responded with “Words of Burning Eloquence” to
survivors of the 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, which
was his military unit during his service in the Civil
War. The visit to his home during his Front Porch
Campaign brought him “special gratification,” The
Evening Repository said.

Massillon continued to hold its record for
having the lowest death rate of any city in Ohio,
with just 12 in June and 15 in July, counting only
two deaths of children under 5 with neither
death due to heat or sanitary conditions.
Iggy Katona and Keith Ploughe were among the
drivers at Canton Motor Speedway this weekend who were gunning for the $3,000 purse.
Canton Police said they thought it could be a
teen responsible for burglarizing the houses
between 15th and 28th streets, on either side of
Market Avenue N, following the apprehension
of a suspect at a recent break-in.
