PARISH INFORMATION
BAPTISM: The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at 1:30 PM on the Second Sunday of the month in Spanish and the
Third Sunday of the month in English. Parents need to contact the rectory to set up an appointment to make arrangements
for the baptism of their child and register for the baptismal class which is held the First Tuesday of each month in Spanish
and the Second Tuesday of each month in English. Baptisms in Vietnamese can be arranged by contacting Fr. Vincent.
EL BAUTISMO: El sacramento del Bautismo es celebrado a la 1:30 PM cada Segundo domingo del mes en español y
cada tercer domingo del mes en Inglés. Los padres del niño/a deben pedir una cita con la rectoría para ponerse de acuerdo
con requisitos para el bautismo y también inscribirse para la charla pre bautismal que se lleva acabo cada primer martes
del mes en español y cada segundo martes del mes en ingles. Los bautismos en vietnamita pueden ser arreglados con el
Padre Vicente.

A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Friends,
Holy Thursday arrived a few weeks early for the Higgins’
family. You see, last Sunday my brothers, sister, and I
traveled to Lancaster to visit our brother Mike and his
wife, Lorie. As you know Mike was diagnosed with
terminal colon cancer 18 months ago. He has fought the
good fight, battling this deadly disease with surgery,
chemotherapy, and lots of prayer. However, two weeks
ago his doctors sent him home to be on hospice. The
chemo has stopped working and made him more
miserable. Modern medicine had done all it could. Now
my brother’s life was totally in the hands of God.
We celebrated Mass at my brother’s house. Probably
the last Mass we will be able to celebrate with Mike
before he returns to God. Yes, it was our “Last Supper”
together. I reminded my family of what Jesus told his
disciples at his last meal with them. Jesus told them:
“This is my commandment: ‘Love one another as I have
loved you.’” And for the next hour we shared with Mike
our love for him. With tears in our eyes and lumps in our
throats we told Mike how much he meant to us. And he
told us the same. As difficult as this moment was, it was
a moment filled with God’s presence and love. It will not
be forgotten by any of us.
And now like every family in this anxious and grieffilled time, we wait. We wait for God to call Mike to
Himself. We wait for Jesus to call out, as he did to
Lazarus, “Mike, come out!” And my brother will leave
this world of suffering and death, and pass into the next
world of joy and new life. And then our Lord will say to
the angels in heaven and to my parents: “Untie him and
let him go.” And Mike will be freed from this dreaded
disease. No more therapy. No more colostomy. No more
drugs. No more suffering. He will be freed from it all.
Yes, freed at last.
As we prepare for Mike’s final journey, our Lord is
asking us the same questions he asked Lazarus’ sister,
Martha: “Do you believe that I am the resurrection and
the life? And that whoever believes in me, even if he dies,
will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will
never die? Martha said: “Yes, Lord. I have come to
believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, the one
who is coming into the world.” Martha got it right, didn’t
she? She got it right.
And now I pray that we get it right too. As I often say
at funeral Masses, I don’t know how people without the
gift of faith wake up the next day, without their loved one,
and go on with their lives. With this gift it is difficult
enough to survive the death of a loved one and live a
happy and productive life. Without this gift, does the
emptiness, the sadness, the anger, the loss, ever really
disappear? Is a person without faith ever really made
whole again? Honestly, I don’t know. I can only hope
wholeness would return, but I’m not sure how without a
belief in life after death.
I am very grateful for your prayers and concern for Mike,
his wife, and my family. Please continue to pray as my
brother prepares to respond to Jesus’ final call and each of
us is continually challenged to imitate St. Martha, saying:
“Yes Lord, I do believe.”

Ya no vuelvas a pecar

Bautismo de los Niños
Si quiere bautizar a un niño, hay
que llamar a la rectoría al 215743-2600 para hacer una cita
con un sacerdote para arreglar
los detalles del bautismo. No se
puede ir a la clase pre-bautismal
sin haberse reunido con el sacerdote primero.
También, para bautizar en los Santos Inocentes hay
que estar registrado aquí. Se puede hacer una cita
para registrarse, o se puede registrar cuando
venga para hablar del bautismo.
Finalmente, cuando está escogiendo a sus padrinos,
tenga en cuenta que la responsabilidad principal
de un padrino es dar buen ejemplo al ahijado de lo
que es vivir bien la fe católica. Por eso, para ser
padrino, hay que haber recibido todos los
sacramentos (bautismo, confirmación, comunión),
estar registrado y participando en la iglesia (en
esta parroquia u otra), y si es casado, ser casado
por la Iglesia.

