Diamond status...
De-Su Gillespy
When it comes to longevity, Jeeves is a step
ahead and is a global outlier for lifespan.
With his moderate stature, +4.6 fertility
index, one of the highest bulls available for
Lifespan at +0.7 and negative somatic cells
count, he is a very favourable sire within
today’s industry.

Not only have we had the opportunity recently
to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee,
but also the chance to celebrate a King of the
Holstein breed, Diamond sire, Ked Outside
Jeeves. Jeeves is no stranger to producers
worldwide and is believed to be one of the best
Outside sons available following his first release
in 2008, Since then, he has shown his superb
ability to breed an easy care cow that is well
put together and a pleasure to milk. He has
continued to write the success story for the Ked
prefix and strives to be the longevity specialist.
Jeeves sires cattle that will be profitable for
a number of years and continue to impress
throughout their lifetime. He will give you
progeny that are built to last and work in
all systems. Daughters are moderate for
stature and having notable width and power
throughout. Rump angle is set correct with
fantastic width from behind. Mammaries are
youthful with snug fore attachments, strong
cleft, with the teats positioned centrally under
the quarters. Daughters are easy to milk and
their placid temperaments are noteworthy.
When it comes to genomics, Jeeves is leaving
his share of progeny within the top US genomic
rankings. His son Shema Jeeves Cameron has
ranked highly over the last year. Other sons
include Berryridge Jeeves Jives and Ensenada
Jeeves Paul, also rank highly within the US
genomic rankings.
This super sire may not throw the flashy show
type progeny, but he certainly ticks many boxes
which we are all looking for within the breed
today: beautifully balanced dairy cows that are
built to last.
Jeeves
Ked Outside
As many of you will be aware, Jeeves descends
from a world class cow family, which was made
famous by the truly outstanding Blackstar son,
ABS Ked Juror, a bull that needs no introduction.
Julienna EX 2E 94, Jeeves dam is said to be one
of the best Duster daughters in America.

The De-Su family...
The De-Su Georgina cow family is proving its self as
an influential player in the breeding world today.
De-Su Holsteins is located in North East Iowa in the
United States. Dean and Sue Meyer farm with their
two sons Darin and Dustin. Over the past twenty
years, De-Su has grown from a typical midwest
tie-stall herd to milking 1,100 cows three times a
day with a tank production average over 100lbs
this winter. The Georgina family has lived at De-Su
for several generations. The foundation cow DeSu Patron Gold lived to over ten years of age and
produced over 200,000lbs lifetime! She was a
tremendous silky dairy cow with an excellent udder.
Unfortunately she was not a great flush cow, but
she did leave VG daughters sired by Hershel, Garter
and BWM. Patron Gold’s most famous daughter is
BWM Georgia EX90 who is still alive and producing
in the herd today at 10 years of age! Unlike her
mother, Georgia has flushed extremely well, as she
has one EX and fifteen VG daughters to date. On
the female side of things, De-Su O-Man 6121 has
sixteen VG, 25 GP and fifty other daughters under
two years of age. “One thing that has impressed
me about the Georgina family is no matter
what bull was used on the family…the resulting
daughters always have good udders and they age
gracefully.” Comments Sire Analyst, Paul Trapp. As
you see, Genus ABS has invested heavily into this
successful commercial family and great results are
just starting to graduate from progeny test.
There has been a great deal of excitement
surrounding the first sons from De-Su especially
Grover, a Jose Son, Gillespy and Gavin; full brothers
by Bolton.

Gillespy is a global phenomenon, he is the blend of
two Genus ABS millionaires Bolton x Shottle, which
has proven a perfect mating on this sensational
cow family. Where the world really felt the loss of
Bolton, Gillespy is nearly a carbon copy of Bolton
himself. But breeding true to the Georgina cow
family he has around 300 more kgs of milk than
Bolton with fantastic well attached shallow udders.
It is not often we come across a bull with this level
of production and type, he is truely unique. Just
looking at the photos of the daughters you can
really see the perfect blend of Bolton and Shottle
rolled into one.

De-Su Oman 6121, this cow is taking the breeding
world by storm, in the chase for high numbers on
genomics, this cow is really excelling. It is really
exciting for Genus ABS to be graduating her first
sons.
Grover daughters are strong cows with a
tremendous width and capacity throughout.
Daughters breed true to the Georgina cow family
with tremendously well attached udders and
functional legs and feet. They are hard working
cattle producing high volumes of milk all combined
with a superb fertility index, which is a rare but
desirable combination for a sire.

