2009-10 ANNUAL REPORT TO OUR DONORS As I reflect on the past fiscal year, I am very grateful. The spirit of caring for which St.Vincent is noted is apparent at every meeting I attend, every patient I visit and every event that is undertaken. In many ways it is remarkable and wonderful that an organization has not changed its mission or its focus in nearly 130 years – serving the The 2009 Saks Fifth Avenue Key to the Cure benefits St.Vincent women’s cancers programs. The spirit of caring means that our focus is always on our patients – body, mind and spirit. Donors to St.Vincent through the St.Vincent Foundation help us carry on the spirit of caring through generous contributions to programs, education, technology, research and other areas that positively impact those we serve. Even St.Vincent patients join in the spirit of caring when they praise and thank our caregivers for the excellent level of care and compassion they and their families have received. I am also grateful for all the accomplishments of 2009-10 we have to celebrate! * We surpassed our budgeted fundraising goal! * We received a grant from USA Funds to hire a full time teacher who will work with Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent patients to ensure their One local Girl Scout troop continued learning during treatment and to work with teachers of patients to make donated toys for Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital transitions back to the classroom easier. during Trick or Treat for Kids off Their Feet. * We received grants from the Glick Foundation and the Clowes Fund to hire an Art Therapist for Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent to help pediatric patients work through their fears and emotions during cancer treatments and hospitalizations. * A campaign to raise funds to renovate St.Vincent Hospice culminated in a blessing ceremony in June resulting in updated patient rooms and family areas. * In September, the inaugural 2-day, 38 mile walk, the Weekend to End Breast Cancer, brought the community together and raised money for St.Vincent women’s cancer programs. The 2009 St.Vincent New Hope Golf Outing foursome from Bradley & Associates, Inc. took first place. The outing raises money to support services for individuals with developmental disabilities and abused and neglected children. * Our trilogy of events – Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital Celebration of Caring Gala, St.Vincent New Hope Golf Outing and Saks Fifth Avenue Key to the Cure – combined to raise over $1 million for the St.Vincent Foundation. Thank you for your continued support of St.Vincent. Our combined efforts, gifts and talents have created a successful year!
