6/7/16 - St. Marys School
June 7, 2016
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Congratulations to our 8th grade graduates! I’m so proud of their many accomplishments not only in
the academic sense but also the spiritual side that they each displayed. The children and parents
enjoyed an Awards Dinner/Dance on Friday. Last night we celebrated their graduation mass. We will
miss them and wish them all the best in high school.
Welcome back to Mrs. Whittaker! Although she will be retiring at the end of this school year, she is
able to rejoin us for the last few weeks.
Yesterday our students participated in Moving Up Day. This gave them the opportunity to visit with
the teachers of the next grade level and see the classrooms. They participated in some fun activities!
Our volunteers are such a vital part of our success. Thanks to all who give their time, talent and
treasure! Because of your generosity we are able to provide superior educational experiences to our
children.
Reading and supply lists will soon be on the website. Class lists will be available at the end of the
summer. Requests for classroom placement will no longer be accepted.
I am pleased to inform you that Mrs. Ann Marie Morales and Mrs. Chris Owens will share the duties
of Athletic Director. They have already begun planning the sports program for the upcoming school
year! I am grateful that they are willing to take on this huge task!
We are looking forward to celebrating with our Preschool and Kindergarten students as they
participate in their Closing Ceremonies later this week! Please keep our children in your prayers!
God Bless!

To the students, staff, and parents at SMS,
We are deeply humbled by the love and support we have received from the
whole SMS community. All the support, prayers, and donations are beyond anything
we could have imagined. The kindness that eveyone has shown, not only to Aidan, but
our whole family is truly a blessing.
“Superheroes for Aidan” was such an amazing day for Aidan! He loved seeing all
the kids line the hall and cheer him on. We will never forget the smile that he had on
his face as he walked down the halls surrounded by so much love. He especially loved
the fact that he even made it on T.V. Approximity $5,500 was raised to help support
his medical bills and other costs related to his treatment.
We would like to thank the awesome students for all their hard work decorating
the hallways and collecting stickers for the superhero shields outside each classroom.
We really want to thank all the students for welcoming Aidan with such heartwarming
cheers and love.
We want to thank the hard-working staff for allowing the disruption to the
school day, for wearing the awesome shirts, helping to decorate the school, and for the
donations made.
Lastly, we want to thank the parents for all the donations. We cannot thank you
enough for your kindness and generosity.
With Love,
The Eberhardt Family

May 2016
Dear St. Mary School Family,
For over 60 years, St. Mary School has provided a quality Catholic education for young people in our
community. We now educate close to 600 students each year in our preschool through eighth grade.
In order to continue to prepare our young people for high school, college, and beyond our school has
sought to expand the educational resources and activities provided to our students. We are accomplishing this
through the efforts of our St. Mary School Annual Fund. Gifts in support of the St. Mary School Annual Fund are
used for programs that allow us to carry on our mission and motto of Learning and Living in Christ.
This year, we are raising funds for supplemental materials to enhance our math and language arts
curriculum, additional technology resources, hands on equipment for our science lab, professional development
for our teachers, classroom furniture, and other essential educational needs in order to continue to provide a
quality education for our students. Attached please find our 2014-2015 Annual Report, along with a donation
form. The 2013-2014 Annual Report is available on our website, www.smarys.org under Giving.
The St. Mary School Annual Fund is...pursuing academic excellence!
The support of the St. Mary School Annual Fund allows us to teach and inspire our students as they
discover and develop their talents, enabling them to attain their God-given potential. The Annual Fund
provides opportunities for development and enhancement of curriculum and academic programs,
supplemental resources, and up-to-date technology as well as faculty and staff enrichment. Your gift will
help our students develop the necessary skills to succeed now, in high school and beyond.
The St. Mary School Annual Fund is…building a foundation for spiritual growth!
St. Mary School is enriched by Catholic tradition and lived Gospel values and is enhanced by the
celebration of liturgy, sacraments and prayer. St. Mary School further develops the children’s knowledge
and practice of their faith and guides them to serve others through their use of their gifts and talents.
The St. Mary School Annual Fund is…cultivating values rooted in our Catholic heritage!
Students of St. Mary School are provided the opportunity to unite with others through service projects
and outreach programs which contributes to a vibrant parish and community now and in the future.
The Annual Fund is critical to support our students, faculty, programs and facilities that are used on a daily
basis by our entire parish community. I am offering you the opportunity to join with me, our faculty, staff and
school board in supporting our 2015-2016 St. Mary School Annual Fund. Our goal this year is $65,000.
I invite you to join us in showing your commitment to the future of St. Mary School and to please consider
St. Mary School among your family’s philanthropic priorities. Every gift is meaningful and your participation does
make a difference. On behalf of our school community and especially our children, thank you for helping us carry
on our mission and motto of Learning and Living in Christ.
Gratefully,
Mrs. Patricia Mancuso
Principal

HELP US SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT
ST. MARY SCHOOL!!
If you currently have a SMS lawn sign, we ask if you could
please place it on your lawn at this time. If you are in need of a
lawn sign, please see Jackie Kern in the Advancement Office
during normal school hours.
The best advertisement for our school is word of mouth from
our current families.
Thank you for all you do for St. Mary School!
Dear Parents/Guardians:
This year, over 65 million children in the United States will a suffer loss due to a
parent or guardian’s death, divorce or other life-altering event. Most children do not
have the tools necessary to process that profound pain on their own.
Rainbows for All Children is here to help!
I'm proud to announce our school is now a Rainbows Site. Rainbows’ programs are
delivered in the children’s school, faith based institutions, and other community
organizations where the children are already comfortable and familiar. Unlike
individual therapy, participants are able to grieve, communicate and heal among
peers; they no longer feel alone in their grief.
The Program is for all children whose families are going through the difficult
transition of divorce, live in blended families, single-parent families, those grieving
the death of a parent or family member, or any other life-altering event.
Children can find it extremely difficult to verbalize their feelings. Participants are
involved in weekly meetings where their story can be shared in a loving and
accepting environment. Children who receive help processing a new family situation
have better self-esteem, better school study habits and attendance, and feel better
about themselves than those who did not receive support. Since each person's
healing is unique to them, they may participate year after year, for as long as they
choose.
If you are interested in having your child participate in The Rainbows Program,
please fill out the information on the next page and return it to the school by Friday,
April 29, 2016. The program will not begin until the 2016-2017 school year.
If you have any questions/concerns, please feel free to contact me
at [email protected]. Please know that all information is strictly confidential.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Cindy Davis

I would like to be a captain: (must be able to work all nights of carnival) ______

That’s a lot of can tabs!
(and that’s all from one family!)
The SMS Ministry of Student Leadership continues
to collect can tabs to help patients
at the Ronald McDonald House.
A cup at the sink or a jug near your recycling
makes it easy to save.
Telling family and friends helps the collection grow
even more quickly. That’s what the Long family did to
accumulate all these tabs.
Remember to save the can tabs
from your bar-b-ques this summer.
Every little bit helps. Thank you!

