History: Dauntless is design #458 in the John Alden Design Book She was launched at the Dauntless Shipyard in Essex,
Connecticut on the 16th of June, 1930. In that same year, she participated in the Newport to Bermuda Race alongside the
schooners; Rose of Sharon, Curlew and Teragram - all of which she still sails against, with the exception of Teragram.
Dauntless has been featured on several covers of Sailing magazine, and publications include Wooden Boat magazine,
Nautical Quarterly, the Santana, and numerous articles in Latitude 38. Dauntless' competitive record includes two races
from San Diego to Hawaii. Since 2002, she has participated biannually in the Master Mariners Regatta contested on San
Francisco Bay, where she holds numerous "Deadeye - Fastest Around the Course" titles. On her latest transit from San
Francisco to San Diego she logged two 24-hour periods of 213 and 190 miles. The present owner has owned and
meticulously maintained the Schooner Dauntless for over thirty years. Within the last five years, Dauntless has received a
new engine and refrigeration system and has been completely rewired. She is truly a beautiful classic yacht.