Stylish, sensational udders and
show winning Type...
By Louise Glenn
If you are looking for beautiful Type, why not head
straight to the end of our Dairy Directory and look
under Z. Zelgadis is building his reputation quickly
for his ability to breed a flashy calf to present in
both the show circuit and forthcoming elite sales,
and they are really something when they calve in.
Zelgadis is sired by Goldwyn and traces back to a
fantastic Excellent Juror, Cascina Giobbi Vittoria
EX90. She is now in her tenth lactation continuing
to perform with the Botasso’s herd producing a
fantastic VG88 Aaron daughter, dam of Zelgadis.
The family is no stranger to graduating bulls, also
graduating Kaimurat from the same line from a
Merchant daughter straight out of the Juror.
Zelgadis sits right at the top of the Type Merit
rankings, smashing way over the 3points barrier
at +3.77 Type, whilst ticking boxes for sensational
mammary systems and an awesome ability to
track and exceptional legs and feet scoring +3.79.
Zelgadis daughters have great stretch and add
plenty of stature whilst adding strength and
capacity with great clean bone.
Combining Type and management traits is a
relatively unique combination to find. As we all
know, it’s great to have good looking cows but the
bottom line all comes down to those cows that
make you money. Zelgadis brings himself to the
forefront positively demonstrating those desirable
traits, daughter fertility (+3.5), Somatic Cell Counts
(-18) and Lifespan (+0.1) scores.
Woodmarsh Zoro,
the new star unmasked
Woodmarsh Zoro is the latest Goldwyn son to be
added to the team of elite Goldwyn sons from
Genus ABS. He adds something a bit different with
his pedigree power and genuine fat and protein
percentages. A must for those breeders looking for
stylish cattle that enhance milk value.
Last month saw a group of Cheshire farmers and
Genus ABS Representatives having the opportunity
to see some of the original Zelgadis test daughters
and a number of systems in Italy. The Zelgadis
daughters were located in a very commercial farm
with the visitors commenting on their openness of
rib and ability to track, whilst also showing great
improvements over dam in every aspect.
So if you fancy the opportunity to breed the next
show winner and an excellent Type cow with great
management traits then look no further as this bull
has everything to offer.

His dam Woodmarsh Zoey completes five
generations of Excellent cows and is sired by
Outside, known for his longevity and farmer
satisfaction. Zoey is no cotton-wool wrapped
individual show box cow and performs with the
rest of the 300 cows within the Woodmarsh herd.
Her performance is exceptional with a top 305
day record of 16,287 lts at 4.6%F 3.13%P (milked
3X) and over 50 tonnes of milk to date. Equally
impressive is her ability to transmit that supremacy
to her offspring with no fewer than eight VG
daughters contributing to her 7* brood cow status.
This includes four full sisters to Zoro two scoring
88 points and two scoring 87 points, all as young
animals. One of these sisters, Woodmarsh Zandra
VG88 (pictured) is currently a Cornerstone bull
dam.
Zoro’s grand dam is the beautiful Ocean-View
Mandel Zandra who scored an impressive 95 points
and was dam of the highly notable proven bull
Ocean-View Zenith.
As you would expect from his pedigree, Zoro
stamps a real class and style into his daughters
with silky black skins and dairy bodies. Rumps are
wide and pleasing to the eye. Zoro daughters have
exceptional locomotion and clean bone
through the legs. Udder attachments are tight and
high with shallow udders and strong ligaments.
He has the ability to produce that special one, just
ask John Downing from the Wintersell herd, his
only two test daughters both scored VG as two
year olds.
Zoro ticks all the boxes for production especially
with those fat and protein deviations to lift milk
prices. With quiet temperaments, correct milking
speed and low cell counts they soon become
parlour favorites. Also with high daughter fertility
they are the sort of cows farmers will like to work
with over a long lifetime.

breeders chasing high numbers, daughters then
began to make an impact upon the showring,

that Destry can produce, his first born daughter
has won shows as a calf and now in milk, which
is a tremendous feat. DESTRY has the potential
to make a huge impact on breeder herds and the
