Vaclav and Lena meet as children in an ESL class. Vaclav is precocious
and verbal; Lena, struggling with English takes comfort in the safety
of his adoration and his noisy, loving home. Then, Lena disappears
from his life. Readers of “Major Pettigrew’s last Stand” will enjoy this
book.
AUG. 8 “Winged Obsessions: the Pursuit of the World’s Most
Notorious Butterfly Smuggler” by Jessica Speart
This fascinating glimpse into the illegal market in exotic and
endangered butterflies will have you rooting for creatures you didn’t
know existed before reading this book.
SEPT. 12 “Stone Mattress: Nine Tales” by Margaret Atwood

At this age, science content becomes more focused, and at school, the
structure of formal education sometimes does not permit individual
students to explore their interests in a way that best suits their learning
style. Our camps provide a suite of highly-interactive and engaging
sessions that are designed to help students delve into a topic of interest
in an informal, hands-on environment.

Research shows that when it comes to science and math, we tend

and ignite that scientific spark.
