WELCOME
To our friends and supporters,
sinking a hole-in-one on the 11th hole. Finally, in addition to the new
challenges Bearpath will pose, you’ll have the opportunity to “Beat the
Pro,” testing your game against Brad Denton on the 13th hole.
We are all very excited for the 5th year of our Summit Academy
Golf Classic. Each year, planning for the tournament starts with a
simple mission: to bring friends and supporters of Summit
Academy OIC together for a great day of golf and giving in
support of one of our community’s most important job- and lifeskills training agencies.
After golf, we have an excellent program planned for the Champion’s
Reception Dinner. Make sure to invite your spouse for food, fun and
entertainment. We’ll wrap up silent auction bidding, then KFAN’s Jeff
Dubay takes the podium to celebrate the day’s winners and most ‘notable’
performances. Jeff will then turn things over to our friend Karen Sorbo —
Minnesota’s greatest auctioneer — who will present a limited number of
This year, you are in for another world-class day of golf and
entertainment: plan on coming early to see Paul Allen and Jeff
Dubay from KFAN — or tune in to AM 1130 on the way to the
tournament. P. A. & Dubay will be hosting their show live from
Bearpath from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Start your golf day with a pre-
exclusive auction items. This year’s hot new items include a once-in-alifetime chance to play at Sutton Bay golf course with the father and son
team of Larry and Gordon Hendrickson, a special Spalon Montage
package including limo service, and a private Minnesota Vikings suite for
you and your friends — so be sure to stick around!
round tune-up at 9:45 on the range with Bearpath’s golf pros.
After you’ve dropped your handicap and learned a thing or two,
be sure to check out one of the game’s most amazing trick shot
artists, Brad Denton, at 11:00. He can hit a golf ball further onehanded and blindfolded with his putter than most of us will today
with our drivers. A barbeque lunch will be served along the driving
range at 11:45, and then the fun really begins.
I’d like to make special mention of Larry Hendrickson and the founding
members of the golf committee. Five years ago, they had the idea that a
day of golf could help raise awareness and money to support the staff,
students and good work of Summit Academy. Today, this golf event helps
to sustain and strengthen the programs Summit Academy offers to give its
students a foundation for real success. On behalf of this year’s event
committee, thank you for joining us today!
We’ll take to our carts at 12:30 for the 1:00 shotgun start. To
make sure you are fully hydrated and protected, Spalon Montage
Cheers,
will be providing spritzers and suntan lotion on the 6th hole. On
the 10th hole, a team of massage therapists will make sure all the
aches and pains are worked out so there are no excuses. You’ll get
a shot at the ultimate gimme, driving home a 2008 Audi TT for

18 championship holes out of the dramatic landforms of the Missouri River breaks
in South Dakota. Hosted by Larry and Gordon Hendrickson, the package includes
round-trip transportation from the Twin Cities in a private airplane, two rounds
of golf for four, lodging at Sutton Bay and meals.

If it weren’t for T&C, there wouldn’t be golf in Minnesota. Come play the
second-oldest golf course on its original layout in the country (behind
Shinnecock, in case you were wondering). T&C is a pure shotmaker’s course —
tight, rolling terrain and rewarding of smart play. And although the folks at
Minikahda may disagree, in addition to being the birthplace of golf in Minnesota,
T&C also is rumored to be the birthplace of the Bootleg.

students who would like to attend the program after school are unable
to because they do not have transportation home. QOP operates out
of North Community High School, where public school budget cuts
have eliminated after-school activity buses. To get home, students will
either walk or ride public transportation – both of which are
becoming increasingly dangerous options. Summit Academy asks for
