Firstly, I notice that some inappropriate strong words in the article can hurt other readers of the
KPEzine. I am of the opinion that this is not a healthy manner for any learned person. In future, if
we receive any article that contains harsh words we will reject it even if it has any educative value.
This magazine is for sharing knowledge and research findings but not to aim at any one as target. I
do not want the KPEzine to become a medium to criticize others even if it is in a sugar-coated way.
In future we will pay more attention to the language of the article. I WANT TO MAKE A STRONG
REQUEST TO ALL RESPECTED WRITERS: PLEASE CARE ABOUT THE LANGUAGE USED

Casting a Horary Chart Manually

Division of Subs
1. The Hindu zodiac, Vimshottari dasa system and the Western Placidus house system are
three pillars of the KP. The Hindu zodiac of 360 deg is divided into 12 equal rasis or signs of
30 deg each and also into 27 equal nakshatra or star or constellation of 13d20m each. The
constellation is further divided into 9 unequal subs in the proportion in which the planets
are allotted to the total 120 years in the Vimshottari dasa system. On the basis of such
divided 249 subs, the KP Horary of number 1-249 is invented.
Fixed Ascendant of a Horary Chart
2. In casting a Horary chart, the commencing position of the Sub of the Horary number in
the attached Table --- of Subs for Horary Numbers (1 to 249) is taken as the Nirayana
Ascendant position which remains the same irrespective of the date or time or place of
casting the chart.
Place and Time of Casting a Horary
3. Based on the 1st cusp or Ascendant position of a Horary number, the cuspal positions of
other houses are to be calculated for the latitude of the place of judgment by the
astrologer irrespective of the place from which the query has been raised by phone, email etc, using the Placidus Tables of Houses. The planetary positions should be worked
out for the date and time when the astrologer commences analyzing the chart.

Calculation of the Example Chart 2 (Horary)
Calculation of the Cuspal Positions
7. The direct calculation method by a calculator is used in this article. The traditional
methods by means of Logarithms and interpolation table values in the Tables of Houses are
also applicable.
Horary number: 105 (given by the querist)
Place of Casting (POC) or Judgment – Ahmadabad (LG Hospital), 23N00, 72E36
Time of Casting (TOC): January 5, 2008 at 10:04:48 AM IST
Query: When will be marriage?
1) To find out the Nirayana Ascendant rising 149:13:20 for the Horary number 105 from the
attached Table 19 of Subs for Horary Numbers (1-249).
2) To convert the Nirayana Ascendant position to the Sayana one to use the Placidus Tables
of Houses in Sayana values, ie. adding the New KP Ayanamsa 23:52:43 for the date of
casting (DOC) to the Nirayana Ascendant rising 149:13:20 to obtain the Sayana Ascendant
rising 173:06:03.
3) To find the Sidereal Time corresponding to the above Sayana Ascendant rising
173:06:03 in the Placidus Tables of Houses and then to calculate the other cuspal positions
according to the latitude of place of casting the Horary chart.
4) In the KP Universal Tables of Houses (UTOH) or Michelsen Placidus Tables of Houses,
for the latitude 23° North the Ascendant or 1st cusp 173:06:03 (d:m:s) falls between the
lower value 172d38m corresponding to the earlier local Sidereal Time (LST) 5m28s and the
higher value 173d33m corresponding to the later LST 5m32s as shown in the Column 3,
Row 2 and 3 of the following Table 1.
5) LST increment = 5m32s – 5m28s = 4 min

Asc. value change for 4 min = 173:34m – 172:38m = 56 min
Asc. value change from the lower value = 173d6m3s – 172d38m = 28m3s
For 56 min change in Asc. value, there is 4 min increment in the LSidT.
For 28m3s change in Asc. value, how much increment is in the LSidT?
= [(28+3/60)/56] x 4 = (28.05/56) x 4 = 2.0036 min = 2m0.2s
6) The constant proportionate increment ratio (PIR) of 2m0.2s to 4m is to be multiplied by
the changes in other cuspal positions within 4 min as shown in Row 3 to get proportionate
changes in Row 4. By adding the figures in Row 2 and 4, the Sayana positions of cuspal
positions are obtained in Row 5. To obtain the Nirayana positions as shown in Row 6, the
NKPA 23:52:43 is to be subtracted from the figures in Row 5.