Clases de la apologética: defensa de la fe católica
Esta Cuaresma nuestra parroquia ofrecerá
clases de cómo defender la fe católica y
profundizar en conocimiento de la fe. Las clases
se darán en el salón parroquial (el gimnasio)
los miércoles de la Cuaresma (16 de marzo, y 23
de marzo) de las 7:00 a las 8:30pm. Los temas
incluirán los sacramentos, la Biblia, la Virgen
María, la Iglesia, y más. Los presentadores serán
el Padre Tomás Viviano, el Diácono Andrés

palabras que hieren y destruyen el orgullo, el
honor, o la personalidad de los demás.
Jesús nos invita a considerar nuestra propia
pecaminosidad antes de "tirar piedras". Él
nos pide que veamos nuestro proceder antes
de tirar piedras, incluso en nuestro
ministerio. La crítica, el desdén y la falsedad
son cosas que lastiman y nos impiden
comunicarnos bien. En lugar de exigir
perfección, recibamos al Señor. Así como
nosotros perdonamos, seremos perdonados
por el Señor, pues su misericordia es
abundante.

BÀI ĐỌC I: Is 43, 16-21
"Đây Ta sẽ làm lại những cái mới và sẽ cho dân Ta
nước uống".
Trích sách Tiên tri Isaia.
Chúa là Đấng mở đường dưới biển, mở lối đi dưới dòng
nước; Chúa là Đấng dẫn dắt xe, ngựa, quân binh và dũng sĩ.
Tất cả đều ngủ và không chỗi dậy nữa; chúng bị ngộp thở
và tắt đi như tim đèn. Người phán: "Các ngươi đừng nhớ
đến dĩ vãng, và đừng để ý đến việc thời xưa nữa. Đây Ta sẽ
làm những cái mới và giờ đây chúng sẽ xuất hiện, như các
ngươi sẽ biết; Ta sẽ mở đường trong hoang địa, và khai
sông nơi đất khô khan. Thú đồng, muông rừng và chim đà
sẽ ca tụng Ta, vì Ta đã làm cho hoang địa có nước và đất
khô khan có sông, để dân yêu quý của Ta có nước uống; Ta
đã tác tạo dân này cho Ta, nó sẽ ca ngợi Ta". Đó là lời
Chúa.

Đáp: Chúa đã đối xử đại lượng với chúng tôi, nên
chúng tôi mừng rỡ hân hoan (c. 3).
1) Khi Chúa đem những người Sion bị bắt trở về, chúng tôi
dường như người đang mơ, bấy giờ miệng chúng tôi vui
cười, lưỡi chúng tôi thốt lên những tiếng hân hoan.
2) Bấy giờ dân thiên hạ nói với nhau rằng: Chúa đã
đối xử với họ cách đại lượng. Chúa đã đối xử đại
lượng với chúng tôi, nên chúng tôi mừng rỡ hân
hoan.
3) Lạy Chúa, xin hãy đổi số phận chúng con, như
những dòng suối ở miền nam. Ai gieo trong lệ sầu, sẽ
gặt trong hân hoan.
4) Thiên hạ vừa đi vừa khóc, tay mang thóc đi gieo.
Họ trở về trong hân hoan, vai mang những bó lúa.

BÀI ĐỌC II: Pl 3, 8-14
"Vì Đức Kitô, tôi đành chịu thua thiệt trong mọi
sự, và tôi trở nên giống Người trong sự chết".

Philipphê.
Anh em thân mến, tôi coi tất cả mọi sự như thua thiệt
trước cái lợi tuyệt vời là được biết Đức Giêsu Kitô,
Chúa tôi. Vì Người, tôi đành chịu thua thiệt, và coi mọi
sự như phân bớn, để lợi được Đức Kitô, và được ở
trong Người, không phải do sự công chính của tôi dựa
vào lề luật, nhưng do sự công chính bởi tin Đức Giêsu
Kitô: sự công chính bởi Thiên Chúa là sự công chính
bởi đức tin để nhận biết Người và quyền lực phục sinh
của Người, để thông phần vào sự đau khổ của Người
và trở nên giống Người trong sự chết, với hy vọng từ
cõi chết được sống lại.
Không phải là tôi đã đạt đến cùng đích, hoặc đã trở
nên hoàn hảo, nhưng tôi đang đuổi theo để chiếm lấy,
bởi vì chính tôi cũng đã được Đức Giêsu Kitô chiếm
lấy. Anh em thân mến, chính tôi chưa tin rằng tôi đã
chiếm được, nhưng tôi đinh ninh một điều là quên hẳn
đàng sau, mà hướng về phía trước, tôi cứ nhắm đích
đuổi theo để đoạt giải ơn kêu gọi Thiên Chúa đã ban
từ trời cao trong Đức Giêsu Kitô. Đó là lời Chúa.

sẽ được ánh sáng ban sự sống".
