as a spin-off to ABB, since
2003 we have been established as an independent company. Our progress has been
remarkable – with a growth from initially four
persons to today’s 70 employees in Sweden,
Germany and China.

Our staff is our most important asset; our
company atmosphere is characterised by
straightforwardness. The working environment is important and our workshop in
Västerås has recently been renovated. We are
many individuals with long-term robot experience, amounting to several hundreds of
years of knowhow.

At RSP, our focus has always been on R&D, an
area where we have continuously been at the
leading edge. Yearly, we launch new and improved products and will continue to do so in
the future.
Concerning production equipment, the
critical factor is quality. At RSP we put emphasis on both the testing of new products
and on inspection and testing before delivery.
In order to achieve a well-documented
lifespan prediction, all our products go
through long-term trial periods ahead of
launch.

Rytterne Mekan is a machine-part manufacturer, with a quality staff and CNC turning
and milling equipment. This acquisition is
allowing RSP to maintain quality control and
manage lead-times throughout the production process.
The Rytterne Mekan addition has strengthened our already strong in-house capabilities,
high standard of dependability and on time
delivery. We now have control over the raw
material, semi-finished goods and goods in
stock. Our latest measuring device enables
us to verify the precision of all product components.

SWIVEL INCREASES ROBOT FLEXIBILITY
In some cases, it is possible to add
more flexibility to the robots and
thereby extend their application
possibilities. Using a swivel from
Robot System Products, the injection
moulding company Denk Kunststoff
Technik, extended the axis 6
working range of their robots.
In the production of injection moulded parts for
the automotive industry, very high equipment
efficiencies are required. High automation
levels in the production environments are typical
and the use of robots is standard. Denk
Kunststoff Technik, working with RSP, found a
smart solution to improve equipment utilisation
of the existing production cells by adding more
flexibility, expanding the types of applications
that can be accomplished and by reducing
downtime. These improvements were accomplished by using RSP Swivels.
EXTENDS THE WORKING RANGE
The swivels developed by RSP extend the working range of the robots sixth axis, increasing
the flexibility and reducing cycle time of the
robots. Additionally, the swivels eliminate loose
hanging hoses and cables, while significantly
reducing the maintenance efforts required for
the robots.
The new, comparatively light swivel weighing only 4.1 kg is
compact and easy to integrate.

During the rapid handling processes, the
reliability of the automation technology plays
an important role. According to Denk Kunst­
stoff Technik staff, the swivel technology has
proven to be robust and effective. Since the
installation of the RSP swivels over 24 months
ago, there hasn’t been a single failure despite
handling up to 110,000 parts per day in a
three-shift operation.
INJECTION MOLDING AROUND METAL PARTS
The injection moulding cell consists of an Arburg
machine, a 6-axes Yaskawa robot and a feeder
and separator from Püschel. The robot takes
the presented metal inserts out of the Püschel
cell and moves the gripper to the injection
mould. Here, it takes the injection-surrounded
parts from the following cycle out and positions
the inserts in the mould. Then the robot drops
the finished parts into plastic boxes. Due to
the different working cycles, a freely rotatable
sixth axis is required. In this case, the S20-2E
swivel offers the ideal solution.

5. MARKET OUTLOOK: The Market outlook in the
United States shows continuing signs of growth in
the automation sectors in the short, mid and visible
future. Part of the growth in the US market is from
a “re-shoring” effort. The re-shoring focus is to
bring many of the manufacturing jobs back to the
US that were once lost to lower-cost labour countries. The re-shoring