Calculation of Cusps for Southern Latitudes
9. The general rule for finding Southern latitude cuspal positions from the currently
available Tables of Houses for Northern latitudes is to add 12 hours to the sidereal time or
180 deg to the cuspal positions (RAMC expressed in arc), calculate the cusps as if the
latitude were North, and then reverse the zodiacal signs of all the cusps found, i.e. the
calculated 1,2,3,10,11,12 cusps for the North latitude are to be changed to the opposite
7,8,9,4,5,6 cusps for the South latitude respectively.
10. Suppose to calculate the cuspal positions for Horary no. 105 at the place of casting
(POC) Belata Vista do Paraiso, Brazil, 23S00, 51W12. The fixed Nirayana Ascendant rising
149-13-20 is added by the NKPA 23-53-43 to obtain the Sayana Ascendant rising 173-06-03
as before, and then 180 deg is added further to get the adjusted Sayana Ascendant rising 353-0633. This Ascendant position falls between the values 352-00 and 353-20 corresponding the sidereal
time 17-36 and 17-40 respectively as shown in Table 10, and further calculation is done as calculating
the cuspal positions for the North latitudes.

cuspsof the South latitude.
11. This process can be made easier by using the Sidereal Time in the Tables of Houses
added by 12 hours, if it is less than 12 hours and subtracted by 12 hours, if it is more than
12 hours, after locating the corresponding RAMCs as mentioned above. In this example, the
LST 17-36 and 17-40 are to be deducted by 12 hours to obtain 5-36 and 5-40. It is also
necessary to change the sign of each cusp to the opposite side of zodiac by adding 180 deg.
For instance, 353-19.7 and 351-59.9 for I cusp are to be changed to 173-19.7 and 171-59.9
for VII cusp, which is based in place of I cusp, for calculation of the other cusps; 30-27.1 and 2916.6 for II cusp to 210-27.1 and 209-16.6 for VIII cusp and so on as shown in Table 12.

Sri S Vidyasagar who is a Section Officer working in our office, during April 2006 enquired about
his son Sri Srikar who is studying in Sri Chaitanya College, Hyderabad aspiring for IIT competitive
examination. The Birth details of Srikar was obtained (DOB: 1-6-1989 TOB: 21.22 Hrs. POB: Koti
, Hyderabad.) and the chart was casted in KP system which is appended herewith .
KP significations for higher studies and competitive examinations are as follows:
As per the KP House Grouping Part I of Oct. 2007 e-zine compiled by Sri Tinwin ji, Secondary education – 4-11 Higher education - 4, 9 -11 Competitive Exams - 4,9,11 & 6, Negative house: 3,5,8
and 12.
For good education judge 4th & 11th houses: The sub-lord of 4th cusp favourably signifies 4 & 11
is good for secondary education and if it is connected with 9th & 11th is good for higher education
(College / Post graduation). In case if it is a competitive examination like IIT, IAM, Seat in
renowned top universities the 6th house signification is also essential for qualifying the same.
Alternatively we conclude that 3 & 8 houses signification is negative for getting education and 5th
house is not favourable for competitive examination as these houses are 12th house to their respective houses and hence does not give fruitful results relating education.
ANALYSIS:
In the natal chart, 4th cusp sub lord is Mars (Lord of 4th, 11th &12th is in 7th) is in the star of
Jupiter (Lord of 1,3 in 5) and in the sub of Venus (Lord 5,6 & 10 in 6) . Hence, the 4th cusp sublord
is well connected to 4, 1, 11 & 6. This boy is a ranker in his secondary education from his childhood.
9th cusp sub lord Jupiter (lord 1 & 3 in 5th house close to 6th cusp) is in Moon star (8th lord in
4th house) in the sub of Sun (in 5th house) Thus connected with 4th house. 11th CSL Rahu, No
planet in the star of Rahu and Rahu is sublord of 11th cusp so Rahu is strong signfictore of 11. Rahu
aspected by Sat, Saturn being 6th CSL and no planet in Sat star. (2 lord in 12th house) Rahu is in
Mars star, Mars (Lord of 4th, 11th &12th is in 7th) Rahu is in Moon sub, Moon (8th lord in 4th
house) Hence it is anticipated that the boy will be successful in his IIT examinations and will secure a seat.

Sun is in the star of Moon and sub of Sat. Sun is in 5, Moon (8th lord in 4th house) , Saturn being

4th house) , Saturn being 6th CSL and no planet in Sat star. (2 lord in 12th house),Mer signifies
4,9,6. Mercury being a 1st CSL initially given lot of tension about the results but ultimately the
boy got a good rank 208/2006 and ultimately chosen IIT Gowahati with his choice of Computer
Science Engg.) Though Dasa lord sun and Bhukthi lord mercury represents as star level (moon/ sun)
given mental tension but at sublord level Saturn (common) is sublord of 6 and no planet in the star
of Sat so sat is very strong signficator of 6th, has awarded him the desired seat.

