Mission Statement
St. Frances Cabrini Church is a Roman Catholic
parish community with ethnic diversity. Our central
focus is the Eucharist from which all aspects of
parish life emanate. Being a Spirit filled, prayerful
and proactive parish, we foster Christian family life,
evangelization, and the spiritual nourishment of all
parishioners, both young and old. We endeavor to
follow the example of St. Frances Cabrini and
attend to all God's children in their temporal and
spiritual needs in order to alleviate their suffering.
We do all in the name of Jesus who is Lord and
Savior of us all.
Our parish enjoys a rainbow of activities
for all ages in Liturgy and in Service. If
you wish to join or volunteer, please
contact the rectory.

Baptism of the Lord Sunday, January 10
Is 40: 1-5, 9-11(C) or Is 42: 1-4, 6-7(ABC) Ps. 104: 1b –2b-2,3-4, 24-25, 27-28,29-30 (C) or Ps 29: 1-2 , 3-4,
3,9-10 (ABC) Ti 2:11-14:3:4-7© or Acts 10:34-38 (ABC) Lk 3:15-16, 21-22
Today’s feast marks the transition from the Christmas season to Ordinary Time . Today, for the first time
since Christmas Day, we encounter an adult Christ.
Originally spoken to the exiles it Babylon , the text from Isaiah announces good news: God’s imminent
redemption of the people and an end to their exile. “ In the desert,” the prophet commands , “ prepare the way of
the Lord!” (v3)The earth is to be prepared for God’s coming , so the prophet speaks of a transformation in which
“every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill shall be made low” (v4) , for “the glory of the LORD
shall be revealed”(v5).
In the letter to Titus we hear that “when the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared …, he
saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit”(3:4-5). This is “ not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy”(v5). Our salvation is a gift from God; it is not the fruit of our
labors . And through it we have “become heirs in hope of eternal life”(vv7). Through the gift of God’s Son , we
have become God’s sons and daughters.
The “expectation” (V 15) of the people in John the Baptist’s day was based on God’s promise over the
Centuries to send a Messiah. John denies that he is the Messiah and prophesies that “ one mightier than I is coming … He will baptize you with Holy Spirit and fire”(v 16). The crowd does not have to wait long , for Jesus
Appears and is baptized, after which “ the Holy Spirit descended him in bodily form” (v22). And a heavenly
voice declares him “my beloved Son” (V22 ). Thus the story of salvation enters a new chapter as the Messiah is
revealed to the people.
For Reflection: In my spirituality , am I more comfortable with Jesus as a child or
as an adult? How is the “fire” of baptism lived out in my own vocation?
If you are bored or lonely and would like to meet new people come on down to the Parish
hall of St Frances Cabrini. St Frances Senior Club Started in 1995 and has continued to
help the parish grow. Our meeting are on Wednesday and the doors open at 10 o’clock. Just
bring a mug or tea cup and enjoy a cup of coffee or a cup of tea and meet and mingle with
other people in their senior years.l
The meeting starts at 11:30 and after the meeting you can enjoy bingo, cards , left right
center, or start a game of your own . All for a dollar. We have pizza and ice cream parries, a
Christmas lunch and a picnic in June to close out the year. There are day trips and we are
always open to new suggestions. Birthday are celebrated monthly with $5 for each person in
that month according to your attendance at the meetings. We have a 50/50 drawing each as
well a door prize that you can $5.
Where else can you spend so little and get so much and so close to home. Hope o see you
soon!

SOCIAL MINISTRY HAPPENINGS
On the week before Christmas
From noon to the eve
The people kept coming
For gifts to receive.
The parents were joyful
Their treasure in hand
The children they loved
Will now understand
For Christmas is magic
And Christmas is fun
But Christmas is sad
For those who have none.
But all of these children
Will have joy with our measure
For you have provided
Each one with a special treasure
This was written especially for every one who helped make this Christmas come
true.
May God Bless you and your families
