THE VENUE
Puerto Princesa City, a tropical paradise with bustling urban center
perfect for business with leisure trips. Lush rainforests and white sand

Puerto Princesa, which forms part of the Philippines last frontier,
venue of the 1st Water Safety Plan Conference & Exhibition is a City
rich in natural resources. It is one of the country's largest City with a
total land area of 253,982 hectares. A chain of mountain ranges runs
through the entire length of the City, dividing it into two distinct areas –
the East and the West Coast. The eastern side, which is facing the
Sulu Sea is characterized by thin strand lines bordered by
swamplands, following a series of flat plains to hilly terrain. The West
Coast has fewer plains with mountain ranges close to the China Sea,
thus giving the City a unique yet fragile ecology.
Historically, the place was
named after Princess
Asunción, born in 1864 to
Queen Isabella II and her
consort, Francisco de
Cadiz. When the princess
suffered an untimely death,
the Queen changed the
name to Puerto de la
Princesa. Eventually, the
name was reduced to
Puerto Princesa as it is
known today.

Puerto Princesa City was also known for its Subterranean River,
reputed to be the world's longest underground river. On January 28,
2012, Puerto Princesa Underground River was officially confirmed as
one of the “New 7 Wonders of Nature”.

REGISTRATION
It is the distinct pleasure of the Philippine Water Works
Association (PWWA) and the International Water Association
(IWA) to invite you to the 1 st International Water Safety
Conference and Exhibition to be held on April 25-27, 2016 at the
Aziza Paradise Hotel in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Philippines.
The event was organized in collaboration with the World Health
Organization and the Department of Health.
Carrying the inaugural theme of “A Pathway to Universal Access
to Safe and Improved Water Service Delivery”, this event will
focus on Water Safety Planning as the basic framework for
assuring and ensuring the quality of water service through
systematic assessment and management of health risks attendant
to domestic water supply operations.
We are confident that with the convergence of high-caliber water
supply policy makers, planners, managers, operators and experts
in this event, we will be able to share vital experiences, best
practices and expertise in preserving and sustaining the full benefits
of safe drinking water supply to public health and sanitation in our
respective countries and communities.
The event is set in the international tourism paradise of Puerto
Princesa City in Palawan which offers the natural ambiance as well
as exceptional venues, facilities and amenities for business and