Roberto Neto Savimbi, and the Portuguese government signed the Alvor Agreement on January 15,
1975, setting November 11 , 1975, as the Date for Independence. The current government has announced an intention to hold elections in 2009. These elections would be the first since 1992 and
would serve to elect both a new President and a new National Assembly.

The National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (Portuguese: União Nacional para a Independência Total de Angola) is the second-largest political party in Angola. UNITA, founded in
1966, fought against the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) during the War
for Independence (1961-1975) and the ensuing civil war (1975-2002). The war was one of the most
prominent Cold War proxy wars, with UNITA receiving military aid from the People's Republic of

4(Democracies, Democratic Government and movements), Conj with Sun, Mer. Sun is in 4(Democracies, Democratic Government and movements) lord of 2. Mer is in 3 lord of 3,12. Jup is in 8 lord

Dasa lord Mars signifies 4(Democracies, Democratic Government and movements), 9(Religious

Astrodiagnosis – One single Kidney since Birth

This case is about a young woman, who was born with only one kidney on 3rd September 1984, TOB
12:12PM (noon) in Unna, Germany (51N32/7E41).
AC: 13°54:58 Libra – KP ayanamsha 23°33`10``
Moon: 29°35:44 Scorpio
DBAS: Mercury Saturn Rahu Ketu.
Attention: Some programs and ayanamshas may shift the Moon already into Sagittarius, Ketu star.
Lungs, tonsils, eyes, ears, kidneys, ovaries, testicles, arms and legs belong to the pairy organs or
body parts. Congenital deformations of the urinary system appear in 40%. They hold the highest
rate of all malformations. According to my literature one person among thousand is likely to be
born with a single kidney .
How can we diagnose a missing kidney in the horoscope with KP?
Libra, Venus and the 7th house are the main indicators for kidneys.
To detect a single kidney, we have to concentrate on planets with unique, reducing or transforming
character like Sun, Saturn, Ketu and Pluto and on their connection with Libra,Venus and the 7th
house.
The majority of the multiplying or extending planets like Mercury, Jupiter and Rahu have to be
under the sway, such restricting planets by means of being in signs, stars or conjunctions of or with
them such restricting planets. Furthermore the 12th house/sign of loss is to be examined in regards
of the above said.
Libra rising ascendant sign and the 1st bhava are inflicted by Saturn of reducing character by nature and ruler of 1st and 4th houses. In addition, the restricting planet Ketu by nature and significator of 1st and 4th houses occupies the 1st bhava and Pluto is also posited in the Asc sign. The
1st cuspal sublord Mercury signifies the restricting and unfavorable houses 1,10, 11 (Badhaka) and
12. So the kidney problem is indicated by the Libra sign.
Venus` second sign Taurus represents the difficult 8th house to Libra borns and is afflicted by
Rahu in this chart. Just notice that Rahu is the sublord of the difficult houses 3, 6, 8 and 12.
Rahu`s 7th house signification and his own sublord Venus lead us to the kidney problem. Rahu occupies a Sun constellation while. Rahu`s influence is therefore not effective to the 11th bhava`s
multiplying character, especially as the sublord of this house is also Rahu.
Lagnesh Venus occupies the 11th bhava and rules the difficult 8th house. Since the 11th bhava is
the Badhaka for the movable Asd Libra, the multiplying effects of the 11th bhava are reduced.
Moreover, Venus in the star of Sun signifying the restrictive bhava 10th and in its own sub. So
Venus is also not favorable for the kidney matter. The 7th cusp sublord Venus does not support the
kidney matter of this house as Venus is the significator of the difficult 8th and 11th bhavas and
restrictive 1st and 12th bhavas.
Virgo`s ruler Mercury was in retrograde and in Ketu`s nakshatra Magha. Overall Mercury is conjoined with a strong Sun in Sun`s own sign Leo and loses thus a lot of his duplicating strength.
Additionally Sun in Purva Phalguni adds a strong isolating influence to Venus. because Sun is unic in
our planetary system and influences this Venus constellation with his unic rays. This will give a thin-

