Port Spencer
Port Giles
In the last 50 years ……for bulk transhipment,
Open storage areas or large storage sheds had to be built on prime
waterfront land areas, equal to the capacity of an export vessel
THEN LARGE EXPENSIVE JETTIES WOULD BE BUILT OUT
TO DEEPWATER (these days around $1bn)
Options – Port Bonython, Port Spencer , Myponie Point
Traditional Applications
• Restricted to wind speeds of 20 -25
knots
• Inland sheltered waters
Sea Transport Logistics, with a successful track record
in dust free transhipment vessels, has focussed on a total weather
and environmental solutions for remote area bulk exports,
Incorporating the use of small transfer sheds in small harbours.

Sea Transport Floating Harbour Transhipment (FHT)
Solution
For up to 40 Mtpa in coastal waters
Lloyds List Shipping Innovation Award 2012
The feeder proceeds out to the Floating Harbour Transhipper (FHT) and docks stern first
into the aft end, and is discharged into the FHT or directly into an export vessel if one is
alongside
The FHT replaces the need for large storage sheds ashore
and provides a safe dock undercover with total dust
containment measures
The FHT comes in 3 different sizes:Handy size FHT
with 30,000 tonnes storage
capacity 7m TPA
Panamax FHT
with 50,000 tonnes storage
capacity 15m TPA
Cape size FHT
with 120,000 tonnes storage
capacity 40m TPA
The feeder vessels are all quad screw Sea Transport SLV designs and
vary between 2,000 and 15,000T capacity
• Feeder vessels offload into the FHT at rates between 2 and 6,000 TPH
• The FHT loads out at 4,000-7,000 TPH
This bold change to transhipment thinking, Sea Transport has
focused on a small shallow harbour solution,
with shallow draft feeder vessels
