IC 3 facility – What it is all about
Set up by US Govt – Customs and Border Protection.
QICT manages the National Block of this facility.
Security provided by QICT.
IC 3 – means
– Radio active check.
– Scanning
– Hand held instrument check if scanning fails.
FSN (Foreign service nationals) operate the facility.
Why PQA was selected/Facility Overview
Over 70% of Pakistan Exports to USA were moving out of
QICT in 2005-2006.
US Customs & Pakistan customs selected Port Qasim as
pilot program for CSI – IC3 facility.
Land given to Customs – 10 acres
Facility is linked with US Custom in USA (Target center)
QICT manages and operates National Block of IC3.
Average of 210 cntrs per day for US exports.
Capacity – 250-350 containers per day.
2nd Scanner installed in 2009 to cope up with the volume.
Exporters Saving Scanning Charges paid earlier on
Transshipment Ports & invaluable time.