ning out or isolating aspect to Venus and helps understanding, why the native was born with one kidney. Nevertheless Venus receives Jupiter`s exact square aspect but the planet of growth occupies
a Ketu constellation too and is further afflicted by retrograde Neptune`s conjunction and by Saturn`s aspect.Additionally Jupiter rules the problematic 3rd and 6th house to Libra borns. So
Jupiter is of less help.
The 7th cusp in Aries, Venus constellation Bharani makes the kidney connection again obvious.
owner Mars in Scorpio is hemmed in between Ketu and Uranus, all in Saturn`s star Anuradha. Mars
signifies the 7th bhava but due to his sublord Jupiter, Mars cannot favour the matters of this
house in a healthy manner. Mars could thus not care for a correct kidney genesis.
Saturn signifies the 7th bhava too but due to his sublord Moon, who signifies the 12th bhava, Saturn can also not support this house sufficiently. The Moon in her fallen sign is afflicted by these
three planets and Moon occupies the star of 12th house ruler Mercury anyway.
12th sublord indicate defect in body. 12th sublord is rahu, in the star of Sun and sub of Ven. Rahu
is in 12(Defect in body), Sun is in 10, Ven is karaka of kidney in 11(badhaka) and lord of 1,8. and Rahu
being sublord of 3,6,8,11,12th bhavas supposed to be connected also cleaarly indicate the kidney
defect. At the same time the extending planet Rahu`s influence is therefore not effective to the
11th bhava`s multiplying character. 12th sublord also cleaarly indicate kidney defect.
The 7th bhava is aspected by Saturn and Jupiter. Saturn is in 1st, ruler of 4th bhava and Jupiter
is in the sublord of Saturn. Jupiter is the significator of not only favourable 2 and 5th houses but
also problematic 3rd and 6th and so Jupiter is of less help. The 7th significators Saturn, Rahu and
Mars which is in the star of Saturn and sub of Jupiter are not supporting the healthy kidney of this
house.
The multiplying planet Mercury is in 10th, ruler of 9,11,12th and in the star of reducing Ketu in 1st
and in the sub of unfavourable Rahu. So its charactor by nature cannot be helpful effectively in this
case.
We can therefore conclude that all our demands are matching the situation in this chart and it can
be stated that this woman has got only one single kidney.
To improve your diagnostic skills I want to present you the data of two cases. They might be clear
enough to deepen your astromedical understanding in regards of kidney problems:
One person was born with a healthy and a rudimentary, functionless kidney each. Hence this problem led to high blood pressure, the atrophy had to be removed at the age of nearly 19.
Contrary to this, the other person was born with three kidneys, which has been diagnosed by
chance. Three kidneys are rather common and appear in 1% of all people.

Backdrop
In the last issue of KP EZine my article raised quite a number of eyebrows. Some sections of the
KP fraternity have objected for the manner in which I have written the article. As long as it is the
usage of words that have hurt some people, I do owe an apology for unintentionally hurting anyone’s
feeling. In this article, I would like to draw attention to the readers to what Guruji K.S.K himself
said in his writings about changing cuspal sublords and it is up to the readers to understand what
sense does Guruhi K.S.K’s words actually mean to us..
What did K. S. Krishnamurti really mean?
In Astrology & Athrishta monthly magazine of 1970 January issue (Vol. 8 No. 1), in the article
titled ‘Astrology and Disease’ authored by K.S.K on page 27 second column second paragraph, also
in the KP Third Reader: Predictive Stellar Astrology, Old Edition like 1984, part 2, page 118, 3rd
paragraph and New Edition like 1995, 2004, page 281, 2nd paragraph, we find the following words
said by Guruji KSK.
Note the sublord of the sixth (6th) cusp. This needs correct moment of birth. If it is not available,
then if you want to know the sub of the sixth, you take ruling planets at the moment when you have
the urge to put the query. Mysteriously God will help you by eliminating the previous and the next
sub to the one which you have to select.
In my understanding, in “If it is not available, then if you want to know the sub of the sixth, you
take ruling planets at the moment when you have the urge to put the query”. , “What is not available” refers to birth time. Logically therefore, we can understand that only in such situations
where the querist himself raises doubt about the correctness of his own birth time, only then
should we resort to the use of the divine RPs in order to resolve the doubts, and “Mysteriously God
will help you by eliminating the previous and the next sub to the one which you have to select”.
A similar view was expressed by Sri K. Baskaran in his book Secrets of R.P. & The Birth Time
(1999) in page 10 point number 2 that: Unless the client raises specific doubts in his birth-time,
we need not attempt unnecessarily to correct the birth-time at all. However, it is better to check
his birth-horoscope by taking the RPs……Like this we should practice the art of relating all the
twelve bhavas with the present position of the Moon.
Ending this rejoinder
I would like to end this rejoinder with a quotation of Sri K. Baskaran in his book Secrets of R.P.
& The Birth Time, page 15, point 11:
“In my little experience, I have come across young KP astrologers, who do not hesitate to change
SUBs of certain cuspal points. Without detailed study, these young KP astrologers, with a subjective outlook, never afraid to change their horoscopes frequently by changing SUBs of certain
bhavas according to their whims and fancies. This is not advisable. It is irrational and undoing of
the scientific approach of KP. Only because our predictions fail often, it is not reasonable to jump
to the conclusion that the birth time is wrong”.

