EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Chairman of the Board Jeff Wright ‐ Walmart Vice Chairman Trish Henry ‐ Russellville Steel Co. Immediate Past Chairman Dr. Leonard Notto ‐ Notto Chiropractic Health Notes from the President From time to time I still get asked “just what
does the Arkansas Valley Alliance do?” So, since I
serve as the President of the Alliance I would like
to tell each of you a little more about the organization, our mission and our positive impact on our
communities.
A
Treasurer Todd Sweeden ‐ Sweeden Florist At Large Seth Coulter ‐ Coulter Physical Therapy At Large Gregg Long ‐ Crafton Tull At Large The organization was formed in 1996 as the Russellville Economic
Development Partnership, Inc. (REDPI). The name was later
changed to the Arkansas Valley Alliance for Economic Development, Inc.
Todd Meimerstorf ‐ Arvest Bank The two main missions of the Alliance are to recruit new industry
to the area and to do everything possible to assist our existing industries with expansion opportunities and secure those projects
locally. The results of our recruiting efforts speak for themselves…
10 new companies creating 868 new full-time jobs. But even more
impressive are the results of our work with existing manufacturers.
The Alliance has assisted local industries with 48 industrial expansion projects. These expansion projects have created 2,518 new
full-time jobs and brought about the investment of hundreds of millions of dollars in our community.
Barton Allen || First State Bank A
Scott Hill || Simmons First Bank Since 1997, the River Valley Region has received $5,076,939 in
grants as a direct result of the Alliance’s involvement. 100% of this
money has been invested in the River Valley.
a
Our success would not be possible without the support of local
governments and businesses. The communities of Atkins, Dardanelle, Pottsville and Russellville as well as Pope and Yell Counties
are all involved in our recruiting efforts and provide funding for the
Alliance. Additionally, the Alliance has over 40 dues paying members from the business community. Let’s not overlook the contributions made by the forty-five or so major manufacturers employing over 8,000 people in the River Valley Region. We are sincerely
thankful for your continued support in securing a prosperous future
for the area.

Citizen of the Year Nominations
There are many citizens of Russellville that go above all expectations in making this an exceptional city. Naming the Citizen of the Year is only one way to recognize and honor one of
these outstanding citizens. The Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce will be recognizing the
2012 Citizen of the Year at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting. Nominations will be accepted at the
Chamber office through December 14, 2012.
Nominees must be a resident of the Russellville area for at least the past five years. Nominations
must be accompanied with a résumé stating the reason for the nomination and the community
contributions of the nominee, or they will not be considered.
Community involvement should not be limited to one field and must include areas other
than those related to the nominee’s occupation. Past contributions will be considered, but the
nominee should still be a viable part of the community and serving in a leadership role, not just a
part of a committee or group. The person making the nomination must also include his or her
name and daytime phone number in case additional information is required.
Richard Spear was
recognized as the
2011 Citizen of the Year.

ville most of her life. We are pleased to recognize Kylia for her commitment to the Chamber and the River Valley Community! Q.
Tell us your most memorable experience as a Red Coat? A.
I think the most memorable moment was actu‐
ally being asked to be a Red Coat, and then, getting that first member. It’s exciting to be a part of such a great group of people willing to give their time to the betterment of our community. Q. What makes you want to be a Red Coat and what makes a good Red Coat? A.
lent opportunity to serve the community in ways that aren’t in our normal, everyday schedule. I enjoy being able to meet new peo‐
ple and being an extra connection between the Chamber and our community. I think the dedication to growing our Chamber, businesses, and investing in our community makes the Red Coat Committee an exemplary group of community leaders. Q.
Q.
A.
A.
What do you think is the River Valley’s biggest asset? There are a great deal of wonderful assets in this community, but I believe the greatest asset is the peo‐
ple. The people that make up our businesses and in‐
dustry, our local government, our community, and our friends and family. Being a Red Coat is an excel‐
In your judgment, what are two pressing problems facing the River Valley today? There is always a pressing need for employment and opportunities for our youth. The more that we invest in our youth, the more we invest in our future.
