Celebrating 30 Years!
Danatec Educational Services Ltd.
Our story
This year, 2015, Danatec celebrates 30 years in business. What a journey
we’ve had. It’s been full of ups and downs, product success, joyous occasions
and heartbreaking events. We’ve won many awards along the way and we’ve
had our fair share of trials and tribulations too. We consistently grow with
our unrelenting passion, our drive for change and our ability to be resilient.
We are proud of the exceptional business we’ve built and appreciative of the
customers we work with.
Today Danatec’s head office is still located in Calgary, Alberta and we are still
a privately held, family-run organization. The next 30 years I'm certain will be
different, yet the core values of Danatec will remain the same. Last year we
formed Danatec Gives, www.DanatecGives.org, as part of our initiative to
give to give back to the community. We are a company that lives by one very
simple rule: people first, everything else second. The next time you are in
Calgary, stop by and see what’s new at Danatec.
Thank you to our customers, our suppliers and our friends who have made
this exceptional journey so rewarding.

Workplace Hazardous Materials
Information System (WHMIS & HAZCOM)
What you need to know now
What is the Globally Harmonized System (GHS)?
How will GHS change WHMIS?
GHS stands for the Globally Harmonized System of
Classification and Labelling of Chemicals and is a
system that defines and classifies the hazards of
chemical products and communicates health and safety
information on labels and material safety data sheets
(called Safety Data Sheets, or SDSs, in GHS).
Overall, the current roles and responsibilities for
suppliers, employers and workers likely will not change
in WHMIS after GHS. Employers must continue to:
What is the target date for implementation
of GHS?
• Prepare workplace labels and SDSs as necessary.
The proposed Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR),
which will replace the Controlled Products Regulations,
were published in the Canada Gazette Part I in August
2014, followed by a consultation period. Final regulations
are expected to be published in Canada Gazette Part II
in late 2014 or early 2015. Health Canada’s goal is to
have the updated WHMIS laws in force by June 2015.
• Ensure appropriate control measures are in place
to protect the health and safety of workers.
• Educate and train workers on the hazards and safe
use of products.
• Ensure that hazardous materials are properly labelled.
• Provide access for workers to up-to-date SDSs.
Will Danatec’s WHMIS product line be ready
for GHS?
Yes. Danatec’s WHMIS product line now includes
supplemental information on GHS which helps
employees recognize and understand new Symbols,
Standard Words and Phrases as well as different
MSDS formats (SDS) they may start seeing before
full implementation in Canada. GHS will be
implemented when the Hazardous Products
Regulations (HPR) are published in Gazette II
with Danatec’s new GHS WHMIS product line
available shortly thereafter.

Dangerous Goods Placards
Placards are displayed on vehicles and tanks to identify the risk of products
being transported. Our entire placard line is manufactured to meet Transport
Canada Guidelines. Placards are offered in three different materials:
Tagboard: Placards are made from a semi-rigid paper card stock with a water resistant
coating on both sides. This material is intended for single trip usage, at an economical
price. Intended for use with placard holders.
2
Plastic: Placards are made with a long lasting plastic that will withstand many repeated
uses in any weather. The printing is done using a silk screen process to ensure the print
quality and resist fading. Intended for use with placard holders.
Adhesive Vinyl: Placards are intended for permanent application on the transport vehicle.
They are constructed with an outdoor grade 4-MIL vinyl with an aggressive permanent
adhesive backing. Once applied these placards provide a permanent TDG marking solution.
TDG Shipping Labels 4" x 4" (100mm x 100mm)
Shipping labels are essential for packages that contain dangerous goods. Labels are available
in two materials, paper for indoor applications and vinyl for extended outdoor usage. All
Shipping Labels are manufactured to Transport Canada specifications with fade resistant inks.
Aluminum Placard Holders
Aluminum Placard holders have 10 pre-drilled mounting holes for ease of installation and a
stainless steel clip ensures longevity even in worst conditions. Holder has a formed ramp at
the clip to guide placards easily over the clip during removal. Back plate has several raised
bumps that keep plastic placards from becoming stuck in the holder during winter weather.
Pre-Numbered UN Placards
We also stock a select number of pre-printed UN numbered placards for your specific
transportation compliance needs. Please contact the office for available stock.

Ground Disturbance Online Training
Product Code 9197
This online program was built on the success and content of the current Global Training
Centre Ground Disturbance Level II® standardized program. In our opinion this online
program provides all the content of the Ground Disturbance Level II® plus the benefit of some
additional information. We are confident that upon assessment by your company this online
program would be deemed equivalent in content.
$94.95 US
$94.95 CND
It is designed for any party that is supervising a ground disturbance, independently
performing a ground disturbance or issuing and receiving ground disturbance permits. The
program ensures that personnel are familiar with, and fully understand, all the regulations
and variances involved when a ground disturbance takes place.
This course is presented in a logical sequence – from the pre-planning stage to the actual
dig. Participants learn how to clarify sources when searching for underground facilities,
provide notification to the facility owner and receive owner notification. Participants gain an
understanding of the necessary approvals/crossing agreements and regulations necessary
before creating a ground disturbance. They learn to create a plot plan/site drawing, gain an
understanding of line locating and learn about types of exposure. Participants will also learn
how to do a back-fill inspection, as well as how to use permits and conduct pre-job meetings.
Emergency response plans and what to do in case an underground facility is contacted are
also covered.
Course content includes embedded video, interactive learning exercises, competency
quiz questions, all Provincial Legislation across Canada and a final exam. Upon successful
completion students will be issued a training certificate valid for three (3) years.
Danatec’s premium Ground Disturbance Supervisory online training program
is currently under Stage 1 review process by the ABCGA 201 Training Standards
Committee. Our program maintains equivalent course content and delivery
requirements of the ABCGA Ground Disturbance -201 Supervisor Training
Standard. http://www.albertacga.ca/
