Celebrating an award-winning
model home
To showcase this award-winning abode,
Aspen Ridge played host to a large
gathering of family and friends. They
came together to enjoy the beauty of the
new space, infusing great food with even
greater ambiance. With a gourmet food
sampling from Catering By Sandro, the
large kitchen was a happy cluster with
over 100 guests who enjoyed the hors

Celebrating an award-winning model home.
The new man cave A recent shift in the culture of cooking has marked a new trend – more men in the kitchen. With
the culinary spotlight currently focused on a more masculine approach to cuisine, celebrity chefs are taking centre stage and
making the cut. Chefs such as Jamie Oliver, Anthony Bourdain, Bobby Flay and Gordon Ramsey have all made names for
themselves as culinary gurus, each bringing their own unique spin to the entertainment value of cooking. Whether it’s informing
the world about the benefits of healthier eating or revealing ‘kitchen nightmares’ to wincing viewers, the male perspective is
becoming increasingly present in popular culture. Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances Modern family life swirls around
today’s kitchen. It’s only fitting that these masterful meeting places of culinary arts and conversation should be outfitted with
the most premium kitchen appliances in the world, including Sub-Zero’s world-renowned refrigeration and wine storage units
and Wolf’s famous cooking instruments. Irpinia

When building a new
home, you can choose
standard finishes or opt
for upgrades that can be
done by your builder. Of
course, there is a cost
attached to this. So if
affordability is an issue,
you may be wondering
what upgrades make
sense to do during the
construction process with
your builder and which
ones can be left until later
on after you’ve moved in?
Some upgrades you may
consider when turning a new
house into your home may
include kitchen cabinet
upgrades. Of course there are
some changes you can easily
do yourself. Painting and
aesthetic decorating touches
make for great weekend reno
projects, where sips of wine
and good conversation can
intermix with brush strokes
and paint chips.

Flooring: Upgrading to a higher
quality of hardwood or carpet is a
great way to create a more luxurious
space as well as add to the overall
value of your home. Better quality
flooring lasts longer, is more resistant
to wear and tear, and will continue to
look beautiful for you long after the
initial installation.

Tile upgrades:
One of the top recommendations for
adding value to your house is upgrading
your kitchen. Adding a tiled backsplash
adds character and functionality. A
glazed or tiled surface is much easier to
clean than a painted surface, meaning
your pasta sauce experiments in the
kitchen do not have to leave lasting
marks. Upgrading your flooring to
oversized terracotta tiles, as large as 24"
x 24", evokes a Mediterranean
ambience and feels fabulous on the feet.
Macleod’s Landing
Smooth ceilings: Upgrading to a
smooth ceiling finish adds to the overall
aesthetic and allows for endless lighting
possibilities, such as pot lights which
illuminate from above. Smooth ceilings
also offer a much easier application
process for finishes like coffered ceilings
or intricate moulding details. Another
benefit? The ability to easily repaint the
ceiling, so you can stay fresh and current
with all the décor trends whether it’s
Tudor-style opulence or modern,
bold stripes.
Macleod’s Landing
Large, frameless showers:
Love a shower that has enough room
for you to move freely without knocking
over all of your soaps, conditioners and
creams? Consult with us on how we
can upgrade your shower size, creating
a space that allows you to do more
than just lather, rinse and repeat.

New Oak Ridges
Community Centre
The new Kettle Lakes Club on Bayview is the first low-rise, ultra modern townhome
community Aspen Ridge has ever built. The contemporary design concept was actually
inspired by one of our neighbours. A pretty significant neighbour as a matter of fact, and that
would be the spectacular new Oak Ridges Community Centre located right across
the street.
Our Aspen Ridge architects wanted Kettle Lakes Club to echo the sleek, contemporary
lines of this magnificent complex so that two would blend harmoniously together to create
the welcoming warmth of a country club community.
With its incredible six-lane leisure pool, water slide, daycare, ecological centre, gym and
huge array of family activities, the new Oak Ridges Community Centre is certain to become
a fond favourite for all Kettle Lakes Club residents. Located at 12895 Bayview Avenue.

Season’s Gathering
Entertaining tips for fall
The leaves are changing. The weather is cooling.
With autumn approaching, it’s a good time to get
ready for one of our favourite perks of the season – fall
festivities. From Halloween to Thanksgiving, here are
some entertaining essentials to keep your parties
seasonally sound!
• Centrepieces that sizzle: Colourful and full of texture,
bring autumn’s charm to your dinner table by using
some of the season’s freshest finds, like legumes, as
decor.
• Luxe linens: With summer prints awash with bright, fall
allows you to go bold with table linens that are deep in
colour and rich in texture.
• Rustic recipes: Cozy cocktails, fall fondue, hearty
appetizers; the season is all about bringing back
warmth and richness to the menu.
• Woven together: Keep festive foods like apples,
legumes and roasted walnuts in baskets around your
home. These treats add flavour to both the space and
guest’s taste buds.

Markham’s most popular address
S

Upper Cornell is no exception. Within these communities, children are
raised, neighbours become friends, memories are made and families
thrive. This is the culture of community. This is the culture of Upper Cornell.
Cornell is heritage-inspired living in a place famous for its block parties and Canada
Day celebrations. It's where you can leave the car at home and a short walk to the
store takes a little longer because of the number of times you stop to chat along
the way. Family-friendly parks and schools are all nearby, and a vibrant town square
brings the community together in an easy-to-access location.
Our planners call the community design "new urbanism." We simply call it wonderful.

Blueprint 101
Ever draw a blank when looking at the diagrams and dimensions
that make up a floor plan? This quick overview will help you
better understand the interior and exterior drawings for your new
home. Lesson number one: measure out room sizes at a park or
open field with white tape to see the exact sizes of the rooms in
your new home! Even take a photocopy of the floor plan and start
to play around with furniture placement – the options are endless!
This quick overview will help you connect the dots when it comes
to understanding the interior and exterior drawings for your new
home. Consider this your crash course in Blueprint 101.

also be sure to determine which

Listed on every floor plan are the corresponding

creating a list of room dimensions that you

When looking at a blueprint, map out
every closet and pantry. Also, scout

shelves are located in areas that would
require extra storage space.

Take a mental walk through the