This case belongs to one of my office colleague who wanted to make a change of job and recently,
he had resigned from the job to take up a new assignment. He was to be released from the job by
April 16, 2008. Though, the negotiations were still ongoing in the new assignment in his apparent
favor, yet he was too apprehensive and wanted to know, how would he fare in the new job.
He approached me on March 03, 2008 in the afternoon and asked me to know his professional
prospects in the new assignment. I obtained horary number 164 from him and started scrutinizing
the horary chart made at 15:51:33 Hrs on 03-03-2008.
Coordinates of judgment
• Lagna in a horary chart for job change represents the native and 7th the employer. 3-9th cusps
indicate the negotiations being held between them on the perks/terms of the job.
• The prospects in a horary chart relating to the profession are primarily governed by the 10H, as
this house decides the way the flow of karma takes place for matters relating to profession.
The indications of 10th cusp get fructified only if there is an amicable link between the 10-11th
cusps. If this link is missing, then the chances of job change get denied.
• It may be noted that the analysis of cusps of various houses along with the planetary significations
represent the fixed promises of the chart but the results are dispensed by the suitable dashabhukti in consonance with the transits.
The Query
In the horary chart, Moon was placed in 2nd house in Sagittarius sign indicating the concern for
monetary gains and position being the primary driving factor for the native to opt for a job change.
Moon’s star lord Venus placed in 2nd house again confirms it.
Moon owns 6th and 10th cusp as its sub-lord, which means the matter concerning the profession.
This was fair enough to take the query being represented in the chart and was OK to proceed
ahead for analysis.
Analysis of the chart
• Look at the promise indicated by the lagna.
Rahu is the lagna sub-lord. Rahu is placed in 3rd house and falls in the star of Mars as 6th lord This
indicates negotiations from the native yet going on regarding maximizing his gains/perks in the
new job proposal.
Rahu disposes Saturn (Sign lord) and Mars (Star lord), hence its stellar connectivity may also be
examined, thereby completing what Rahu signifies. Saturn is a strong planet and its placement in
9th house may enable some assurances from the employer’s side but its retrogression may not
allow all issues to get sorted out. Mars in its own star as 6th lord placed in 3rd and Rahu’s conjunction with Sun in 3rd also again squares the native to keep pursuing of negotiations from his side.

Incidentally, Rahu is the sub-lord of 3-7-9th cusps, thus it crucially indicates the outcome for negotiations (3-9th cusps) between the native and the employer (1-7th cusp). Since, the Rahu, which
is the sub-lord of 1-3-7-9th cusps, does not link in any way with the 11th house, thus the situation
seems very discouraging for the native to be satisfied with the job offer (9th cusp) and may only
be pestering for more and more (3rd cusp) negotiation.
• Look at the 10th cuspal sub-lord indicating the promise of the job.
10th cuspal sub-lord is Moon, which falls in the star of Venus, placed in 2nd house as 12th lord. With
this signification, it indicates the native getting indifferent as it might be looking too frustrating.
Ketu as the sub-lord of Moon gets placed in 9th house in conjunction with retro-Saturn and the assurances from the employer may not be trustworthy.
Here again, the 10th cuspal sub-lord does not get linked to the 11th house.
• Finally look at the 11th cusp, which decides the overall fructification of the results of the query.
Retro-Saturn is the 11th cuspal sub-lord, which by way of its placement signifies 9th house as 4th
lord. From the stellar point of view, Saturn falls in the star of Ketu placed in 9th house. Since, Ketu
disposes itself and Sun, Sun may be examined and here, it may be noted that Sun Sun itself in 3rd
falls in the star of Rahu placed in 3rd house.
Importantly, it may be noted that the 11th cusp does not have any connection with either of 2-610th houses and thus it amply gets clear that the job proposal under scrutiny may not fructify at
all.
• Look at the dasha breakup.
Dasha of Venus-Ketu was operating at the time of analysis to run upto 21-4-2008.
Dasha lord - Venus falls in the star of Mars placed in 7th house as 6th lord. Bhukti lord - Ketu falls
in its own star placed in 9th house. Both planets do not have any connectivity to the required houses
for obtaining profession. Thus, it was a clear case of negation to obtain a job.
Thus, it was communicated to the native to be cautious in pursuing the job under scrutiny.
Some facts of the case
The native had to be released on April 16, 2008. As the relieving day was approaching nearer, he
was getting tensed up, as he was not comfortable with the perks offered and the extra things he
had asked were not getting through. Ultimately, when he did not see things moving in the way he
wanted, he applied for the withdrawal of resignation on April 10, 2008.
Note that Rohini star was ruled on that day and Moon did not support in any way towards meeting
his ends for a job change. Note that Rohini Ruler Moon as sub-lord rules the 4th cusp (home and
thereby no change) and 12th cusp (frustration).
Conclusion
Prof. Krishnamurthy has devised a pioneering predictive model in predictive astrology, which deserves sincere appreciation.

