IT’S LEGENDAIRY! is the 2015 National Balloon Classic theme.
An appropriate title for a time honored tradition. Since 1989, the
National Balloon Classic has been one the largest hot air balloon events
in Iowa. Each summer, around 100 balloons ascend upon the 150acre National Balloon Classic Memorial Balloon Field east of Indianola
to showcase their spectacular beauty including special shapes. Iowa
skies come alive as pilots use their master skills to compete for cash
and prizes while wowing spectators below.
While hot air balloons are the stars of the show, all nine days of the
event are filled with outstanding entertainment and non-stop family
fun. Live bands on the Classic Stage, Nite Glows, morning Dawn
Patrols, Kids Land Activities, fabulous food offerings, and so much
more. Feeling adventurous? There is no better way to experience the
National Balloon Classic than in the air. Purchase a balloon ride for the
ultimate, one-of-a-kind view.

Balloon Classic are dependent on prevailing weather conditions
and subject to weather delays or cancellations. The safety of
our pilots, volunteers, and spectators is our primary concern.
Purchased tickets may be used on any day during the 2015

opportunity for an up close and personal, one-of-a-kind view.
Watch the excitement build as hot air balloons light up the night

DAWN PATROL
The dawn of a new day is the perfect time to see balloons launch.
Rise and shine extra early, bring a flashlight, and watch in awe as
select balloons inflate and launch prior to sunrise. When they fly,
these graceful beauties look like giant lanterns floating through
the air. Dawn Patrol: Saturday, July 25, Wednesday, July 29,
and Saturday, August 1.
THE NATIONAL BALLOON MUSEUM celebrates 200 years
of ballooning history.
Don’t miss the 2015 Hall of Fame induction on Sunday,

A WACKY CLASSIC PARADE is a cherished tradition of the
National Balloon Classic. Clap, tap, or sing along to the wacky
sights and sounds as the parade makes its way through the
streets of Indianola including the city square. Make a day of
it, and enjoy the Indianola Chamber of Commerce Open Air
Market from 9AM – 4PM. Saturday, July 25.
BALLOON CHALLENGE 5K CROSS COUNTRY RACE. Run,
walk, and enjoy the view as hot air balloons fill the skies above.
