December 2015 Week 51 - Elizabeth Macarthur High School
Elizabeth Macarthur High School
Issue 8—December 2015
Respect, Responsibility, Pride
Outstanding HSC results this year:
This year our Year 12 students achieved 34 Band 6s and 91Band 5s. This is an incredible achievement for
our school. Many of our Year 12 students had already gained early entry into university but these results
show that the universities were lucky to grab them early before the results came in. Special congratulations
to our school captain Elyse Strahan who got an ATAR of 96.8 with 6 Band 6s. One for every subject she
studied. These results also put us over state average in our overall HSC results.
Congratulations Year 12 on a wonderful result and we wish you every success in your future endeavours.
As the 2015 school year draws to a close, can I thank all the parents for their continued support of our
school. We have had a wonderful sports presentation night where over 200 people attended to celebrate
the achievements of our sports men and woman. They are so talented that we also won 3 Blues Awards
this year.
We also had a very impressive presentation day where over 200 students were awarded with an
achievement award for academics and citizenship.
This year our Year 6 into 7 Orientation Day was highly successful and both the 350 year 5 students and
200 year 6 students from local feeder primary schools had a wonderful day and spoke highly of the day.
All of this has been ably led by our wonderful student leadership team, pictured.
Captains: Nicholas Leech and Emma Moore
Vice captains – Joshua Costlow and Antonia
Cucek
Senior Prefects- Jarryd Guy and Dokata
Simonds.
Wishing you all a very happy and safe Christmas
and we will see Years 7,11, 12 back on January
28th and Years 8,9,10 back on January 29th.
The uniform shop will be open the week before
we come back to school every day to assist with
uniform purchases. You can also purchase on line
through our website.

From the Office
Nova Employment Awards—2015
It has been a very busy year no different to any other
year but I think the years are flying faster.
In the last few weeks we have had Yr. 6 into 7 Orientation
and Presentation Day I wish to thank all the SASS for
their commitment to ensure these events ran effortless.
We sadly say farewell to Mrs Gammage, Mrs Putvinas
and Mrs Browne, SAS staff members that are entering
into a new phase in their life’s ‘Retirement” - we wish
them well.
This has been my first full year here at EMHS it has been
a learning curve for me as most of my time with the
Department has been in Primary Schools. I can say I
have enjoyed this challenge.
We wish everyone a wonderful Christmas, and a safe &
happy new year.

Year 7 had a Spanish Cooking Incursion on the 27th November. They made Spanish Style Albondigas (Meat balls)
and had these with Mexican style corn chips.
The students took turns in the cooking process and each had a go at participating in every stage of making the meat
balls.
They behaved really well and were really engaged with the whole cooking
experience. The day was highly successful and the Chef was really pleased at how our students worked together.
This was a great and new way of cooking within the school and everyone involved had a fantastic time.
Well done to the year 7 Spanish students who participated in this innovative and exciting experience.
Feliz Navidad!