PUNARPHOO DOSHA
-
THEORY OF CANCELLATION EFFECTS

The following Chart of a Girl for marriage came to my notice in early 1992, when she completed her
19 years of age and was in 20. On perusal of the Chart, given below, I felt that she was having
strong Punarphoo Dosha, reasons detailed below, and I apprehended that her marriage settlement
might get delayed, as per my scrutiny. It was not a case of denial, but only delay.
What is Punarphoo?
The whole idea of Punarphoo is condensed by Guruji KSK in one paragraph, Reader IV, page 74:
"Whenever Saturn has got any connection what-so-ever with Moon, there will be some obstacle or
impediment, not only during negotiation but also at the time of fixation and even at the time of celebration of the marriage. This connection between Moon and Saturn causes delay, though ultimately
both of them do much more good with a better partner."
It is a matter of DELAY if Saturn is in the star of Moon and his own sub (Saturn); or Moon in the
star of Saturn and in the sub of Moon; or if Moon-Saturn is found in one sign. Besides the above
combination, Punarphoo comes into effect if they are found in the following ways:
1) Moon in the star of Saturn and Saturn in the star of Moon;
2) Moon in the sub-sub of Saturn and Saturn in the sub-sub of Moon; (sub of Saturn & Moon in
“Punarphoo”)
3) If the Moon is in the 3rd sign or in the 10th sign from Saturn, i.e. Saturn's 3rd or 10th aspect
over Moon.
Cancellation of Punarphoo theory by Dr. Kar.
Dr. Kar's cancellation of Punarphoo theory to destroy the evil effects of Punarphoo by burning
Saturn or Moon by Sun's ray (KP & Astrology Year Book 1996, page 70) is to work if:
1) Saturn or Moon or both if found in association with Sun in one sign, may be divided into two
bhavas;
2) Saturn or Moon is in the star of Sun; Or Sun is in the star of either of them;
3) Sun is in the star, lord of which is near either of Moon or Saturn;
4) Any planet near the Moon or Saturn but is in the star of Sun;
5) Saturn or Moon is in the sub-sub of Sun.
(1) Her 7th sublord Venus, 11th lord, with positional strength i.e. no other planet is in its star and
hence Venus is a strong significator for 7th cusp, and so marriage was assured. But Venus is aspected by Saturn by his 10th aspect. (Hindu aspect) Planets connected with Saturn will tend to
delay matters, as he is karaka for delay and obstruction. Further Venus was in the sub of Saturn.
(2) Saturn aspects Moon very closely within 3 Deg.20 minutes. Moon is also in the star and sublord
of Saturn. As per K.P. these planetary positions are enough to assume PP Dosha.
At that time, I did not come across of Dr.K.R.Kar’s Theories. To my astonishment, the Girl’s marriage took place on 30th August 1992, when she was running 20 years of age. At that time, she was
running Mercury Dasa, Kethu Bhukthi, Rahu Anthara.
In the attached natal chart, Dasa lord Mercury was in the star of Sun, lord of 2nd – strong significator of 2nd and sub of Jupiter in 5th.

Now coming to the point of Punarphoo Dosha, how the marriage took place early instead of delay,
which was anticipated. Here comes the cancellation of the PP Dosha as the planet causing PP Saturn
is in the star of Sun and Sun in the star of Moon. Thus Pt. K.R.Kar’s theory of cancellation of
Punarphoo is absolutely found correct in the early marriage of the chart in question.

