Nominating Committee Each year the congregation (in partnership with the Congregational Nominating Committee) enjoys the privilege of electing a new class of church leaders from the membership. Potential nominees for deacon and elder may be recommended using the forms located on the fellowship tables. July and August Food Collection Food Collection this month is for the Fauquier Family Shelter Items currently most needed: Cereal Granola bars Fruit bars Juice boxes (for kids) Toilet paper Kleenex Paper towels Thank you for sharing with those in need in our community! The Greenwich Garden WE ARE HARVESTING! The total number of pounds of cucumbers, green peppers, yellow squash and zucchini is 1760 pounds so far! There is a sign-up sheet posted on the Local Missions bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall so that if we do not already have you on our e-mail list, we can add your name and be sure you are informed as to happenings at the garden. We invite you to join us, if even for a short while. Many hands help the work go by quickly. Also, if anyone has a tent that we can use, it would be appreciated - the winds from recent storms were not kind to the one we have. We are excited to see God's blessings on our endeavors. The need is great. -The Garden Committee Plant a Row for the Hungry Calling all gardeners. Plant-A-Row for the Hungry is in full swing. Have a garden at home? Do you have an extra row of plants producing a harvest of vegetables? Plant a Row for the Hungry is collecting fresh produce each Sunday thru midOctober and would like to share with our local food banks. The Plant-A-Row team at Greenwich thanks you for your support. Psalm 146: 5-7 Blessed is he whose help is in the Lord God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God , the maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them, the Lord who remains faithful forever. He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. Rooted & Growing: Building Update Good weather enabled work to move forward very efficiently in June. This month, we will really see the building take shape as wall studs, insulation, steel trusses, and roof sheathing are being completed. These are exciting days for our church family! In an effort to show Christ’s love in a practical way, we are providing snacks every day for the construction crews working on the project. We invite everyone to donate non-perishable snack items (granola bars, beef jerky, chips, etc.) and drop them by the office. We want every worker to know they are appreciated! Please continue to pray for the safety and welfare of all who are on site as they work. Pray: For God’s favor upon the building project and the safety of the work crews. “To him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church through all generations!” Eph. 3:20-21 2014 Financial Summary (YTD thru May 31, 2014) YTD Income $320,257 YTD Expense $343,727 Budgeted Expense $365,605 Building Fund (YTD thru May 31, 2014) YTD Income $137,459 YTD Expenses $362,913 Current Fund Bal. $611,411 Save the Date for our Monthly Discipleship Gathering and All Church Ice Cream Social Sunday, July 27th 6:00pm in the Sanctuary & 7:00 pm Ice Cream Social in the Fellowship Hall Packets will be available on info tables or church website: discipleship.greenwichpres.org For the Discipleship Gathering, we will have a Children’s Program. Vacation Bible School: A Big THANK YOU to all that lead and served Vacation Bible School is an awesome experience for our church family and an opportunity for us all to grow more on our faith journey together. Greenwich was blessed with another wonderful week of sharing together in God’s Word with willing and capable volunteers, who graciously gave of their time and talents. I’d like to sincerely thank the more than 50 adult & youth volunteers who helped in some waycooking, serving, leading, teaching, singing, praying, playing, caring for babies, etc. Thank you for sharing the love of Christ with these children! God blesses each of us with talents and abilities. Volunteering is a way God's work is accomplished with our hands and hearts. When we serve together, we build relationships that create a broader and stronger community. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.
