A LETTER FROM YOUR PASTOR -
My Beloved Young Adults (W.O.W.):
Let me express my appreciation to each of you for the wonderful
spirit which has prevailed throughout the planning and
implementation of plans for your Young Adult Conference.
Willingness and vision in planning, unity of purpose, cooperative
endeavor, and the sustained drive to completion have been
thrilling to witness.
Your generosity of means, time and effort has been inspiring, and
in many cases, sacrificial.
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every
prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your
fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now.” (Philippians
1:3-5)
May the Lord bless each of you as you continue to grow and
develop in “The Disciplines of Discipleship.”
In His Service,

To God Be ALL The Glory for What He Has Done!
Congratulations Fairview Missionary Baptist Church Young Adult
Ministry on another INCREDIBLE year! Over the Top!!! What a Ministry!
You ALL are amazing and I am so honored and privileged to have the
opportunity to serve and work along with the W.O.W. (Workers of the
Word)!
Thanks to Pastor Reed for his vision in starting a young adult
ministry in January 2009 and thank you for allowing me to serve as Ministry
Director. You were so right, Pastor, in your encouraging words, ‘Be Patient,
it will be a challenge and growth will not happen overnight’!
As we had our first planning meeting and young adults shared from their hearts as to what
they expected and wanted from a Young Adult Ministry: to have more of a voice in the church, be
active, united, fill in the mixing link, bridge the gap and help with the transition from youth to
adulthood. It started with a few faithful young adults who made the decision that, though small in
number, they would be faithful to God first and then faithful to the Young Adult Ministry and it’s
purpose. As a result of their faithfulness God has blessed the ministry to grow by leaps and bounds
in just four short years. I still remember the list of over 20 plus things the young adult ministry
wanted to accomplish. We didn’t get it all done the first year or second or third, but each year as God
moves, our prayerful goals for the ministry as part of the church whole are being realized. From the
Midnight Musicals, to Poetry Night, to Adult All-Nighters, to the Sunday Morning Inspirational
Moments, to representing in just about every ministry in the church, W.O.W., the young adults at
Fairview are bridging the gap for generations to make Fairview’s future even brighter. Eye hath not
seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared
for them that love Him.” (1 Cor.2:9). The Best is Yet to Come!!! It’s Just Getting Started!!!
Thank you for faithfully attending Wednesday Nights for Young Adult Bible Study and
Fellowship as we continue to delve into God’s Word for a deeper understanding. Openly discussing,
learning, sharing and growing together.
A special thanks to Mrs. Denise Patterson, who is doing an unbelievable job serving as Chair
Person for the Ministry and who stepped out on faith to bring this type of conference to Fairview and
lead the effort in organizing to make it happen. You go above and beyond, lady, and
congratulations!! Thanks to the other Young Adult Officers who serve and work so faithfully all year
round: Ahmad Kennedy – Co-Chair Person; Sara Kennedy – Secretary, LaNita Harris – Asst.
Secretary and Eboni Johnson – Treasurer.
With encouragement, support, much prayer, direction and guidance, there is only one thing
left to do and that is ‘Get out of their Way and Let them Go’! So, to each of the young adults of the
FBC Young Adult Ministry, I love you and you will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Keep
on going, continue to be innovative and creative, trying new and exciting methods to reach your
generation and beyond with the gospel of Jesus Christ, but most of all, continue to develop and grow
YOUR personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
To God be ALL the Glory for what He has done, is doing and will continue to do through
the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church Young Adult (W.O.W) Ministry.

Greetings,
First I want to thank and acknowledge my Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ, for giving me this vision.
I recall back in 2008 when we started this ministry,
Workers of the Word (W.O.W), God implanted in my
heart to bring a young adult conference to Fairview.
Ever since then, God has been preparing us for this
very moment.
The Denial Experience is inspired by Matthew 16:24-26: 24“Then Jesus said to
his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up
their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but
whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to
gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange
for their soul?” The purpose of the conference is to give young adults the
learning tools to better prepare us as Disciples of Christ.
Thank you to my W.O.W. Family for your support and hard work. We did
it! Special thanks to Pastor Reed for being an advisor, counselor, guide and
mentor. Thank you for championing this cause from the beginning. We
Love You, Pops! Last but not least, to the greatest church in the world,
Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, thank you for always supporting us in
everything we do.
We continually pray for the growth of this ministry, not only in numbers
but also spiritually.
To God be the glory!
Denise Patterson