A Note on
Geocentric Latitude
Correction

Geocentric Longitudes
1. Geocentric system was given by Ptolemy and the Geocentric longitudes of the planetary positions
as seen from the center of Earth have been used in the ephemeris. The Topocentric longitudes are
the positions as seen by an observer at any specified point of the Earth’s surface, and they slightly
differ from the Geocentric positions.
2. The charts generally give the Geocentric longitudes of the planets and the cuspal positions by
the Geographic latitudes of birth place, unless the Geocentric latitude option or correction is
specifically mentioned. It is to note that ‘Geocentric’ specified in the charts of the AstroDatabank,
Astrodienst, websites, books etc. means Geocentric for planetary positions only and cuspal positions are as per Geographic latitude of birth place. The astrological SWs, except Shri Raichur’s,
generally give the same results unless the default setting is changed to Geocentric latitude option
or Geocentric correction. This is the commonly used system in the calculation and presentation of
charts. So it is necessary to specifically mention Geocentric latitude option or correction, if it is
used.
Geocentric Latitudes
3. The Geocentric latitude is the angle between the equatorial plane and a line from the center of
Earth. The Geographic or geodedic latitude is the angle between the equatorial plane and a line from
the point of interest on the surface of Earth. The latitude of a place shown in the atlas is the Geographic latitude. It is calculated from the surface of the earth at the locality where the individual
is born. The Geocentric latitude of place of birth on the surface of Earth is determined from the
point of interest to the center of Earth, as if the birth took place there.
4. It has been advocated for the use of geocentric latitudes in calculating the house cusps of horoscope to ensure better accuracy and precision, in the Astrology and Athrista by N. Krishna Murthy
(1978 May), M.G.G. Nayar (1980), K. Balachandran, Universal Tables of Houses (1985) by S. Balasundaram & A.R. Raichur, end part of Astrosecrets & KP, Part II by K. Subramaniam (Edt), How to
Cast and Read Your Horoscope? by K. Hariharan, beginning part of Astrology for Beginners, Vol 5,
by K. Subramaniam. Because the earth is not a perfect sphere but an oblate spheroid, bulged at
equator and slightly flat along the two poles. As the house figures furnished in the UTOH (and all
Tables of Houses generally) are for Geocentric latitudes only, it is essential to convert the Geographical latitude to Geocentric one in using the tables of houses. The conversion formulas and the
table of minutes for Geocentric correction are provided. (Such table is available in the KP for Beginners-Part 2)
5. The Geocentric latitude equivalent to Geographic one can be found by the formula:
tan A = tan B x 0.993 30546
where A & B are the Geographic and Geocentric latitudes.
(Log tan A = Log tan B + 9.9970828)
6. Shri Raichur’s SW uses the Geocentric latitude. It converts the Geographic latitude from the
atlas to the Geocentric one and gives the cuspal positions for the Geocentric longitude of birth
place. Now it is understandable why is the difference in the cuspal positions given by Shri Raichur’s
SW for the Geocentric latitude and other KP SWs for the Geographic latitude of birth place as

