Creating PDF Files from Quark Xpress

2. Export
3. Layout as PDF
4. Go to PDF Style Options Pages Section:
If pages are set up side by side and you want them printed that way, select spreads
Compression Section:
All Compression set to zip or none
Resolutions set to 300, 300 and 1200
Color Section:
Mode: select Composite
Setup: if document is only black, check Grayscale
if document is all color, check Composite CMYK
if document uses any pantone (specific) colors, check As Is
Fonts Section:
Check box stating Select All
Marks Section:
Mode: select Centered
Bleed Section:
Bleed Type: select Symmetrical
Amount: set to .25”
Check box stating Clip at Bleed Edge
5. Ok
6. Save

1. File
2. Export
3. Save file to destination desired
4. Save
PDF Saving Options At the very top, change Adobe PDF Preset setting to High Quality Print
General Section:

Compression: set to zip or none
Check both boxes at bottom
Marks and Bleed Section:
Check All Printer’s Marks or just select Crop Marks
Set Bleed boxes to .25”
Output Section:
Color Conversion: if document is CMYK, select Convert to Destination and change Destination to U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) V2
If document uses pantone (specific) colors, select No Color Conversion

4. Save
PDF Saving Options At the very top, change Adobe PDF Preset setting to High Quality Print
Compression Section:
Boxes for Grayscale and Color Bitmap Images should be set to Bicubic Downsampling to 300 for images above 450, Monochrome Images should be set to Bicubic Downsampling to 1200 for images over 1800
Compression: set to zip or none
Check box at bottom
Marks and Bleeds Section:
Check Trim Marks
Set Bleed boxes to .25”
Output Section:
Color Conversion: if document is CMYK, select Convert to Destination and change Destination to U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) V2
If document uses pantone (specific) colors, select No Color Conversion

3. Format: select Photoshop PDF
4. Check box stating Embed Color Profile: (U.S. Web Coated...)
5. Save
PDF Saving Options At the very top, change Adobe PDF Preset setting to High Quality Print
