Uniform Update
The new year sees a generous uptake of the new school uniform.
Families were asked to put in orders prior to the end of the year, and
apart from a delay in the arrival of hats those orders have almost all
been delivered. However, a huge number of new orders were
submitted in late January when the book packs were collected. Our
provision of new stock has been exhausted. Supplies of most items will
be at the school soon, though the polo shirt will be delayed. Until
supplies arrive please:
•
Continue to wear the yellow/brown combination
•
Do provide a hat for your child as we will still expect hats to
be worn in terms one and four
•
If you have exhausted your old uniform, use a navy polo until
new school stocks arrive
•
Don’t forget that pants /leggings are plain black
Trevallyn Close
An issue that developed towards the end of last year and seems to have
continued this year is the setting down and picking up of children in
Trevallyn Close. Please be mindful of the fact that this is a ‘no through
road’ and somewhat narrower than normal. Safe drop off practices
include:
•
Park in the correct places. Council officers do patrol and will
fine drivers setting down passengers in the wrong areas.
•
The car park in Burley Street is a great, safe option.
•
Use the designated ‘one way’ feature that operates in
Trevallyn/Walker Rd so that the traffic flows (rather than
doing U turns beyond the Walker intersection)
•
Never allow children to get out of the car into the centre of
the road
•
Use the school crossing rather than taking short cuts through
traffic.

Welcome back to what promises to be a terrific year. Welcome
also to all of our new families, I wish you all the best as you
become accustomed to life at Montrose Primary School. It has
been fun getting around to each of the classes listening to tales
from the holidays. Thank you to the families who brought their
young bike riders up to school to practise. Your presence helped
ensure the school escaped damage over the break.
Preps’ First Day
Our preps start together tomorrow. Over the past three school
days our prep team has been conducting individual interviews with
the children in preparation for the start. After a few photos and
bright and cheery goodbyes parents are invited to the staff room
for a cuppa.
Information Night for years 1-6 Wednesday Feb 15
Next week you are invited to a short information session with your
child’s teacher. The purpose of the session is to explain
procedures and organisation structures that are particular to that
grade level. Times for the sessions will come home today.
Getting to Know You Interviews Tuesday Feb 21
The purpose of this short meeting is to introduce yourself to your
child’s teacher and share any pertinent information regarding your
child that you think will enable his or her teacher to better
understand them as learners. A booking slip will be sent home
today, to be returned by Friday 17th Feb. If you have already met
with your child’s teacher for this purpose then you need not book
another session.
Insurance
Please note that it is the responsibility of parents to arrange for
accident protection for their children. There are a number of
companies that offer such services. Two companies that have sent
information to the school are included in this newsletter.

the form below and hand in to the office ASAP. Volunteers will need to be available from
9am-3pm approximately and, depending on the number of teams, will be rostered on about 7
times for the year!
Yesterday you should have received an updated 2012 double-sided canteen menu for
Wednesday Term 1 and Friday. If not, copies can be found at the office or from the canteen
on Wednesday and Friday.
Please dispose of any old menus you may have as there have been some PRICE INCREASES –
Popcorn and Vegie chips are now $1 and Fruit straps 80c each and a new product – So Good
chocolate milk (250ml) $1.80 each.
If insufficient money is included in your child’s lunch order, items may be deleted to make up
the difference or a note will be sent home notifying you what is owing. Please check
calculations on your child’s lunch order and include exact money if possible. Also remember
to remind your child that all frozen items ordered on a lunch order need to be collected from
the canteen at lunch time by bringing their paper bag or token (given in lunch wallets) as
proof of purchase.