per default setting. Other SWs will also use the Geocentric latitude by choosing the Geocentric
option or Geocentric Correction option.
7. Nowadays there is a tendency of preferring Geocentric latitude of a place of birth other than
Geographic latitude. So the Geocentric latitude option or Geocentric correction is incorporated in
many SWs like KPAstro 3.0, Astraura, Jyotishya Deepika, Astracadabra, Solar Fire etc.
Which One, Geographic or Geocentric is Preferable
8. The preference for Geocentric latitude is as follows:
(a) The preference by some KP followers as mentioned in the point 4;
(b) Charles A Jayne preferred the Geocentric latitude which is 11’less (for 40N05) so that he
had used 39N54 in Locality Astrology;
(c) A table of minutes for Geocentric correction is provided in the AFA Tables of Houses, Placidus
System, American Federation of Astrologers;
(d) Making correct prediction using the Shri Raichur’s SW which applies the Geocentric latitude
all the time.
9. The preference for Geographic latitude is as given under:
(a) Robert Hand had shown in Geocentric Latitude: Some Second Thoughts (Essays on Astrology)
that the preference for geocentric latitude was evidently due to an unfortunate accident in
terminology and the use of geographic latitude gave more accurate results;
(b) Geoffrey Dean, in Recent Advances in Natal Astrology, found the Topocentric system reason
ably effective when he studied it;
(c) Preference for Geocentric in the Western literature is found mainly for planetary positions, for
instance Llewellyn George is for Geocentric for the planetary positions, not for the Geocentric
latitude as mentioned in the Astrosecrets & KP, Part II;
(d) The way of measuring the Geographic latitude seems in line what is required for the calculation
of house cusps and the Geocentric latitude may not fulfill this condition;
(e) If one is tracking objects that are orbiting the Earth in space, then one will probably prefer
to use the geocentric coordinate system rather than the geographical one but not for tracking
a location of birth on the surface of Earth;
(f) One may also argue that since Earth is not a perfect sphere, the Geographic latitude is supposed
to represent the place of birth more accurately compared to a Geocentric representation;
(g) Commonly applied from Guruji Sri K.S. Krishnamurti’s time till now, as correctly mentioned by
Kousalya Sattainathan that Guruji used Geographic latitude only, in KP Astrology & Prime Min
isters.cation & KP’s Nirayana Horary Tables for 2003, for Delhi, Kolkata & Mumbai.
Conclusion
10. The maximum difference between Geocentric and Geographic latitudes is only about 11 minutes,
not so much like in the case of Ayanamsa that it may not change the sub-lords and results of KP
analysis, except in the border line case. I use and prefer the Geographic latitude as it is commonly
used and well tested but I keep my mind open to experiment with the application of Geocentric
latitude correction. By choosing the Geocentric option or Geocentric Correction option, the SW will
give the results for the Geocentric latitude of birth place. It is necessary to mention Geocentric
latitude, if it is used to avoid confusion, otherwise it is understood that Geographic latitude is
used.

Regarding the above mentioned article, the first point is to express that a harsh language used by
the author in this article is unacceptable although a healthy criticism is always welcome. The second
point is to provide the references that the method which is targeted in this article as gross malpractice is advocated by none other than our beloved Guruji Prof. K.S. Krishnamurti.
In my understanding, the correction of sublord of any particular house has been advocated by Guruji Krishnamurti Ji himself in his magazine Astrology & Athrishtra in September 1967 issue on
page 12 under the title “NO MORE DOUBTS” as given under:
“But, I have repeatedly told you all, that for any single question, take the moment when you take
that question for judgment, note down the Lords of lagna, star, rasi and day. They are the ruling
planets at that moment. Take the first query if there are many, that his, if one wants to know the
ascendant, 5th and so on, take ascendant. If one wants to fix up the seventh, 11th and so on take
seventh. If one wants to know eight and six take 8th cusp. If one wants to know 11th, seven and
five take 11th cusp that is the first one mentioned by the querist. Then this cusp falls in a sign
and in a star. Note the Lords of the sign and star. They must be in the list of the ruling planets.
Then note down the remaining ones. Either of the two should be the sublord you take the priority list: first lagna Lord: next nakshatra Lord: third rasilord and fourth day Lord. If day lord
and rasilord happen to be the Lord of the lagna and star of the person, then the sublord will be the
Lord of the lagna and sub-sub Lord of the nakshatra, Constellation at the time of query. Thus you
find the Lord of the sub. Invariably it comes correct.”
In the penultimate paragraph of the same article Guruji has concluded as follows:
“Thus, you fix the exact degree of lagna: if they wanted to know the position of lagna. If
one wants to know the cusp of a house, proceed in the same manner and fix. “
Another reference is also found in the KP Third Reader on page 118 third paragraph as shown
below:
“Note the sublord of the sixth cusp. This needs correct moment of birth. If it is not available then
if you want to know the sub of the sixth, you take the ruling planets at the moment when you
have the urge to put the query. Mysteriously God will help you by eliminating the previous and the
next sub to the one which you have to select.”
Hence, the use of RPs for correcting the sub of any house has followed Guruji’s method and not deviated from the KP principles which are the main concern for the author.
In order to get the correct sublord for the required cusp, in my opinion the birth time correction
needs to be carried out and further analysis is to be done with the corrected birth chart.
Another view is not to undertake the birth time rectification, in other words not to recast the
horoscope again, in such cases and to correct only the required sublord because when one judges
the other matter of the same native then again one will confirm the related cuspal sublord.

Finally I would like to mention that Guruji has used the RPs for various purposes and not in a restrictive manner. The ruling planets usage is the master key to the KP and Guruji has also used it
even for conformation of the past events (A&A Dec. 1968 P.31- Horoscopy..). There are very divergent views on the RP usage among KP followers.
