17 Not Required Indians
17 Indians were sentenced to death for murdering one man.
They would have ended up as statistics, but for few family
members sought support of local media and Human Rights
Lawyers, pressuring both governments into a fair trial.
Sharing spaces with the families struggling to get justice
reveals the tragic state of Indian Migrants overseas.
Following two brothers of the accused in UAE, collecting
proof for innocence leads us into an unseen world of
migrant abuse starting from Punjab into Sharjah. Through
the trial process, Embassy’s defense team and Human Right
lawyers reveal how Indian politics and corruption can mire a
fair trial, in a distant land, without concern Indian migrants
workers overseas.

Set in the South India, Driving With Selvi
tells the story of a young woman who,
against all odds, defies strict patriarchal
traditions when she escapes the abusive
marriage she was forced into as a child to
become Karnataka’s first female taxi driver.
Driving With Selvi
Alfred Arambhan, head of the Arambhan group,
astounded everyone at Good Pitch2 India by donating a
truck to Selvi. The truck, which was parked in the car
park, would help her efforts to become a transport
entrepreneur.
As the image of the vehicle was flashed up on the
screen, the room erupted, and Selvi was reduced to
tears. The roars of support were deafening as she took
the keys, climbed in the cab and started the engine.

about Good Pitch India
Being part of Good Pitch2 India was an
important step both in understanding the
landscape of the Indian documentary
film industry, and connecting with the
not-for-profit sector in India. I was able
to further develop old relationships, and
to build new ones which I believe will
help Driving with Selvi have a strong
social impact in India and beyond.
- Elisa Paloschi, DRIVING WITH SELVI
“I think the event went off
spectacularly - and kudos to
you and the team.”
Chandrasekhar Reddy,
FIREFLIES IN THE ABYSS
"It was truly an honour to be part of India's first Goodpitch. The
workshop was intense, insightful and productive. We were
delighted by the involvement of the organizers of Goodpitch
India and Global. Their advice and mentorship helped us build a
powerful pitch. The event itself was conducted seamlessly. Ours
was a highly influential table consisting of the top leadership in
Indian Healthcare. We were able to raise $10,000 for our
production funding from our panel and the audience. Since the
pitch, we have been in touch with several participants such as
the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation(EGPAF) and are
currently discussing specific areas of collaboration. Thank you
Goodpitch, IDF and BritDoc."

about Good Pitch India
“Excellent Workshops, led by professional and
passionate filmmakers and visionaries which
culminated in a Round Table which brought
together corporate partners, NGOs,
Institutions. Introducing them into a new world
of CHANGE, using the lens of films, Good Pitch
India bridged collaborations important to
create an outreach for mu films. Designing
strategies for affecting change, they found
support for the region's nascent film
community, in a manner which is hereto unseen
and unheard of in India.”
- Sonia Kirpalani, 17 NOT REQUIRED INDIANS
Our sincere thanks to the entire team and
specially to you, Nick and Sandy for all the
necessary inputs, suggestions and advice.
We know that we gave you a lot of pain
throughout the process, and in turn what
an incredible support we had from all of
you! It has been really a great fascinating
learning experience for us.
- Debanjan Sengupta,
BORDER WITHIN BORDER
"GoodPitch Mumbai was an amazing
experience. We were able to secure some
finance and outreach partners for our film. We
also made invaluable connections with
filmmakers and other social-campaigners from
across India. Most importantly the event
showed us the real hunger for this film in India“

Good Pitch panelists said…
“I found Good Pitch's approach of bringing together stakeholders from different sectors very interesting.
It is true that documentaries often require different types of support and the event's approach was useful
in that respect. The subjects were well researched and the facilitator played a key role in creating an
atmosphere of coherence and support.”
-Moutushi Sengupta, MACARTHUR FOUNDATION
“I was impressed by the eclectic group of well-wishers, philanthropists and of Kiran Rao who gave of her
time so generously. You hardly ever find such a critical mass of change makers and game changers in one
platform...Way to go Goodpitch”
- Patricia Mukhim, THE SHILLONG TIMES
