Dear Friend,
As you may know, the Ohio Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (Ohio AAP) is the
professional association for more than 2,900 Ohio pediatricians, pediatric specialists, and
residents. However, what you may not know is that the charitable arm of the Ohio AAP, the Ohio
AAP Foundation, provides programming throughout the state on various health topics such as
injury prevention, childhood nutrition and obesity prevention, foster care and early literacy. More
information about each of these initiatives is available on our website and is enclosed so you can
see all of the amazing programs that are supported by the Foundation.
Today, I’m writing to invite you to be part of an exciting event where Ohio AAP Foundation
programs will be highlighted as part of a day of family fun.
On May 18, 2013 at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, we will be hosting our 7th
annual fundraising program, Lions, Literacy, and Lunch, that will introduce
community leaders and business professionals, in addition to physicians, medical
care providers and families, to our programs in a fun, yet informative, way.
Guest readers, including Dave Kaelin from the WNCI Morning Zoo, will be reading one of our
favorite children’s books to highlight the importance of our early literacy initiative, followed by
presentations highlighting the importance of our other programs. This will be held over lunch,
followed by a Live Animal Presentation and many other fun activities for children. New for
this year’s event are activity booths where children’s activities, such as carnival games, face
painting, and individual reading sessions, will be offered for the kids in attendance. All sponsors
and exhibitors will be given the opportunity to host a booth!
You have a unique opportunity to help us continue the successes of our programs.
We invite you to be part of this exciting event by becoming a sponsor or exhibitor.
Below you will find the various levels of sponsorship and their benefits. You may also choose to
exhibit for recognition by medical care providers, corporations, and parents and families that
support the Ohio AAP; community partners that support families and children in early literacy
development and foster care; and the local media.
