Pure virgin cellulose
In our main market segments, the prevailing demand is for products in pure cellulose and our strategy
for approaching these markets could therefore not set this fact aside.
For that reason, we have committed ourselves over the years to setting up the technology and
know-how needed to better exploit the opportunities coming from an accurate selection and mixture of
different types of virgin fibres available on the market. This allows us today to manufacture papers in
pure cellulose enhancing at most quality features like softness, absorbency, resistance and printability.

De-inked paper
We all know that cellulose fibres come from wood, but very often we forget that those fibres can
be re-used several times to produce new papers. The advantages coming from paper recycling are
obvious: forest protection, water and energy savings, recovery of materials that would otherwise
be lost forever. However the majority of the end-users is not prepared to accept, for an ecological
product, a lower quality.
To this, we have answered in the only possible way: to use a leading technology for the treatment
of waste papers, to allow our ecological papers to have, relatively to the product to which they’re
destined, a quality, softness, absorbency, runnability and whiteness degree, equivalent to those
produced with virgin cellulose fibres.
The regeneration process of recycled fibres takes place by treating waste papers through several
phases finalized to the physical separation of all the impurities (inks, glues, coatings, plastics, metals,
etc.). The process doesn’t use polluting substances, like chlorine for example. Furthermore, to grant
the product’s hygiene and cleanliness, the mixture of water and waste paper is heated at more than
100°C and treated with hydrogen peroxide.
Independently of the type of raw material, the whole of our production takes place without our losing
sight of the need of controlling and reducing the impact on the environment: waste waters are
reused several times and before being discharged they’re purified by biological treatment plants;
the major part of the energy and all the steam used during the production cycle are self-produced
by co-generation gas turbine systems.

The Cartiera Lucchese Group has three factories with a total area of more than 630,000 m2, two of
which are in Italy in the Province of Lucca, while the third is in France, in Troyes in the Region of
Champagne-Ardenne.

Porcari plant. 113,000 m2
The Porcari (Lucca) plant mainly produces MG paper for flexible
packaging. Here there are three machines and several converting lines
for producing waxed paper, tablecloths and table mats.
Diecimo plant. 243,000 m2
The Diecimo (Lucca) plant is used for producing and converting tissue
paper. There are three paper machines and twenty converting lines
with which we make toilet paper, all-purpose paper towels, napkins,
handkerchiefs, medical sheets, wipers, etc. The factory has an internal
railway junction.
Troyes plant. 276,000 m2
This is situated in the Region of Champagne-Ardenne and, like
the Diecimo plant, is used to produce and convert tissue paper.
It has one paper machine and five converting lines for toilet paper,
all-purpose towels and industrial cloths. This plant also has an internal
railway junction.
