigree combines two outstanding breeding programs –Diamond
V Gelbvieh and Bar Arrow Cattle Company. Her granddam ROC 184P Avril, was purchased from
Diamond V Gelbvieh in the 2004 pick of the herds sale. Prime example of how these Pick of the
Herds females, not only make excellent show heifers, but also work in the real world. Maxine has a
baby doll disposition and would be great for a beginner.

• OVERMILLER GELBVIEH, SMITH CENTER, KS
• Here is the first opportunity to buy a Zipline daughter on the open market. Zipline needs no
introduction as he capped off his Triple Crown win being named 2014 National Champion Purebred
in Denver where he was the talk of the barn. He is a one of a kind bull and we feel this heifer could
be the same. She is a deep sided female who has more flank than most heifers she will show against
in the purebred lineup. Even with the added body she has an elegant front end which will make her
tough to beat on the profile. Her first calf momma is a Tuned In out of the 44 cow line which has
produced more dollars at Overmillers than any other. Zipline semen is just being released for sale,
purchase this female to get these genetics a year ahead of everyone else.

• DIAMOND V GELBVIEH, STOCKTON, KS
• Black, Homo-polled Balancer heifer. Diamond 647B is just that. She is a full sister to my herdsire
ROC Anvil 462Y. He is doing a remarkable job here at Diamond V and here is your opportunity once
again to buy his little sister. In 2012, I offered another full sister and she was co-high seller that year
going to the Howard Moore family in Oklahoma. Consistent, reliable genetics that are sound, deep
and long with a ton of mass, yet a feminine look and a disposition you could only hope for. Tough to
see go, but my best is here. Will be entered in Denver for 2015.

• Brooklyn is a female that we love for her rib shape, stoutness, and overall design. This girl has
been a standout in our herd from the get go. She was named the champion balancer heifer calf at the
Kansas State Fair, and we feel that she will make a tremendous cow once her showing days are over.
This is one of the first females I have seen selling out of the 2013 Reserve Grand Champion Gelbvieh
Bull RID R Shotgun Slade, and this mating sure did not disappoint. Her mom is one of the most
attractive cows in our herd and has produced some great females. There is no doubt Brooklyn can be
the best one of them all! Check out the EPD strength on this girl as well.

• Bailey, or Bay Bay as we like to call her, excels when set in motion. This girl has a long agile stride,
which easily fills her track, and she has cushion to her pasterns. Combine this with her balanced look,
and you have a very competitive Gelbvieh female. She is just so complete in her design which makes
it hard to poke any holes in her. Also, this girl has a super disposition and should be a dream for a
junior member to show. We have had great success with the calves sired by our herd bull GRU Impact
850X and the replacements that we have kept out of him are making awesome cows. I am sure Bay
Bay will have many friends in Salina, and she is eligible to show in the Gelbvieh futurity.

• Double Edge is a very feminine appearing female who is very striking from the side, and sure to
catch a lot of attention come saleday and beyond. She is double bred Cutting Edge. I purchased
TBST MS CUTTING EDGE 210M at the 2002 pick of the herds sale. She had an awesome show
career and went on to win the Kansas State Fair Gelbvieh Show and was the futurity winner that year.
210M has had three females sold in the pick of the herds sale. A real opportunity here! This heifer
is extremely gentle!

• Here is a female that will grab your attention! Millie has that striking show look from the side
profile. However, what we think is so unique about this female is her muscle expression down her
top, and how she comes wide to her pin set. Once this April heifer calf continues to fill out, there is
no doubt that she will be tough to beat. Millie is also a full sister to ELC Miss Laramie which was
shown successfully by Grady Hammer this past summer. Laramie won her division at the AGJA show
in South Dakota and her class at Denver this past January. We also retained another full sister to these
two the year prior, so you can tell we really like this mating. Plus, on the performance side, she has
tremendous birth to weaning weight spread.

2014-2015 “Pick of the Herds”
Gelbvieh/Balancer Futurity Heifer Program
This program has been implemented to encourage the Jr. Members in promoting
Gelbvieh at various shows as well as to offer the Jr. Members a chance to receive
a payback for their efforts. This year the total payout is estimated at $ 2,000 to be
paid in the manner listed below.
To be eligible:
a.
All Open and bred heifers selling in the 2014 Kansas/Nebraska “Pick
of the Herds” Female sale are futurity eligible for the 2015 futurity jackpot. This
ruling on bred heifers selling will allow Jr. Members to show them as a cow/calf
pair with a bull or heifer calf at side. Regarding ¾ blood females, if shown as a
Balancer female in the spring show class, this female will show as Balancer in
the Futurity Class. Status needs to be determined at time of entry to the Kansas/
Nebraska Joint Spring Show. In order to be eligible to show all fees must be paid
in full prior to the spring show.
b.
The female must be titled in the Jr. Member’s name only and the Jr.
Member must be a member of either the Kansas Jr. Gelbvieh Association or
the Jr. GAIN Association. Memberships can be purchased at the time the spring
show entries are due. In following the AGJA rules, a Jr. Member needs to be
8 years old to show. If Jr. Member is unable to show, futurity animals must be
shown by an immediate family member in the futurity classes to be eligible for
the futurity money, and this immediate family member must be a Jr. Member.
c.
Futurity program year runs from the 2014 Kansas “Pick of the Herds”
Female Sale until the 2015 Kansas Jr. Spring Show Futurity show. Females sold
in this sale will only have one program year of eligibility. A new group of females
will be sold at the next designated futurity sale for the next program year.
d.
All rules will be strictly enforced. Any questions or discrepancies that
arise will be settled by the KGA Board.
Payout Breakdown:
a.
Showing at the Kansas/Nebraska Jr. Association Spring Show (Futurity
Show): Payout estimated at $2,000 in cash awarded. (Award money will be split
50% Gelbvieh females and 50% Balancer females) Females will show according
to what is designated on the entry form. Regarding ¾ blood females, if the female
is shown in the Balancer futurity class, she will only be eligible for the money
designated for the Balancers. Two Futurity Classes (Gelbvieh and Balancers)
will be shown and the payout will be the following for both classes.
i.
Gelbvieh Futurity Class
1st Place Gelbvieh heifer will be awarded 50% of the Gelbvieh Futurity money.
2nd Place Gelbvieh heifer will be awarded 35% of the Gelbvieh Futurity money.
3rd Place Gelbvieh heifer will be awarded 15% of the Gelbvieh Futurity money.
ii.
Balancer Futurity Class
1st Place Balancer heifer will be awarded 50% of the Balancer Futurity money.
2nd Place Balancer heifer will be awarded 35% of the Balancer Futurity money.
3rd Place Balancer heifer will be awarded 15% of the Balancer Futurity money.
iii.
All Futurity heifers are required to show in the Jr. Show.
