RETREAT WITH FATHER RICK
We are planning an overnight Lenten retreat at the
Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington
Long Island. We are leaving on Monday, March 9 at
8:30 a.m. and will return Tuesday, March 10 before 5
p.m. The seminary is located in a beautiful section of
Long Island and sits on more than 200 acres of land.
The retreat will include mass, confessions, conferences,
sharing and quiet time. Everyone will have their own
room and bath. Lunch and Dinner on Monday as well as
breakfast and lunch on Tuesday will be provided. The
cost for the retreat (lodging, meals and transportation)
will be $125. Space is limited to only 30 people—act
fast! Please speak to Fr Rick or call the parish office to
reserve your space.
RETIRO CON EL PADRE RICK
Estamos planeando un retiro de Cuaresma de una
noche en el Seminario de la Inmaculada Concepción
en Huntington, Long Island. Estaremos saliendo el lunes
9 de marzo a las 8:30 am y volveremos el martes, 10 de
marzo, antes de las 5 pm. El seminario está situado en
un hermoso lugar de Long Island y se encuentra en más
de 200 acres de tierra. El retiro incluirá Misa,
confesiones, conferencias, intercambio y tiempo de
silencio. Cada uno tendrá su propia habitación y baño.
Se proporcionará almuerzo y cena el lunes, así como el
desayuno y el almuerzo del martes. El costo para el
retiro (alojamiento, alimentación y transporte) será de
$ 125. ¡El espacio es limitado para sólo 30 personas,

REGULACIONES DE CUARESMA 2015
Para ayudar a los fieles de la Diócesis de Brooklyn para sacar el máximo provecho de la
temporada de Cuaresma, nuestro Obispo, Monseñor Nicholas DiMarzio, quisiera
recordarnos de lo siguiente:
ABSTINENCIA
Todos los fieles que han alcanzado los 14 años de edad están obligados a abstenerse totalmente
de comer carne el Miércoles de Ceniza y los viernes de Cuaresma.
AYUNO
Todos los fieles entre las edades de 18 y 59 están obligados a ayunar el Miércoles de Ceniza y
Viernes Santo. Esta práctica consiste limitarnos a una sola comida completa y evitar los
alimentos entre comidas. Un alimento ligero también puede ser tomado en otras dos ocasiones
durante el día.
DEBERES PASCUALES
Después de recibir el sacramento de la Santísima Eucaristía, todos los fieles deben recibir la
Sagrada Comunión al menos una vez al año. Este precepto debe
cumplirse durante la temporada de Pascua, a no ser por una buena razón que se cumpla en otro
momento del año. Por razón especial, en los Estados Unidos, el plazo para el cumplimiento de
este precepto se ha extendido iniciando el primer domingo de Cuaresma (22 de febrero 2015)
hasta la fiesta de la Santísima Trinidad (31 de mayo de 2015).
LENTEN REGULATIONS 2015
In order to assist the faithful of the Diocese of Brooklyn to take full advantage of the Lenten
season, our Bishop, Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, would like to remind us of
the following:
ABSTINENCE
All the faithful who have reached 14 years of age are required to abstain totally from meat on
Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent.
FASTING
All the faithful between the ages of 18 and 59 inclusive are bound to fast on Ash Wednesday
and Good Friday. This practice involves limiting oneself to a single full meal and avoiding
food between meals. Light sustenance may also be taken on two other occasions during the day.
EASTER DUTY – After they have been initiated into the Most Holy Eucharist, all the faithful
are bound by the obligation of receiving Holy Communion at least once a year.
This precept must be fulfilled during the Easter season, unless for a good reason it is fulfilled
at another time of the year. By special indult, in the United States, the time period for
fulfilling this precept has been extended to include the period beginning the First Sunday of
Lent (Feb. 22, 2015) to Trinity Sunday (May 31, 2015).

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
Every Thursday is our parish prayer day as we adore the Lord – His holy Body and Blood – in the sacred
monstrance. Exposition begins immediately following the 9 a.m. mass in the chapel and continues until benediction at 7 p.m. All are encouraged to stop in the chapel on Thursday to pray and spend some time with Jesus.

Yes, we will all lose one hour of sleep but…..it’s a sign that Spring is on it’s way!!
LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR: Next weekend we welcome The Little Sisters of the Poor to our parish. As you
know they have a home in Queens Village for elderly who are poor and need assistance. The Sisters will
speak about their work at all masses. They will take a free-will offering at the doors of the church. As always,
please do your best to be generous.
ST. JOSEPH-ST PATRICK CELEBRATION.
Join us on Wednesday, March 18 for our traditional St. Joseph-St Patrick celebration.
It’s a wonderful celebration of excellent food, drink, music and culture here at St. Bart’s. Everyone who
attends will be asked to bring a food dish of corned beef and cabbage OR Pastas enough for 5 or 6 people.
Tickets will be $5. This will help to cover the costs of decorations, plates, cups, utensils, wine and sodas.
We only have space for 90 people. Tickets will be available on March 4 and11 after the 9 a.m. mass in Heafey Hall.

por favor, cambie su reloj... ¡Se adelanta una hora! Sí, todos
vamos a perder una hora de sueño, pero... ¡¡es que es una
señal de que la primavera está en camino!!
HERMANITAS DE LOS POBRES: El próximo fin de semana les
damos la bienvenida a las Hermanitas de los Pobres a nuestra
parroquia. Como saben ellas tienen un hogar en
Queens Village para personas mayores que son pobres y
necesitan ayuda. Las Hermanas hablarán sobre su trabajo en
todas las Misas. Recibirán una ofrenda voluntaria en las
puertas de la iglesia. Como siempre, por favor, haga lo posible
para ser generoso.
EXPOSICIÓN DEL SANTÍSIMO SACRAMENTO
Cada jueves es nuestro día de oración parroquial ya que
adoramos al Señor, Su santo Cuerpo y Sangre, en
la sagrada custodia. La exposición comienza inmediatamente
después de la Misa de 9 am en la capilla y continúa hasta la
bendición a las 7 pm. Todos son invitados a hacer una parada
en la capilla los jueves para orar y pasar un tiempo con Jesús.
Fiesta de San José - San Patricio
Únase a nosotros el miércoles 18 de marzo con motivo de
nuestra tradicional fiesta de San José - San Patricio. Es una
maravillosa celebración de excelente comida, bebida, música y
cultura aquí en San Bartolomé. A todos los que asistan se les
pide que traigan un plato de comida de carne curada y repollo
(corned beef and cabbage) o pastas, suficientes para 5 ó 6
personas. Las entradas serán de $5. Esto ayudará a cubrir los
costos de las decoraciones, platos, vasos, utensilios, vino y
refrescos. Sólo tenemos espacio para 90 personas.
Las entradas estarán disponibles el 4 y 11 de marzo después de la
Misa 9am en el Heafey Hall.
