Dear Readers,
A wide range of mergers and acquisitions and the takeovers of the various printing
companies by local and international giants coupled with economic and political
factors made the financial year 2012 -2013 among the most interesting in recent
times.
While the global economy is perennially striving to recover from uncertainties,
domestically the deterioration in macroeconomic indicators has led to a marked
deceleration in the investment momentum in our industry. A prolonged bout of
inactivity especially in quarters 2 and 3 was experienced when orders for plant and
machinery were deferred and customers slowed down their ongoing expansion
initiatives. BST Sayona successfully navigated these crosscurrents for the better part of
the year, and capitalized on a more conducive environment during the last few months
of FY ’12-‘13 when both ordering and execution conditions turned favorable. The
ongoing efforts taken during this period have paid off, and we have once again,
performed well.

BST Sayona is extremely pleased to announce that our Turn over for the year 2012 –
2013 has been recorded with an improvement of about 27% over last year. We are
deeply humbled and grateful to all our customers in India, Thailand, East Africa and the
Middle East without whom the above achievement would be just a distant dream.
The past year saw a record number of “Premius”, Print Process Management Systems
invoiced in the history of BST Sayona. We are extremely grateful to our esteemed
OEMs and customers such as Parikh Packaging, Creative Poly, Champalal Group,
Kalpena Industries, GLS, Jhaveri Flexo, Shrinath, Printpack Positive Pkg and the team of
Rotomec and Raulimex for having immense faith and selecting us as technological
partners in their endeavor for achieving the highest print quality consistently.
We are extremely pleased to announce extremely important and successful
installations of the Wintriss 100% Surface Inspection Systems at some of the best
BOPET and BOPP lines.
BST Sayona is also the first subsidiary from the BST International conglomerate to have
successful installed and commissioned the Pro Control Thickness and Density
Measurement systems at Caprihans, Nashik after Beta Control’s merger with BST
International.
Horizontal Expansion
BST International is continuing to increase and improve its market presence and
product portfolio by strategically acquiring technologies and companies that are
synergic with the industries in which it operates, along with having a similar set of
values and beliefs. BST’s latest acquisition is “Accuweb” in the USA.
BST Promark along with the newly attained company is now number one in the web
guide business in North and South America. BST International also acquired
Betacontrol GmbH and PROTAGON Process Technologies GmbH. Betacontrol provides
state-of-the-art solutions for optimizing production and measuring flat web material
including thickness and weight while Protagon are experts in measuring and control
techniques for paper and coating processes. The new merged company will now be
called BST ProControl. We are looking at some more purchases this year as well. We
hope to share some good news with you in the coming months.
Internationalization
BST Sayona once again has spread its wings further by having a pivotal and a successful
Wintriss installation in Dubai along with multiple Premius installations in Kenya.

Enhancing customer relations
The BST Sayona “Quality Day” seminar was organized on the 15th of March 2013 at
Hotel Sahara Star Mumbai. This event was graced by the senior professionals from
several leading film printers & converters & OEMs from the flexible packaging industry.
All of us at BST would like to thank the attendees from the bottom of our hearts for
gracing the Quality Day Seminar with your presence and representing your most
esteemed company. We are extremely grateful for the time taken by you out of your
busy schedule for attending our seminar and sharing your valuable inputs. With such a
great turn out along with the endless stream of compliments, we are committed more
than before to organize many more such symposiums where the flow of technical
knowledge, expertise and ideas are facilitated to us all helping us meet the many
challenges of tomorrow pertaining to product quality, output, wastage, ROI, machine
downtime, etc.

Succession
To meet the present and future challenges with fresher ideas we decided to realign
our core team. Mr. ID Singh & Mr. Kashyap Joshi are hence no longer professionally
associated with BST Sayona. The current team welcomes this shuffle as it enables
everyone with more opportunities to break away with the old norms and the
conventional thinking and to employ more “out of the box” strategies with more focus
on value creation through portfolio restructuring.
Outlook
Despite the challenging macro environment, BST Sayona has been awarded a rating of
SME 2 when we got ourselves audited by Crisil. A SME 2 rating indicates a “high level
of credit worthiness adjudged in relation to other SMEs”. For this impressive feat I
have to thank all our employees, banks, shareholders and of course customers whose
persistent support has truly strengthened BST Sayona both internally and externally.
Though SME 2 is an extremely good rating, it is not yet a SME 1 which means that
there is still room for improvement and something to strive for in the near future.
BST Sayona HO has moved to a newer bigger office in Andheri please make note of our
new address.
