TREK THE MAGNIFICENT
LAND OF ICE AND SNOW
The forbidding region far north of the Arctic Circle offers some
of the world’s most spectacular hunting experiences.
The largest land carnivore, the polar bear, prowls along the northern ocean.
The chance to hunt this predator tops the list of many big game hunters.
It’s a true Arctic experience. Travel is by dogsled on land and sea ice.
Trips can last up to two weeks as you camp with Inuvialuit guides. In spring
the muskox hunt is in full gear. Hunters travel by snowmobile, boat or allterrain vehicle to locate the quarry. Bands of Muskox are then stalked on
foot, in the company of your experienced guide.

Quick moving Dall’s sheep and elusive mountain goats offer
a great hunting challenge.
These snow-white monarchs of the peaks can spot you a long way off,
and will take advantage of their speed and sure-footedness to find haven
out of range. Alpine hunting adventures begin in late summer with a bush
plane flight from Norman Wells or Fort Simpson into your well-equipped,
comfortable base camp in the pristine, uninhabited foothills. You’ll head
up to sheep country on foot or horseback, guided by your experienced
outfitters. The Mackenzie Mountains are also home to mountain caribou
and moose, which provide additional challenges to intrepid hunters.
