Peter Morath was born in Wirral, Cheshire in 1937. He studied at Liverpool College
of Art and was a lithographic artist for many years. He exhibited work in Britain before
coming to live in New Zealand in 1971. Since then he has held several exhibitions and his
paintings and pastel drawings have sold extensively in New Zealand and overseas.
He finds the magnificent scenery of New Zealand a constant inspiration. Peter
lives in the South Island overlooking Lyttleton Harbour and the mountains of
Banks Peninsular. His other interests include reading, classical music, steam
locomotives and aviation. He also held a private pilot’s licence for some years.

Kevin Walsh was born in Castleford, in the heart
of the industrial West Riding of Yorkshire, the
same town which produced the world-famous
sculptor Henry Moore.
After studying illustration at the Wakefield College
of Art, Kevin developed an early reputation, initially
for his aircraft paintings.
In recent years, he has become increasingly
known for a much wider variety of subject matter.
Landscapes, city life and transport in bygone
Train Spotting with Grandad
days all figure prominently among his works.
He travels many miles for research and spends
countless hours sketching, before committing the
final composition to canvas. Accurate technical
and historical detail, combined with an ability to
capture the warmth and atmosphere of times
gone by are the hallmarks of this remarkably
accomplished artist.
Kevin’s original oil paintings are represented in
many important collections worldwide.

Born in Altai, one of Russia’s most remote and off-thebeaten-track towns, Viktor Shvaiko grew up surrounded by
the beauty of the wilderness. His natural inclination for fine
arts and his strong urge to share his vision of nature drove
him to find a way into the Novoaltaisk Artistic School, one
of the two best schools for the arts in the former Soviet
Union. Four years of strenuous studies enabled Viktor, a
very diligent student, to acquire the skills of a true artist.
Viktor credits his teacher, Ilbek Khairoullinov, for a true fine
arts education. A strict regimen of drawing, an intricate
technique of using colors, and the influence of the 19th
century Russian artist Karl Brynllow brought Viktor Shvaiko
il Cibreo
close to a traditional academic style of painting. After
having attained technical excellence in the manner of these
traditional influences, the artist now possessed the tools
with which to express his feelings to the world. At this point,
Viktor’s main focus became the beautiful Altai landscapes.
Arriving in New York with little money and less English,
Viktor was able to survive by selling his work. It was here
he developed his penchant for painting the little cafes and
other intimate places that we see in his work today, and that
have become his trademark. His enticing mix of beauty and
mystery has drawn the interest and admiration of collectors
from around the world.

Steve A Roberts was born in Palmetto,
Central Florida, a stone’s throw from the
Gulf of Mexico.
From when he first began drawing at an
early age, Steve always expressed his
creative side; drawing and painting on
everything, trying to reproduce what he had
locked up in his imagination. As he matured,
Steve continued to study and began selling
his artwork in local galleries and at shows
around Florida.
Seeking adventure and inspiration Steve travelled to Alaska, a place that
had always stirred his imagination where he spent twelve years, living in
Wasilla, a beautiful place outside of Anchorage. This place with its beauty
and harmony inspired Steve’s passion for painting even more. It was a
great place for painting, reflecting on life and the wonders of the magical
Alaskan wild lands.
Steve is quoted as saying: “I have always been a dreamer of dragons
and magical places, as well as miracles and Angels. I think most boys
and girls start out that way, but as life goes on, we begin to forget
how magical the world is and doubt the things we knew were true
then. I guess I am just one of those who are trying not to forget
what it was.”
