The unique style of the restaurant made it a very enjoyable experience
What users are saying about the website:
“
The website is a bit of disappointment. Hodadies.com is not really user friendly
and it seems that they really don’t care about what the website looks like. They
have great information on the site but is hard to get to.
“
After looking at the website I found that the designer used centered the page with
CSS. By centering the page, the user is presented with information front and
center which means that they don’t have to move their head in order to read the
body copy.

best place to go for good old fashion burger and fries, huge burgers should be on
every tourist stop.
“
What I found works on the site:
Never disappoints, always a pleasure. OB Hodads is a must-do scene + killer food.
Unless you’re super hungry, order a just a burger (not the burger Basket which
includes fries or O rings) and then get an order of Frings to share at the table. The
beautiful, ginormous shakes are a meal by themselves. Decent local beers on tap.
Please tip handsomely- I travel all over and have never seen a crew that works,
from opening to closing, as hard as these folks do.

Hodad’s Website Case Study
Like the burgers, HATE the website.

The site utilizes social media for SEO. By utilizing social media hodadies.com is
easier to find by search engines and therefor people know about what’s going on
with the restaurant and in turn potential customers.
Social media used:
Facebook
Twitter
The user is greeted by humor which makes for a more pleasant interaction. While
some sites are all bout facts and figures, hodadies.com is more about keeping a
human element that speaks levels to the user.

The restaurant has been on various TV programs and they are proud to show off
their accolades.

The Challenges
What I found that could be improved:
As designers we sometimes run into a few challenges and so to get the job done
we rush things and the design suffers. Hodad’s website could be improved by
implementing a few changes to update the site.
What I would change first is the navigation on the surf board. The design of navigation looks great, but it does not seem to fit with the rest of the design. It gives a
clue to where the restaurant might be located but its the only part of the website
that stands out, the design lacks balance because the navigation is top heavy.
The background image distracts the user of the main topic. Sometimes a simpler
solution is better.
The website does not keep the mobile user in mind, which could loose potential
customers.

My Solution
This is how I would improve some of the challenges of the
Hodadies website:
The site could be optimized by making the design responsive. As technology grows, web design should be able to keep up with all the new technologies being developed and implemented so that the design does not become
obsolete.
Sometimes simpler is better, I gave the website a simple color pallet that
keeps the user experience in mind and also the goal of getting them to the
restaurant.
I added the Youtube and Google+ media icons to get more traffic to the site
and to give people a chance to connect to Hodad’s even if they don’t live in
the San Diego area.
A big call to action is the coupon on the home page. By having the coupon
on the home page it gives the user a reason to actually go into the restaurant.
