elcome to the American Cancer Society’s 3rd Annual Berrien County
Relay For Life Auction. Tonight we hope all of our guests and volunteers are ready
to Outlaw Cancer, and enjoy a memorable evening in the fight against cancer.
We would like to take this opportunity to highlight some key accomplishments of the
Relay For Life for 2006:

There were more than 4,600 community Relay For Life events last year.
Michigan and Indiana alone hosted 296 events, raising more than $21.6 million.
Relay For Life is now being held in more than 23 different countries.
Next to the United States Government the American Cancer Society is the largest
financial contributor of cancer research.
• Relay For Life events raise more than 1 million dollars per day.
• More than 21,000 cancer survivors in Indiana and Michigan were honored for
winning the fight against cancer.
We feel so fortunate to be a part of a community with so many businesses, organizations,
and individuals who have gladly donated items, money and services to make this evening
a success. In the coming year, we hope that you will patronize the businesses listed in the
pages of this book and let them know how much their participation is appreciated.
Last years Auction was a huge success raising over $36,000 and our goal is to raise over
$40,000 this year. On behalf of the American Cancer Society and the entire committee,

the women in their lives to spread the lifesaving
message of receiving regular mammograms.
I Can Cope
I Can Cope is a free educational program
providing information about cancer diagnosis
and treatment to help participants cope with
physical and emotional challenges.
Cancer Advocacy
The American Cancer Society works to make
cancer a top priority for lawmakers at the
federal, state, and local levels. Smoke-free
communities, insurance coverage, protecting
cancer survivors from discrimination, and
access to health care are some of our most
important concerns.
Man to Man
Man to Man provides information and support
for men affected by prostate cancer.
Cancer Survivors Network
Cancer Survivors Network was created by and
for cancer survivors and their families, this
“virtual” community offers unique opportunities
and accessibility to survivors, caregivers,
and all those touched by cancer. It is a
welcoming, safe place for people to find hope
and inspiration from others who have “been
there”. Services include radio talk show
conversations and interviews, individual
stories, personal Web pages, discussion forums,
an Expression Gallery, and more - available

Oral Auction Rules
Auction Rules
Silent Auction Rules
1. The auction will begin at 9:15PM May 19th, 2007, and
continue without interruption until all items have been
auctioned. Doors will open at 5:30PM in order to give you
an opportunity to view the various items prior to bidding.
1. All items in the Silent Auction have bid sheets affixed
nearby. Persons desiring to bid must do so by printing their
bid number and the bid amount on the bid sheet. Minimum
beginning bids are listed.
2. A signature or oral bid constitute a legal contract to buy.
All sales are final and there will be no exchanges or refunds
on items except where specified.
2. Each increase in bid must equal or exceed the minimum
stated on the bid sheet in order to constitute a valid bid.
3. During the Oral Auction, bidders must hold up their bid
numbers to signify their bid. The Auctioneer will determine
the highest bid.
4. The Auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw from the
auction any item for which bidding has not received
satisfactory level. If any items have been designated as
selling with a reserve, the auction chairperson and/or
co-chair person shall have a right to bid on behalf of the
auction committee.
5. Values set for items being auctioned are donors’ estimates
and are not guaranteed by the Relay For Life Auction for
tax purposes or for general value.
6. All auction items must be removed by purchaser at their
own expense either the night of the auction or from
Competitive Edge, 5924 Red Arrow Highway, Stevensville
between 1:00-3:00 PM Sunday, May 20th, 2007, except
where noted.
3. Each new bid must be written on the next blank line
available on the bid sheet.
4. The Silent Auction booths will be open for bidding at
5:30PM, Saturday, May 19th, 2007 and will close at
various intervals throughout the evening. Closing times
are posted in the program and will be announced during
the evening. The closing bid circled by the Relay For Life
Auction Committee constitutes the winning bid.
5. In the event of a dispute, the Relay For Life Auction
Co-Chairs shall request a closed bid between bidders.
The highest bidder wins.
6. Rules No. 2, 5, 6, and 7 of the Oral Auction Rules
shall apply.
7. Items should be removed that evening by exhibiting a receipt
at the Silent Auction display booth before departure unless
item is too large to be removed that night.
7. Relay For Life (American Cancer Society) makes no express
or implied warranties on auction items other than those
from the manufacturer which may be with your purchase.

Refund Policy:
All items are “as is” and may not be returned for exchange or
refunds, unless stated in the description of the item. To attempt
to return items, or exchange them for their retail value, only
hurts the efforts of the Relay For Life (American Cancer
Society) in procurement attempts for the next year.
Check Out Procedure:
Simply go to the cashier area for a printout of items purchased
and then proceed to each booth to obtain your items.
Please Note: Under IRS Guidelines, we are obligated to
inform you that the amount paid that exceeds the stated donor
value is considered to be a charitable contribution
(note number 5 under oral auction rules).
